I think it'll be:

-flashback sequence (playable or not depending what's in the tech demo)
-Noctis waking up in an unknown region (might be Duscae) on his way to Tenebrae
-Invasion ofInsomnia occurs
-Travelling back to Duscae/Meeting with Cor
-Trip to Lestallum and Titan event
-Trip to Accordo (through Caem)

The rest is complete speculation but still:
-From Accordo to Tenebrae
-From Tenebrae to Niflheim
-From Niflheim to Solheim/Coastal Area
-Liberation of Insomnia
-Final segment of the game

that makes a lot of sense Philippo

damn this last wait is going to be excutiating...

these next few months will make the last 10 years feel like a damn breeze

Who says we won't be starting in Insomnia? Might not be anything dramatic like the peace treaty party going awry, but probably we'll get to walk around the city before the bros leave for Noctis' engagement meeting with Luna. No clue how looking for Titan, which is the party's main goal during Episode Duscae, fits in during that trip, though. Is it after the Lucis invasion? Do they meet Luna in Altissia before the invasion? I guess so, otherwise I can't imagine how you would be able to peacefully stroll through occupied Altissia without Niflheim army looking for you all the time. Letting you go there for the Noctis and Luna's engagement before the invasion would allow you to enjoy the city fully before you return there a second time later with all the Leviathan-going-berserk drama destroying the city for good.

We're obviously going to see Insomnia in gameplay, yeah, I agree with you there. They went through a lot of painstaking work to model it and it looks gorgeous. My beef is not that we might not get to see Insomnia, because we will, but the fact that the invasion isn't something you're involved in as Noctis. It seems like a huge missed opportunity, especially since Noctis hears about the invasion in Duscae from the trailers. A close region he could just as easily have fled to after the invasion.

Still holding out hope that we'll at least get to play Regis during the invasion or something like that. It's a longshot, though.

I also hope there's gorgeous temples in the game.

There'll be some for sure.

Official Description said:
Luna made many fond memories with Noct in their childhood, but their days of innocence ended abruptly when the empire overtook her home of Tenebrae. Through adversity, she became the youngest Oracle in history. Adored and respected the world over, she now travels in search of communion with the gods to aid Noctis on his journey.

She seems to be playing a Yuna-like role, so she might be making a pilgrimage of the gods' temples.

What exactly happens to the party when Noctis enters a town? I hope the party stops following him but reappears only when he talks to certain characters and cutscenes. Even keeping a small distance from him would be great (sorta like entering the gas station in Duscae but more distance). I wanna explore as Noctis by myself.... UNLESS... Cidney or another gorgeous woman happens to also be in the party...

I hope we actually get to play cards, like in the concept art they teased awhile back as well as the old men playing cards it seemed in Lestallum

Holy fuck how did i wrot this without errors, it was 4 in the morning and i'm sure i was drunk lol

I also hope there's gorgeous temples in the game.

Hope so, only caves as dungeons could become repetitive really fast.

Yeah on paper the OG invasion section sounded amazing.

And yes i hope we get to play an overpowered as fuck Regis in the beginning.

I dont see any thread, but the Uncovered Event will last probably 1.5 hours according to Square!

Imagine that! We are going to see STUFF!

This sounds plausible, but I hope it starts in a city (like Insomnia). Don't mind if there's an exciting flashback first, but don't want the main game to start in media res. I almost always prefer when you have low-stress time at the beginning to get to know some of the principle characters. I want to hang around with the royal family and retinue before getting thrust into the thick of things.

One of my biggest problems with XIII was we never got any grounding with the characters, all filled in after the fact with exposition.

This can be done well (FF VI), but I almost always prefer the opposite. I think 7 and XII both do a really good job of giving you something exciting up front, then downshifting so you can ease into the world and character relations.

I hope Noctis actually has and displays the tact and knowledge that would come from his station.
He should be fairly knowledgeable about the state of the world and its political makeup. Like a certain naivete can be interesting but the whole overly innocent main character thing is boring as hell.

Its gonna be like a shonen anime so he will play the average innocent main character, albeit maybe hot blooded or revenge driven. Their justification will probably be that he was sheltered and everything on the outside of his kingdom is brand new.

Hope I'm wrong.

There could be some awesome temples worshipping Etro or various summons. I think that could be really cool

Has Etro been mentioned or announced? That would mean it links with FFXIII at least a bit right? Or is Etro considered an Eidolon that could be included in any upcoming games?

Noctis is shy, but tries to hide it by "acting cool". According to former director Tetsuya Nomura, Noctis will not have the "Cloud-like" personality, but he will be a new type of character for the series, one which Nomura had wanted to try out for a long time. Nomura said Noctis will have a strong and distinctive personality, rather than being silent and gloomy. In a Dengeki interview, Nomura explained Noctis is an ordinary young man who acts tough because he feels it is his duty to protect his kingdom and its citizens. As a result, he sometimes acts rashly or overestimates his strength.

