Final Fantasy VII PS4 |OT| One last time before the remake

So I'm playing FFVII for the first time, but I don't really have the luxury of time to run through the game a second time to get all of the trophies. Is there a (relatively spoiler-free, though I know thats partially impossible) guide to getting trophies out there I wouldn't get through natural progression anyways? I don't want to miss anything.

platinum'd the game on first try a couple hours ago, last ones besides finishing the game were the LVL.99 and 99 million gil trophies

so guys what strategies did you guys use for the weapons, i personally always go with W-summon with KotR and HP absorb

For the weapons fight I used that combo and added the counter command paired with mime. This way just start the fight and cast double KoTR and then whenever you're hit you counter with double KoTR lol. You gotta love how broken your character can become with some of these combinations.

Just got the platinum

greatest game ever

thank you square

been taking this run through slowly. just ran up all those stairs and the dialog between Tifa and Barret is some of the best in the game.

on a different note, has anyone else experienced wierdness in the menus? if my cursor is pointing to item1, and i hit down but then hit x right away, instead of selecting item2 it slides down one more to item3. very annoying, as it happens in both the main menu and the battle menu. I thought it was my controller at first but the same thing happens with vita remote play.

Yeah I had some wonky menu selection as well. Couldn't pinpoint what I was doing to cause the problem.

This happens a lot on the materia menu so I kept unequipping everything. It only happened to me when I was on 3X speed though so there's always that.

There's something funky about seeing your childhood sped up 3x in front of your eyes.

Just need the level and gil trophy and I'll be all done.

I bought this when it was on sale and haven't touched it other than applying the theme. They got me.

Same lol. I'm at like a few hours in. But to be fair, I just 100% it for the 1st time earlier this year so.....I'm gonna take my time.

To be honest, this game 3x speed is awful. I'm just gonna take it slow and enjoy it for the 6th time.....

also Xenoblade X happened.

Playing for the first time...trollenix...nobody told you to put a strong as monster under the spot you give a new player a submarine knowing full well he would dive underwater immediately to see whats under there....i didn't save in awhile!!

Yo, fuck the date mechanics. Have put in 17 hours, followed a date mechanics guide and still got Aeris. Fuck it.

Part 1 finished.

RIP Aries.

I forgot at the end of the Temple of the Ancients Cloud gets put under Sephiroths control and beats up Aries. Kind of a bummer last face to face moment before she runs off looking for Holy.

Time for some totally sick snowboarding bro! WHaaaa!

Level is kinda irrelevant there (Though 70 and above is probably good), your Materia setup is the most important thing when taking on FFVII's Superbosses. Especially for Emerald Weapon.

Not interested in trophies, but I'm still finding this game every bit as absorbing as it was in 1997. The extra pop in the visuals is a real treat. It is like watching my childhood come alive just a little bit more.

I really like the speed ups and cheats in this version. Makes things go so much faster. I want 8,9, and 1-6 eventually too with original graphics and cheats and trophies.

All I have left is the freaking Bromance trophy and I saved over all of my stuff. I guess I will be playing through at least that much of the game next week while off work from the Christmas break :(.

I did the same thing, took exactly 3 hours with all 3 boosters on. Throw on a podcast or some tunes and enjoy!

The Materia Keeper and Midgar Zolom will be tricky at super low levels, safe often.

I wish they port FFVIII soon too. Can't wait to platinum that.

What's the easiest way to grind out 99m gil?

1. Buy 10+ All materias (Fort Condor sells them)
2. Equip Ragnarok and Scimitar (for Cloud and Cid, respectively), this allows you triple growth
3. Equip All Materia in all the slots available
4, Use the W-Item glitch to get 99 Elixirs
5. Kill Magic Pots in Crater. Use an elixir and then kill. Killing Movers also helps since they garner 2.4k AP.
6. Maxing an All Materia will garner you 1.4m Gil.

This will take you 1.5-2 hours. I heavily recommend using 3x speed and God mode.

Sorry if this has been answered in the thread somewhere. I'm thinking of getting this, but I was just wondering if there is any difference between the PS4 version and the PS1 classic other than trophies? It's just because I own the PS1 classic on Vita already, i'm not sure it's worth the repurchase.

Why are they using them? I would have thought they kinda ruined the game?
A lot of us here have played this game before, and quite a few do it to completion every year/every few years. We've seen the Nibelheim flashback lots of times, we've seen Knights of the Round too many times, some of us have even done the backtracking for every Fort Condor battle lots of times (not worth it, BTW). 3x speed helps immeasurably with the tedious bits. If you're going for the plat, the trophies require grinding if you don't experiment with your team throughout the game. Particularly if you know about Aeris, you won't bother getting Great Gospel. The HP/MP/Limit boost in conjunction with the 3x speed is a time-saver if you're a trophy hunter. Particularly in regards to the levelling, Gil and Master Summon trophy. No encounters I've used less, but it'll be great for low level playthroughs and again, with the tedium.

By the end of my playthrough, I pretty much was using all three cheats. No Encounters/3x Speed to get me through the Northern Crater to the Marshes rooms, using the booster to kill every enemy there to level up to 99, level up All materia for the purpose of selling it and levelling up a bunch of other materia so I can have a few copies of Master Magic, Summon and Command. I've did all that on the original before, I'd say that using them this time actually helps the game rather than hinders it.

Although to be honest, in every game I've played since getting the plat I keep pushing the left analog stick in expecting it to go faster during the slow parts. So I guess it's ruined every other game, weirdly enough.

I think it's hilarious the game blocks the Aries death scene from share button stuff. Only god damn scene that has done it so far.

That scene is gamings "Vader is Lukes father" levels of everyone knows it before they press new game but it's funny they tried and protect it.

What is it with Japanese companies and blocking share button stuff? Never seen a western game do it outside of one's with licenced music or video.

They kinda cleaned up the graphics a little bit and added few nice things.

There's a new 3x speed boost you can use, an option to disable random encounters and the god mode boost you can use if you just want to enjoy the story. None of those disable trophies either, so it's a very easy game to platinum if you use them.

I abuse the hell out of the 3x speed cheat cuz this game is slow as fuck. If I haven't saved in a while, I'll hit the full cant die cheat because why would I want to lose progress? I've played the game to disc 3 and almost to the end before anyway.

In One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 every single story scene is blocked, even the mid-mission ones.

I do kinda hate how easy it is to enable the cheat mode. I've accidentally triggered it once already, and that irritates me. Would that there were a way to disable it. >_>
