Better he gets out now than dying of roids and other drugs down the line.

He reached his peak in his career with his Mania moment and got a title run. A lot more than others can say.

He also got Brie in the end.

Why does this always happen to the nicest people in many areas of life. It just isn't fair.

well let's be fair here. He was kinda reckless in the ring. If you read his book you cringe at some of the things he's done in the ring that he was proud of like a badge of honor. I believe one of his first match with Lance Cade he got a concussion from an insane suicide dive that was done in a small arena.

Considering he has been very concussion prone and even had what, three in how many first few months he ever wrestled yeah its probably a good idea he does get out now. It's as some others said, no one wants to see him ready to die in the ring as we all fear Kurt will or broken down as Mick is.

First time I genuinely shed tears watching WWE last night. It was emotional and heartbreaking. I welled up in happiness when Daniel Bryan won the championship at WMXXX, but this was the first time I shed tears.

It was perfect in the best and worst possible way.

God speed, Daniel Bryan. May you come back someday in a non-competitive role. We'd be worse off without you.

Is the full retirement speech available online?

Deadspin has it in full.

"Roids and other drugs"? I don't think you get who Daniel Bryan is.

How did those previous doctors miss that?
I imagine they ran different tests and had access to different data than the New York tests provided.
Hell, I imagine Maroon didn't even know this stuff.
If nothing else, this should sign a big spotlight on the rudimentary concussion tests that are being run in wrestling, MMA, football and other contact sports as being inadequate.

Bryan explained what he has:

Fuck man, wrestling is clearly his life.

I'm so glad he's retiring because he'd obviously get himself fatally injured just to keep on wrestling.

I hope he's able to stay at the WWE as some other type of role, because the last thing I want is some shady ass organization letting him wrestle.

Dang it Bryan........

I wonder how many others knew about the seizers.. I got the impression Metzler knew something we didn't when he was talking about the situation over the last few months. This is the big smoking gun that was missing.

I know nothing about seizures, so this will probably sound incredibly stupid—but would this be connected in any way to the violent head shaking he does in the ring when he's getting hyped up? That always looked really painful to me.

Bryan won't be wrestling again no matter whether he stays with the WWE in any capacity or not.

Yes, how.

Some docs will just tell you what you want to hear. They were supposedly guys that treated NFL players, right? NFL players are misdiagnosed all the time. I wouldn't trust those doctors. NFL players can get blasted and be back on the field a week later.

I'd say if anything that would cause neck problems.

I have heard of members of rock/metal bands who needed neck surgery after years of being on the road and head banging causing damage.

The human body can break in weird ways.

Maroon is also an NFL doctor, btw.
He's given clean bills of health to concussion-weary Steelers players just like those other doctors do.
Big Ben would probably fail the test that Bryan took in NYC.
This is a systemic issue across the board and across ALL contact sports.
This has very little to do with some doctors seeing something and others not. They're ALL guilty.

I don't disagree.

Hopefully Bryan is smart enough to really stay away. Knowing this I don't know how any other organization or indie can let him wrestle, but carnies gonna carny.

I doubt respectable ones like ROH or Lucha would let him wrestle, but I wouldn't count out TNA with the way they've enabled people like Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy.

Well he has years still with the WWE before his contract runs out. Plus I doubt he is going to wrestle anymore.

Makes you wonder if Tomohiro Ishii took this test what his results would be.

Ideally WWE will have him locked up for a while still and by the time he is free he could be pushing 40 with a family.

I mean shit. This entire situation is a Total Divas storyline waiting to happen.

I don't wonder at all. I know what the results would be.
I'm sure we'd be surprised by some not-so-obvious suspects failing this test were they compelled to take it.

Bryan's reckless, but I think he's really into the idea of having kids and maybe being to someone what his dad was to him.

My guess would be his next professional step is going to be something that goes along with his hippie shit, like working for a charity that focuses on sustainability or something like that.

I had a form of seizures as a kid that took the doctors ~3-4 years to catch. It prevented me from learning how to talk until I was 7 or 8.

Depending on the type of seizure, if the patient isn't "helping" you diagnose it, some of them can take a long damn time to lock in. In my case, it was being a kid. If DB was downplaying or hiding seizures (and not all seizures are the fall-down-and-gag types seen on TV), that'd also make it difficult.

Hell, they had me hooked up to one of those things where they put like 50 nodes on your head and watch your brain as you lay down and sleep and still couldn't detect what was going on, for me.

So basically, Bryan was working the smarks. Knew his brain was fucked, but used questionable docs and online hype to try and wear WWE down into letting him wrestle again.

I still love ya, dude, but damn, that's carny as fuck, breh.

A shame. But his career will forever be a monument to WWE's incompetence.

Makes all the "fuck Vince" smark shit even more insufferable.

Seriously.

Glad this is how he went out instead of yes chants as he head butts then goes into seizure.
Guys, guys, please. Daniel Bryan's condition is perfectly normal. There is nothing out of the ordinary here. In fact, if you made every wrestler take this test they'd probably have the same, or more likely, worse symptoms. No, Bryan is just being unfairly targeted by Vince and that bucky toothed bastard, Kevin Dunn. That's all. This is probably payback for ruining Roman's push.

Does anyone know if the Raw on Hulu has the full retirement speech? Or is it cut down? I know Hulu edits Raw into an hour and a half, just wondering if they edited the speech. If so I wont waste my time and watch through that link someone posted when I get home.