Noctis is said to have a rebellious attitude, disliking the strict rules of his kingdom and acting as he pleases, sometimes getting his friends into trouble. Despite this, Noctis is protective of his friends. Three young men accompany Noctis: Gladiolus, Ignis and Prompto; their relationship resembles that of the kyodai (brothers) and shatei (little brothers) in the Yakuza hierarchy. The four are later joined by the Captain of the Royal Guard, Cor Leonis, who has little patience for their antics. Nevertheless, his royal upbringing is said to shine through regardless, as reflected in his body language, poise, and posture in contrast to his team.

Well I keep calling her Etro because they haven't given us another name to call her yet because they did say, even Nomura said this when it was still connected to FNC, that they weren't using any names from FNC but Etro always stuck. So it very well could still be her name but there isn't anything else to call her at the moment, maybe Goddess of Death but Etro is much shorter :lol

I could definitely see the opening us controlling Regis and be a complete bonafied badass, while the other controllable noctis stuff isn't him actually fighting per say, but on the run out of the city.

I hope we do get to control Regis at a certain point but not at the beginning.

I hope there's no flashback opening.

Flashbacks and In medias res beginnings are all too cliché and are weak narratively.

Agree.

I think it would be cool if after Cor joins the party he tells a story or something of him and Regis back in the day and we actually get to play that.

I'm still salty they changed the beginning. The bros actually being there and seeing the invasion occur with their own eyes would have been so much more powerful as opposed to hearing about it through their car radio. SO LAME!!

Maybe they didn't want the game to start with the party on the run already and give us a few hours of peaceful travelling to Altissia for the engagement.

But, yeah, I loved the idea of having you attend a snobby party wearing suits that ends in an invasion as the intro. Definitely sounded cool, but the dev team must have their reasons. The big fight in Insomnia probably is still in, just later in the game. See this recently shown concept art:

Man I missed that concept art! I thought they switched the Insomnia stuff to endgame since all gameplay they have shown since the rereveal has been Noctis at "high levels" I might be over thinking that little bit but I think it has some merit and I never believed that Insomnia as a whole was scrapped.

Wait, what??? How does the game start then? You know, what? Don't answer that. Don't wanna be spoiled.

We don't really know. I agree I don't want to know :lol

The official site's synopsis:

In a matter of days, the Kingdom of Lucis is to sign an armistice, ending a long and bitter conflict with Niflheim. Ahead of the ceremony, Prince Noctis, heir to the Lucian throne, sets forth from his homeland to formalize the union of states through his marriage to the Lady Lunafreya of the imperial province of Tenebrae.

The offer of peace, however, is no more than a ruse to lower the Lucian shield, and the imperial army takes the crown city and its sacred crystal in one fell swoop. En route to his destination, Noctis is shocked to learn that he, his father the king, and his betrothed are believed dead.

Overnight, the dream of peace has faded into a distant memory. His world crumbling around him, Noctis has naught but his resolve and his loyal companions to see him through the trials to come.

Probably starts with a few peaceful hours of road-tripping to Tenebrae, but on the way the bros hear about the invasion and then meet Cor at some road who tells him everything about what happened (see the E3 trailer - "You want the truth?"...). Now do they go to Altissia before reaching Tenebrae or only after hearing about the invasion to meet up with the supposedly dead Luna so she can give Noctis the ring she most likely got from Regis before he died during the invasion? I think the reason why she is in Insomnia during the invasion even though Noctis is on the way to meet her for their engagement in Tenebrae is that they were set-up by Niflheim. They told Noctis & Co. that Luna is in Tenebrae and Luna that Noctis is in Insomnia.

See, this can only be at the beginning of the game before all the drama starts, as we know that Noctis isn't at the treaty party anymore wearing a suit. I think we'll be able to walk around the city a bit before we leave for Tenebrae.

I believe suit Noctis is in but not for the peace treaty party.

Wow. That's the beginning for sure.

Ignoring any playable flashbacks any idea of the time span of the story, few days, weeks, months?

Well I feel like the day night cycle kind of complicates the whole time span. That there really isn't a set time of how long the story is, other than the playtime amount

I like your idea. More Laguna styles are always welcome :)

I think that might be what they go for which could be really cool. Also it makes a lot of sense of a camp could trigger the scene since they will be sitting around the fire and Cor could go on to tell it.

Actually i had a terrible hangover all day long hahaha

That's why i think the progression i wrote some posts earlier is pretty much what i think we'll get.

Hope you are feeling better!

I am surprised how much sense you originally made for being drunk :lol but like I said before I like your timeline
