If you want the America the way it used to be, you raise taxes, make sure everybody gets more than livable wages and remove special interest from politics.

Only then can you buy a house at 25 again.

"What did we do in World War II? We put all the Japanese in internment camps," said Engelkes, who was standing outside a Trump event in Des Moines. "We had to do something with them."
He's so ignorant that he doesn't even know he's supposed to be embarrassed about that part of history.

Yup this is still a white majority country and liberals are fucking awful at voting unless we have a rockstar politician to vote for.

That is a scary thought. Of all my liberal friends and colleagues last two elections like three actually went out and voted. If Trump gets elected I feel we will see a drastic increase in racial (and possibly sexual) discrimination because those supporters will assume they can get away with it now.

I can already see this election boil down between Trump v Hilary and I don't like either candidate but I'd rather choose Ms. Establishment over a guy who has full support from well known hate groups.

Though there is a small part of me that believes Trump is using the racist, religious, and the stupid to get elected in office but won't actively do the things he's been promising them. He's literally using fear and insecurity of the white voters to get elected then after that he's just going to run the country how he sees fit. No deporting Muslims, Mexicans, making abortion illegal and letting churches run schools, none of that. He's probably has other plans that he's keeping secret for the time being... but that's full retard crackpot conspiracy anyway. I think of that one line by Senator Armstrong from MGR:

"I'm using war as a business to get elected, to end war as a business."

Is just sad.

These folks are the fallout of the shrinking middle class. They're scared and on economicaly shakey ground. And the GOP has used that fear and hopelessness to great advantage to get them to vote for the exact things ruining them. Fear of the other and tribalism on full display.

It ain't the CEO stealing from your paycheck. It's the Muslims and the Mexicans and the Blacks.

Comments like this, and comparing Trump to Hitler are absolutely ridiculous. He's never said anything remotely close to slavery. And comparing him to a guy who was responsible for the deaths of millions of people is so far off it's not even funny.

Trump almost explicitly wants to return the United States to its old racial order. While he may not actually wish to re-institute slavery, many of his supporters legitimately do. A Trump presidency would be awful for Americans of color.

Some poll house needs to start getting specific and asking what decade they think America needs to regress to. Any thing before '80 would be jaw dropping.

I'd be worried about how his hardcore supporters would react if he did that.

God, I really hate that Chris Rock made that nigga/black people joke. While hilarious, it just allows people to have one more justification for their bullshit.
Nah, it's older than that. A high school teacher of mine made the comparison. Note that my school had about 3 black students out of 2400.

Politicians and the Establishment brought this on themselves. They wanted a population that could be uneducated and susceptible to manipulation, but they never imagined that an outsider (unscrupulous?), could hijack the airwaves of control and exploit them for their benefit. They thought they could suppress them before gaining steam but alas Trump for all that he represents is showing us a valuable lesson. I wouldn't vote for him ever, but we need to reflect and learn from this instead of mocking these people, they aren't just his victims, the political Establishment created and nurtured their hatred and ignorance, Trump is just as bad as them but more ruthless and savvy.

It's an old joke, but Chris Rock being candid he regrets he ever said it. Because too many ignorant people use it as a pass.

He wasn't worse than George W bush, so I'm not sure what your getting at.

He's not better than George Bush either. In fact wages are less under Obama than Bush. Wallstreet profits are at their highest ever under Obama, than under Bush. I could go on and on, with the monumental disappointment Obama is. Also he suppose to help undocumented citizens stay in this country by executive order, then why has Obama's administration has been conducting raids to deport them for the past 4 months!

Notice how the people claiming that there's no such thing as racism and how being a minority is no excuse for being held back are the very same ones completely terrified of becoming the minority themselves. Funny that.
Imagine if we replace "muslim" with "gun owner."
So true. I need to find that article showing that deaths in this country caused by mass shootings are orders of magnitude higher than deaths caused by Islamist terrorism since 9/11.

That one in that movie.

Thats the problem, they're penning for a decade in history that only exists in their minds.

That how you get gun sales at record highs at a time with record low crime.

Over half the country. Counting "moderates" and liberals that potentially agree with some of his bullshit.

Remember that. America has a serious problem, and it's going to take a long time and a lot of so called "divisive" behavior and actions to fix.

The "nobody looks out for the white guy anymore" comment is the one that really lies at the core of it. White people - like everyone else in the country - are experiencing a decline in their incomes and economic security, but because the GOP has successfully deflected the real causes (capitalists following their inexorable need for profits causing them to move overseas and abuse technology so that workers are more productive but paid the same) by pinning the blame on non-white-males they have targeted the wrong people for their rage.

"nostalgic for the way America used to be."

Well America used to have child marriage

Do Trump supporters like child marriage?

(seriously though fuck this line of thought. You can't just pick-and-choose. You take the past, warts and all.)

Bush Heralded an Economic depression, cost hundreds of lives on a pointless war, and went to war twice, causing the current instability in international affairs due to the rise of ISIS (his own interventions creation). Bush was the biggest Presidential fuck up in a very long time. You'd have be physically blind to what actually happened under Bush's term's to think otherwise.

