Emily Rogers: Nintendo Working on Unannounced Wii U Game [Update: Paper Mario]

There's always other ways to get the game working perfectly.

Put the character portraits and subtitles on the tv like in Smash Wii U's Guidances

Make it where the bottom screen is only the aiming screen, it's not like you're going to look at the gamepad often

Put the icons for the power ups on the up left part of the screen, underneath the health bar.

Map other icons like exit the exo tank to a button

Give me Wiimote aim or bust.

All great points that I mostly honestly never considered. If I'm remembering right aiming did require you to look at the screen. I might be totally misremembering that, though. The one idea I had thought of was having the portraits on the screen but I was concerned people would freak if Nintendo went to the trouble of making it HD then made the screen too busy. But hey, it could happen. I'd be there day one.

Rogue guess with 100% speculation and less than 1% probability: Luigi's Mansion Wii U.

It sold well on the 3DS, so why not?

fingers crossed for mario vs donkey konkey kong: minis march forever to celebrate the franchise's 12th anniversary and 50th game.

I think Diddy Kong Racing or Animal Crossing U seem fairly plausible. Both should be rather inexpensive to make compared to other larger titles, and should each shift a fair number of units. At this point, the only games to continue development are more core titles that your current user base will eat up - and ones that aren't $$ to develop.

I'm not so sure about that. Almost every iteration of Animal Crossing has had new elements introduced into them, so I have a hard time thinking that, that sort of game would be inexpensive to make, and on top of that there's also the localization time. That game is very text heavy, so when could we expect this Wii U game to come out? Even further, I firmly believe that the Animal Crossing franchise will go the DLC route that Splatoon and Mario Maker have taken with frequent updates. This is the kind of game that sells a lot, and it continues to sell over time. The Wii U is on the way out, so I would think releasing it would be a bad business decision.

Diddy Kong racing could work, but I'm pretty adamant about it taking too much from Mario Kart which is still being sold in bundles, if I remember correctly. I'd still love to play it, though. Actually, I'd prefer the merge their Mario Kart & Diddy Kong racing into one game that releases on the NX. I don't want Diddy to die at the end of the Wii U.

This is all, of course, going under the assumption that the NX will release relatively soon. If this game ever gets released, I can't see it being a big seller franchise. I'm more inclined to believe this will be a spin-off, perhaps a Mario Sport game.

Probably Pikmen

Hopefully Animal Crossing

World of Dreams Pokemon

It's not Mother 4. Which, by golly, would be pretty cool post-UT. But then again I still have Mother 3 sooooo~

(What're peoples suggested method of playing a fan tran on mac?)

That's already been publicly confirmed, so probably not that

Technically, it is unannounced. Lots of GAFers have said that Pikmin 4 is a NX game by now.

Anyhow, it makes sense that this is the late May title (like Splatoon in 2015, MK8 before in 2014), since that window hasn't a title. Twilight Princess was announced in November and releases in early March. An announcement of the May title now would make sense.

Why did I have to read this now? I could have read this on Monday ready for when they are about to mention what game that is.

Now how am I supposed to sleep knowing that we might have news of a new Metroid next Monday? HOW?

Eh. They can't be stupid enough to not save their biggest hitters for E3. I don't expect much.

Nintendo isn't making the announcement, though.

Also, if it's a Wii U game and NX and its games are being unveiled at E3 (beyond just the concept/initial reveal I expect to see in March/April), it might get more buzz if it's announced before focus shifts to NX.

I almost though this was a serious post, well played.

Given the forthcoming release of a whole bunch of Animal Crossing amiibo (which seems a lot to only be compatible with a digital board game that hasn't sold particularly well) and the enduring popularity - in Japan, at least - of Isabelle, I'm going with AC Wii U.

Failing that, based on what's been said in the OP, another DKC game seems like a reasonably solid secondary bet. My third pick would be Kirby. Has its fans, isn't going to provoke a Federation Force-style fury, but will be a slight disappointment to most people all the same.

I would be quite surprised if it was F-Zero or Metroid at this stage, but you never know.

It's almost certainly Pikmin 4. That's no secret, despite not having been announced. It makes the most sense for a Wii U title. Development probably continued right from Pikmin 3 to capitalize on the long investment.

Kinda silly to be hyped for an announcement of a rumor that will not be officially confirmed until who the f knows when but here I am.... sigh

Announcements of announcements is spilling to rumours now. Next? Season passes with exclusive access to scoops first hand.

Lately, it's been difficult for me to get excited for anything Wii U related. I won't be boarding the hype train this time. :p

Spinning the wheel'o'guesswork, it's landed on... Rhythm Heaven!

It's fairly cheap; it's got a fanbase, it's bound to disappoint people who are expecting a new Metroid Prime or something, but definite appeal beyond that. And it's a handy riposte to that recent "Where's WarioWare" thread!

Luigi's Mansion Wii U, or an Amibo SRPG in an isometric style similar to Captain Toad:Treasure Tracker with same graphic engine

Not a party game or minigame collection, so I don't think Rhythym Heaven or WarioWare will be it.
