Final Fantasy VII PS4 |OT| One last time before the remake

Spent a hour and got a gold chocobo.

3X Speed makes those races a breeze. I already mastered and sold a few alls so money was no issue to just buy a load of greens to up stats. That way you early auto mode every race.

Guide I used for what pairs are needed for breeding

http://www.chocobo-guide.mikestomb.com

I had no luck with the "lets game the RNG and do it without any racing" guide that is floating around. This was straight forward and the 3x speed makes each race super short. 3 races to get a chocobo up a rank is piss easy.

Now onto rocket town.

What do you mean, now onto rocket town? You got a gold chocobo before going there?

In late disc 2 when you return there for the Huge Materia.

Now I am heading back to Midgar and then its onwards to grinding gill and XP and killing the ultra bosses.

Any decent guides or tops for Ruby and Emerald?

I have everyones limit breaks finally so now I can just use whoever I want for the final stretch so I might as well settle on the best team for those bosses.

I never actually ever beat them before so this will be a first.

For Ruby, Cloud alone is the best. The others will most likely get kicked out of the fight anyway. There's a good guide on gamefaqs for both bosses, but I accidentally beat both with endless limit breaks :) For Emerald I used the same guide and Cloud, Barret, Cid. Cid only had the underwater materia and the other stuff was spread out over the other two. The easiest way is either to just spam everyone's limit breaks, after Emerald used his mega attack, he never moved again for me. Otherwise it's the typical Knights of the Round with Mime technique. With W-Summon for extra Oopmh.

Every other trophy is fine in my book but the gil one is unnecessary.
While I agree it seems unnecessary. It's too high a number and they probably should have had a trophy for getting all Enemy Skills onto one materia instead.

Having said that it doesn't take long at all. I had the trophy by the time Cloud was level 70-75. I spent more time getting him to 99

Getting the E Skills would be so much more of a pain in the ass than the Gil, considering how many skills are missable.

Grinding Magic Pots with the W-Item trick makes mastering the All Materias for the Gil a breeze.

I'm not saying it would be easier, just that it would be more relevant and/or meaningful in the same way getting everyone's final Limit Break is. Getting an arbitrary amount of Gil matters little. At least getting to Level 99 which takes longer than the Gil is.more fitting since it's the highest level.

I got the Gil trophy before the Level trophy. I know what you mean, though.

99m gill was a lot easier then I expected.

Just went from 25m to 100m in about a hour grinding the magic pots to master and sell alls.

Currently level 81.

All that is left is to get to level 99. Kill the weapons and end the game and I will have the plat

Here's a little strategy that might help people with the KotR Mime technique:

If you don't have a Mime materia for every party member, but still want to maximize AP, then W-Summon KotR and Pheonix in order to keep the other two party members alive. Just skip their turns and keep miming with your main guy.

I finally finished and 100%'d this a few days ago.

This game is magic.

I can't believe how much fun I had playing through it again after so many years,

Killed emerald. And my first time ever using the w summon KOTR + mimic combo.

HOLY SHIT. That's so cheese. I would have killed him 15 years ago if I knew about that combo.

In Disc 2 at the start of the Huge Materia quest and something is bothering me.

Why do Barrett and co decide to interfere with Shinra's plan to save the world and destroy Meteor with the Huge Materia?

Cait Sith eaves drops on the Shinra executive meeting and then everyone goes, "Oh man we gotta stop those Shinra fuckers, god I can't stand them" and then you're off trying to stop Shinra from saving the world and literally next to no exposition is given for their decision.

I don't get it. Aside from the execution business in Junon Shinra aren't particularly bad actors in Disc 2. I mean, they've been protecting cities and towns from the WEAPONS, attempt to destroy Meteor and even bring down Sephiroth's barrier.

So WHY.

The motive isn't to screw up Shinra's plan, it's to obtain the Huge Materia that Shinra is about to sacrifice in the rocket. The Huge Materia quests are kicked off by someone (Red XIII I think) saying that if they can collect all four of the Huge Materia that will definitely help them in a big way to succeed in their quest to stop Sephiroth. They probably should have thrown out another line of text saying something like "Destroying the meteor won't solve anything, Sephiroth will just summon another one."

The huge material isn't even an asset in helping the party lol

The only thing Red XIII says, "Our materia might have some kind of reaction in the presence of the Huge Materia".

