To all beta players: I am level 10 in darkzone-level. But I am not able to open the chests in the darkzone. I have 2 keys and the prior required level but I can't open the damn chests.

Anyone with the same problem or with a solution? Thanks

Darkzone chests didn't work for me or my group in the closed Alpha either... could be they're just not switched on. All loot we extracted from the DZ came from baddie NPCs or other players' dead bodies ;)
 
So outside of the dark zone you don't meet any other players? In PVE areas i mean.

With how empty and sometimes boring the normal environment up top among the city streets is... you'll want to spend your time in the Darkzone. But yes... you'll see other players in the main areas of the city outside the darkzone.

Questions for those currently playing:

1. Is there a death penalty?

2. How's the loot variety?

3. Are Dark Zones still a clusterfuck? I saw in the TNG preview that players respawned close to the zone so the battle never ended and extraction wasn't possible because of it.

Bolded part, that is my concern too. This game looks like something that I want to throw at my PC instead of PS4, but longevity of PC community is great concern for game like this.

Who reads the OT anyway
Dark Zone is your PvP zone, with both other players and very hard NPCs.
Loot in the Dark Zone is dropped as Contaminated, and you need to call an Extraction in to turn it into loot you can equip.
If you shoot other players past a certain damage threshold, you will go Rogue and provide bonuses to other Non-Rogue Agents if they kill you, such as stealing Dark Zone XP(a separate type of XP in the Dark Zone), Dark Zone Credits(I trust you can work this one out), as well as whatever Dark Zone loot you had on you at the time.
Non-Rogue Agents can shoot Rogue Agents without going Rogue themselves; you're not punished for defending yourself.
Don't trust anyone, not even yourself
 
Can anyone confirm or deny if the beta has proximity voice chat? I heard that they decided to add it to the game after all.



The cover system works pretty well, you can look at a part of the world and hold A to sprint from cover to cover.

One thing that does bother me though, and this was brought up during the alpha... there is no crouch button.

Look at it this way, people can't teabag you after stealing all your loot in the Dark Zone.

I dont think it'll be a problem. We'll see more after the Beta test tomorrow but its constantly in Top 3 sellers on steam. Imagine every other place people get cheaper uPlay keys.
 
I was able to play about 20 minutes this morning before work. I like the feel of the game so far and I'm looking forward to putting in more time today on XB1 and PC starting tomorrow.

Same. The cover system works great and finding loot is exciting.

Looking forward to playing it more after work.
 
One change from the alpha that I dislike is how the hard version of the main mission is designed. In the alpha, it told you the recommended level was 8, and all the enemies are 8, regardless of player level.

Now, it scales to your level, but if a higher level person gets matched with you, then all the enemies scale to the higher level.

I tried matchmaking hard difficulty earlier at level 8, and got matched with people at level 4 and 5, and it was impossbile because of all the purple/yellow bar enemies @ level 8.

"If you manage to survive your Rogue status – which is pretty difficult because all the players want to kill you and can see you on the map – then you receive your own bounty. So you can progress in the Dark Zone by being a Rogue, but it’s pretty risky and difficult.”

But what do you actually get from the bounty? just cash / dz cash / dzxp? or will you get items and stuff as well?
 
I'm OK with this. At least there appears to be no false promises ("oh look there's my friend getting dropped off by his ship!!"). It is what it is. I'll be glad that random people aren't there to tag all the enemies before I can get to them. Happy to play solo but also, the game will shine for me as a coop experience.



Do you lose your loot if an NPC kills you?

Yes, you lose your loot if killed by a NPC. But it is easier to go back and pick it up compared to when you get killed by another player.
 
Dynamic Global illumination was perhaps the most celebrated highly touted feature of this game engine, and the developers made a big deal about it in a 2015 promotional video.
It appears to be disabled now, at least on consoles.

Does anyone know if they left it on for PC?
What do you mean it's disabled?
 
Yeah fuck this day early bullshit.

Lol, I remember the feels when PS4 GAF had the Destiny beta like 3 days earlier than X1. Sucked soo much. At least it's only a day.

Played for half an hour before work. Got to the post office/base of operations. Looks good. Not quite used to holding down A to move to the next cover. I kept popping out of cover and just standing there like an idiot.

Very disappointed in how small and barren subway segments are in the beta, hopefully it's only because we have access to low level areas of the game.
 
The dark zone sounds intresting. Could be a big potential for a large clan community. Will be intresting to see how that plays out.
 
First thing I did was take cover against cars and witness some glorious door closing. Imagine my delight when I found out you can close open trunks and car hoods, too.

The social area reminded me a lot of Destiny.
 
Playing for 6 hours now with 3 other people. Servers are very stable. Not a single connection problem or anything.

Not for me. If I can even get to the character screen, it'll boot be out when the world loads:"division services are not available at this time. Please try again later"

I want to get this game, but this kinda stuff scares me off.
 
Totally forgot to download so I hooked my ethernet cable to see how fast it'd take.

Started at 10 am and in 19 minutes it's at 46% , not bad


Hyped to try it out :D
