Yep, this is exactly what this news is saying. So the NX is just gonna be filled with ports?

I mean you don't need to buy the new version (not until we see 1. It's real and 2. If it has new stuff or is just the complete edition). And of course there'll be other games on NX. We just don't know what they are yet.It just feels too soon to me. I can't justify buying a port for a game that's two years old. Not even sure I can justify buying another new nintendo system so soon.
Nintendo NX: Wii U BoogalooSo the NX is just gonna be filled with ports?
I feel like there will be a couple more remasters. Will they be the ones you want? Might not be. But I feel like Nintendo is gonna embrace what this gen is doing - remasters out of the wazoo lol.
Nintendo likes to play the fiddle of their compulsively spending fanbase
Just look at New 3DS
The reality is NX is the future and they werent about to leave such heavy and popular investments behind on the WiiU
NX is going to carry those titles forward and likely improve on them. Its just logical
Did you expect third party exclusives at launch? Nintendo has much work to do before that happens, if ever.

Exactly. I even own a Wii U and want some of these games ported over.Porting a couple (only one as if now, hypothetically), and suddenly this platform we know nothing about is full of ports.
Legit, this is smart. Wii U games are still new games to millions of people because the platform was so ignored. Why make the mistake of holding Smash and Mario Kart until year 2 of NX when they have a great version of both already ready that not many people even played.
Strong launch helps strong early adoption. Strong adoption and a good lineup will give the platform the legs it needs to be a success. NOT porting critically acclaimed Wii U games would be downright stupid.
If NX launches with like 80% ports, while that's great for people who never owned a wii u, that's really bad press, no? I can already see the headlines.
I'm ok with 'best of wii u' games getting ported little by little over 2-3 years with most of them getting straight up sequel games instead (splatoon and mario kart should get sequels, not ports).
NX needs at LEAST 50% new games from nintendo.

Maybe they expected new 1st party games vs Wii U games that are already out?

How many people actually bought the Wii HD? Check the numbers. Not many. Therefore they can provide "new" games for the NX crowd that refused to buy the worst Nintendo console ever made. That is a great strategy HOWEVER you need new games to attract a new demographic.
Does it work on percentages, though? A port being announced does not mean that less new games have been announced.
I think that if there are enough new games that look interesting, everyone that doesn't care about the ports will just ignore them and focus on the new stuff.

Probably ports of SSB4 and Pokkén, plus whatever else. SSB4 NX makes me hopeful for MK8 NX also.

I don't see why ports would even change how many new games come. I expect 2 or 3 Wii U games to come to NX on launch, including Zelda. The rest will be what it is, ports existing or not.If NX launches with like 80% ports, while that's great for people who never owned a wii u, that's really bad press, no? Honeslty the ports arent meant for current wiiu owners or people who have the games now.
They are meant strictly for all of those people who said, oh one or two of those games on WiiU look neat but I am not buying a dead system for that. Or people who own a 3ds but never bothered to plunk down for a Wiiu etc.
Any porting or remastered game from WiiU to NX is to strictly gice those ignored WiiU more reason to go to NX.
Hopefully there new account system is in place to give loyal folks who supported the WiiU some kind of upgrade discount if they want to do so.

Exactly. If they want people to buy NX then they need to add new contents.

But that takes a steaming shit on everyone who bought the original version of the game less than two years ago, and who have paid a premium price tag for DLC support since. If I would have known that if i just waited less than two years I wouldn't have to spend all the money that I already have on DLC + more content, I wouldn't have bought the game in the first place and just waited.
But if games like Smash4 and Splatoon didn't really help WiiU sales why is porting them to the new console all of a sudden gonna help NX move units? Yes it's going to help avoid "game droughts" but what else those it accomplish?
I'm guessing they will add new characters (besides the DLC for Smash Bros Wii U /3DS). I doubt they would just release a port that includes the revealed DLC. I think they know that would not be attractive, even for the dedicated fans. Even just a few new characters might get people to jump in again.
Here's hoping for King K. Rool and Dixie Kong.

Smash 5 being an incremental upgrade on Smash 4 seems just fine. If it starts with all of Smash 4 as a base and immediately brings back say, Ice Climbers? People will be happy.

Aside from Smash and Zelda. What other Wii U games could up for NX ports?
