not to get too off topic, but here's the deal here.

The same people that tend to advocate "pro life" policies are ALSO huge fans of "abstinence only" education and shutting down planned parenthood. Instead of teaching teens to be responsible, educating them on sexual health and practices and providing access to contraception, they simply adopt a "don't do it, don't talk about it" position.

This is absolutely does not work well with the concept that these are people who willingly entered into a sexual relationship and just "decided" to be reckless. Do we just throw keys at people who want to drive and just say "don't crash?"

Since the debate is over, I'd like to acknowledge what you're saying. Decent sexual education should be an absolute given for anyone growing up, and it is a tremendous failure that so many adolescents end up being uninformed, or worse yet, misinformed. I would very much like to live in a world where carelessness or ignorance don't factor into the equation, and I suppose my own belief was very much shaped by growing up in an environment in unwanted pregnancy wasn't a notable issue.

To be honest, since I was talking about myself, I was mostly referring to the calculated risk of pregnancy in spite of the use of contraceptives when sleeping with another person.