That's it! lol Like, they literally go into Yuffie stealing mode on the assumption that there may be some kind of reaction? It's more than just a leap of faith it's absurd.

Yeah, the Gil trophy ended up being super easy. I grinded 16 ALL materia at a time in the swamp and it took like 30 min to get 50M with the X3 speed.

They're the gate to getting the master materia, I'd say that helps. Definitely doesn't hurt.

Whatever dude. They want all of the Huge Materia and Shinra is about to waste one. Good enough of a reason for me.

FFVII HD port to PS4 is fantastic, and comes with some great features/options to make the game playable today. (3X speed / No Encounter)

FFIX HD port coming to PC and phones... looks fantastic!

But why oh why did they just jump right over FFVIII? Will it come?? I hope it comes soon and to PS4... please please please!

I'm not sure if it counts as jumping over VIII when:

- PC had FFVII, VIII since 90s, now has IX

- PS4 never had any, now has VII

They're on two different tracks.

mobile has FFVII and IX tho

3x speed is making grinding far too enjoyable.

I'm at the point where
Mideel has just been levelled
and I'm almost level 60.

As an aside, I can't believe I just used a spoiler tag for a game that came out in 1997...

Got my first Gold Chocobo! Well, that only took 18 years...

I'm glad you did. I were spoiled about Sephiroth in another thread, which I wish were spoiler-tagged.

I'm currently playing the Steam version, does it have 3x speed?

Congrats! Glad you finally learned how Babbi is formed.

I've been wondering this, too. I'm holding off on starting until they are... well, or until I can't wait any more.

Don't hold your breath.
For FFX HD Remaster PS4, it took almost 4 months to patch the same issue.

To be fair, he didn't say the materia might have a reaction, he said:

"You mean the Huge Materia, don't you? I've heard about it."
"When our small materia nears the larger one, something should
happen."
"I'm certain of it."
"That's why we're using the power of materia in our fight......"

In addition, there's also the same motivation as in their original conflict with Shinra, i.e. the waste of Mako energy. Materia is highly concentrated and crystallized Mako energy (Huge Materia even more so), and Mako energy is the planet's life energy. Permanently ejecting a bunch of that from the planet to explode into Meteor runs counter to the group's principles.

I'm playing through this on the Vita for the umpteenth time it feels like. I've played through the midgar sections so many times I know it and the music like the back of my hand. But I never finished the game. I've gotten as far as being ready to just go start the mission at the north cave, but never did. I think I didn't want it to end when I was playing it as a young teenager.

For anyone playing on Vita just remember you can map the directions to the analog stick to make life a little more comfortable.

You sure can.

End of game spoilers:

Cloud and Tifa's night under the Highwind with high dating affinity should be pretty interesting the remake...

So it hasn't been patched? I came here to ask about the music bug too. There's no way I'm spending money on this if they don't fix it.

Semi-unrelated, does anybody know if the fan relocalization in The Reunion patch is any good? I'll probably just play the steam version patched up instead of this, since it seems the fans care more than SE does at this point. I'd like the 3x speed option, but I'd take a better localization over that.

I'm replaying FF7, I wonder how they will handle honeybee and Aerith/Red XIII stuff, it's pretty fucked up when you think about it that Hojo wanted a red panther thing to mate with an ancient, and the guys trying to rape Cloud / Aerith in Honey bee

To be honest it's not even something you really need to do.

But if you must.

Back into the caves and to the north
(The section where you meet the Turks after beating the Midgar Zolem)

Or Around the forests where you can recruit Yuffie

Anyone have a good breakdown on using the Barrett convo trick for Cosmo cave? I'm almost there and want to make sure I get the Best Bro trophy, lol.

If you overdo it, the game will glitch out and not give you Barrett for the date. So you have to do it enough times to make sure Barrett is comfortably in the lead, but not so much that the Affection stat glitches out.

Just following a traditional conversation FAQ is the safest way to do it.

For the Ruby fight, if you don't want to mess with all the materia set up/combinations (I didn't) just be prepared for a LONG fight (even using God Mode and 3x). I think I fought him for at least an hour with nothing but Omni-Slashes for my attack. I would also recommend making sure the other 2 members are dead before entering the Ruby fight. I'm not even sure his tentacles count towards his HP? I may be wrong.

In hindsight I probably should have just set up my materia to fight him. It's more a battle of attention attrition otherwise.
