Guys?
Sorry, just might go pick one of the two up and not sure if the 1HU is really worth the extra dollars.
HDMI + overclocking on the X271HU. Most likely 0 panel differences.

You mean with no Gysnc or Freesync?
You could always just buy the freesync one and not use it.
Any panel or build quality differences between the Acer XB270HU and XB271HU?

Yes, I want to know if there's an option with no G-Sync nor FreeSync.
I mean, neither of those would make the display cheaper, no?
EDIT: I'm looking for those kind of displays, but I see a huge gap between 200€ 60hz and 500€ 144hz![]()

The 1HU has a different build (with a more gamerish stand, altough really thin bezels), has an HDMI-input, and can reach up to 165hz, compared to 144hz of the 0HU. But that's about all the difference there is, so the choice is up to you if you find those differences worth the extra dollars.
I also heard that the 1HU has almost no QC issues, but I guess Acer also fixed the issues now that the 0HU in it's first couple of months.

I suppose there's no way to tell if your 0HU is an early or recent model.
Yeah, I saw that, really excited for it. The only question is how soon thereafter we'll see OLED monitors designed for gaming at decent prices.
Actually, current IPS monitors are exactly as shit when it comes to contrast as IPS monitors from 6 years ago. A complete standstill there :/
I prefer how ULMB looks over Gsync but my single GTX970 cant do 100fps consistently so I stick with Gsync for now (Acer XB270HU)
Does your GPU have displayport? That is needed for the likes of Gsync/freesync. As far as I can tell if doesn't it will only do 60hz at 1080p, something worth looking into maybe. As for scaling I am not too sure i'm afraid, I think it won't look too bad, obviously not great but fine. As mentioned above my shitty DGM monitor did an alright job scaling PS4 games.
Every Acer XB270HU has the manufacture date on it. If you get yours now, its definitely a recent model and I think most of the issues would be gone. It is a big chunk of money to risk not getting something perfect, but it was worth it to me at the time because it was the only 1440p/144hz/IPS/G-sync monitor at the time.
I got mine at launch, I was kind of annoyed cause I got a January 2015 model (but it turned out to be perfect).
I'm really tempted to get one of those, I like everything about it: IPS, 4ms, WQHD... But I have a GTX 970, and this one has FreeSync...
Argh, seriously, I want FreeSync support on NVIDIA cards and not depend on overly priced G-Sync modules...
The fact is I want to make the jump from 60hz to 144hz. I guess a GTX 970 is nice for that. Is there something like that but without FreeSync not G-Sync? I like those specs.
Thanks guys

Yes it does. I'm using Display port for both my monitors currently. My 970 has 3x display port 1.2a and a HDMI 2.0 port.
Why exactly are you outputting at 1080p? Sorry I am a little confused.
For higher framerate. I play a lot of graphically intensive games. Star Citizen for instance.
Sorry its 9 and I am still waking up.
If you used Gysnc it would alleviate that.
I have a 390 that I use with mine and I can pretty much max games out at 1440p and not have to deal with stuttering.
As long as its above 35fps its smooth.
I'm taking a moral stance stupidly. I don't want to buy a G-sync monitor that locks me into having a Nvidia GPU. I want to support AMD and I think this may be the year for me.

If that doesn't sound like they are made for the next gen of Gsync monitors... 30"/35" Ultra-wide curved 3440x1440 VA with 144Hz, DP1.3 :OO
The latest batch of 0HU are 165Hz enabled (OSD version 2.5+).
You can check the OSD version and date by accessing the factory menu.
To activate the factory menu press 5,5,4,4,2,3,5. 1 is the first button starting from the left, 6 is the power button.

Much like with 120Hz ULMB, Acer snuck 165Hz OC into recent revisions of the 0HU without mentioning it.I thought only the X271HUs could OC to 165?

Interesting. A part of me is a bit worried as I always assume being in Australia we're more likely to have older models floating about. But fingers crossed.

Was anything really tempting announced at CES or are the curved widescreen IPS Acer and really high frequency IPS Asus still the best now and for the near future?

Just to query and rejog my memory; as long as gsync is on via my control panel, I don't need to turn on vsync or anything yeah?
It's usually best to disable vsync in the in-game menus.
I still wuv my XB270HA so very much and I stand by my decision to go with the 1080p model. Frames before beauty.
Cool, cheers.
I suppose the second question is just what calibration other XB270HU owners are using.
what would be the best value 24" 1080p gsync monitor? that recent thread has got me very interested
Gonna be using a 970 so probably not much point bothering with 1440p when they seem to cost quite a bit more than the 1080p monitors
this seems like it's pretty damn reasonable. $450 in Canada?Dunno about pricing but enjoying the BenQ XL2420G with my 970. 24", 1080p, and has HDMI if you want to plug in something else.
Also thought this was interesting, from toms hardware in august they did a blind test with a few fans and g-sync seemed to come out on top here (article is super long, results are close to bottom if you wanna skip ahead)

Well, that's that.

Manufacture date is September 2015. OSD version isn't most recent, but there's nothing I'm playing at 165hz so I definitely don't need it.
Pros: I haven't noticed any dead/hot/stuck pixels yet. Tested with pure white and black backgrounds. This would be a first for me. In like...forever. Also, gsync seems to work just fine. No dithering like the first TN gsync I purchased.
Cons: Image quality isn't as a nice as my 1440p 60hz IPS, but that's okay. Biggest issue is gradient/contrast uniformity across the display. The right side definitely has a slightly darker tinge. But I'm not going to kick up a fuss about it because I cant be arsed, and it's not a problem when playing games.
Otherwise so far so good.

Try adjusting gamma to 2.5 and see how you like it or if it's better than your old 1440p one. When I first bought the Acer I notice the image was too washed out on 2.2 compare to my previous monitor.
Wait I'm confused. I have G-Sync and I thought putting V-Sync on was bad.
Why are people putting V-Sync on with G-sync?
I think it prevents screen tearing at 144fps+.No idea.
There's no point in using v-sync, really. They're mutually exclusive.