Bickie Mason, a contractor from Lyman, South Carolina, who attended Trump's Spartanburg rally in November, said he felt he didn't have a choice but to agree with Trump's idea of tracking Muslim-Americans through a national database.

"I don't believe all Muslims are bad. But anybody can turn bad, and you've got to be able to locate them and know where they're at," said Mason, 64.

55-year-old Susan Kemmelin said, "We can't look at a Muslim and tell if they're a terrorist or friendly."

Robert Engelkes, a 45-year-old corn and soybean farmer from Dike, Iowa, pointed out that there is historical precedent for targeting one group.

"What did we do in World War II? We put all the Japanese in internment camps," said Engelkes, who was standing outside a Trump event in Des Moines. "We had to do something with them."

These people are all gonna vote. And virtually everyone like them.

Anecdotally, I've already had multiple "feel the bern" Millennials tell me they would stay at home before voting for Hillary in the general, because "She's just like the Republicans".

Be afraid, be very afraid.

Yeah but I'm pretty sure no one but you and the class heard your teacher say that. I've seen racists specifically cite the Chris Rock telling of the joke as proof that "even black people believe it!".

Yep. It's like they know minorities are treated terribly in America or something.

What the…?

That is complete utter BS.
Has Trump ever said he doesn't support the views of these supporters who feel he shares their views?

Trump isn't nearly as bad as GAF makes him out to be.

My comment was aimed at "nostalgic for the way America used to be." So really I'm aiming at those kinds of supporters, even if Trump is enabling them.

Someone on Twitter said that almost every sci-fi movie is basically about white people being scared of becoming minorities and it was one of the truest things I've ever seen.

Amazingly enough, fucking up the economy isn't a switch. The economic crash began during Bush's presidency, and not even like a "the hints were there", Bush is the one who bailed out the banks.

No kidding. And even then...

Where have I heard this before?

It feels so familiar and yet I can't place it.

Hey! They aren't racists, man! They know the good ones!

I know a co-worker like that, and really is missing the bigger overall picture, damn I hate some of my fellow Millennials sometimes; I'm a decade older than him, so he's in a that extremely young idealist stage I guess.

HA

I have read enough fucking Trump quotes that legitimately fucking terrify me, so no, he is exactly as bad as he seems.

The thing is, Trump is only about as bad as any leading Republican. The only difference is that Trump isn't an establishment Republican, so if anyone from the party wins, it should be someone who is going to cause a collapse in the party.

This guy gets it. People want their apple pies, '57 Ford Thunderbirds, suburbia, milk men and their relative wealth back. It's not primarily about hate. It's about the never ending decline of the middle class.

at school they tell kids you can be anything you want to be regardless of race/gender.

With people like this who become future judges/politicians/teachers etc im like

Nope.

Lets be fair: Being Millennials, they probably would've forgotten to vote even if Bernie won the nom.

Yeah, he was only being half serious when he suggested that we yellow-star all Muslims in the country!

Didn't really see anything there I didn't already know. A bunch of closet racists spouting bullshit about "reverse racism".

This guy's still getting bulldozed in the general. I'll enjoy watching him fail miserably (assuming people get off their asses and vote against him).

The only difference is Trump isn't afraid to say horrible shit in decoded language.

Someone on Twitter said that almost every sci-fi movie is basically about white people being scared of becoming minorities and it was one of the truest things I've ever seen.

Oh dear... Planet of the Apes? Don't want to take a classic out of context but that's the first thing that popped into my head.

At the end of the day, those whites want to remain as the silent "ruling class" of the USA. It's actually kind of hilarious that we have those kind of people that truly see themselves as nobles entitled to everything and the non-whites are the savages/lower class that should be unable to "exceed their betters." I mean they try to conveniently forget the horrors pre-Civil Rights because to them America was just better that way.... FOR THEM.

FFS I need to take a break before by blood pressure skyrockets.

As fun as it is to mock Trump and the things he says and does, this article is chilling. Trump will ultimately be inconsequential, come November. What doesn't go away is the hate he's stirred up by giving avowed bigots their very own "safe space."

I know an older black male coworker who is voting for Trump because he speaks his mind. When another black coworker told him Trump is racist, he said he's still voting for trump even if he disagrees with him on everything because he speaks his mind and he respects that.

Like...I don't even...

Which is caused by the party they constantly vote for. The Republican base is very stupid.

It's not that decoded. He still talks in tongues, about how the immigration is really about immigration and not about keeping the dirty Mexicans out, about how he's "concerned" for the safety of the country so let's yellow-star all Muslims and kill terrorist's families. Hell, even for Cruz's shit he can't even be honest. He always just goes "HMM SOMETHING IS WEIRD THERE AIN'T IT?? HMMM SOMEONE SHOULD LOOK INTO THAT IF YOU GET MY DRIFT" instead of just saying "kick out the dirty foreigner!!"
