Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

So here's some fun:

The update did, indeed, make it so that Options/Back functions as the touchpad press, which makes it so that all controls for, say, Destiny are 1:1. This made my WOL better, for sure.

But there isn't a macro for Share anymore. I was thinking that L3+R3 would end up being share, which is fine, but no joy. It's like Share isn't even mapped at all now.

I forgot to post, but I tried it with an Xbox One controller and the view+menu (i.e. back+start) now functions as the share button.

Looks like Amazon is finally updating their estimated delivery dates for the TE2+. I preordered Dec 3rd and mine is supposedly arriving Feb 16th.

Can anyone give me a quick review of the SFxT Ps3 Arcade Stick?

I'm about to jump on purchasing one for SF5, but I want to make sure it isn't a somehow "lessar" stick compared to what I'm used to which is a Tournament Edition Round 2 360 Stick.

I plan to put an octo gate in. Same ease of modding?

Same parts?

I imagine it will be part of the ps3 supported for SF5 at launch.

Are you talking about the Pro or VS version?

hey guys, iam not that much into arcadesticks.... but due the sf5 release iam considering the following:

i have the sf4-T.E. stick for 360.

can i mod it so i use it for ps4 as well as for 360?
is there something like this existing?

oh and another question:

if i literally hammer one or two buttons on my stick, sometimes another button gets triggered(pressing Y shows me that A has been pressed too) so iam not sure what is broken....

i hope you guys can help me out.

You can use a screw driver to open the bottom and change the gate from there.

If you're talking about a quick solution, you can use a brook 360 to ps4 converter. It's said to have 1 frame of lag though. And it has to be updated whenever there is a new ps4 firmware update.

Or if you really want to mod it, you can padhack a fc4 into the stick with a solder.

PCB could be crapping out. How old is the stick?

Fightstick Pro is my main stick. Good weight, fits in a lap easily, and it's not too big. Only downside is the first time you crack it open there's some extra work involved because the screws aren't accessible from the top. But it really isn't a big deal, just adds like 5-7 mins more fiddling.

Thanks guys.

Sound just like my TE2. I had to go in from underneath because the screw on the top side got rusted over... most likely from my intense hand sweating when I play on TE. :( Feels bad man.

Okay. Pulling the trigger! :D

Need help, guys. I have been using a real piece of shit stick since ps3 came out. That hori fs3. Last week, God reached down from heaven and made the fs3 just stop working. So I won't be using that garbage for sfv.

Now I have a nice set of sticks from back when I was More Active.

I'd like to get a pcb or 2 to use these on my ps4, but I have not touched the insides of a joystick in like ten years and I have no idea what's on the market now. Would appreciate some recommendations. I can solder but if there are some with solder-free terminals, I would prefer that.

So according to the following thread we should be able to use PS3 sticks for the PS4 version of SF5, right?

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1181730

Is there some further confirmation or an update regarding this?

I have a PS3 arcade stick with an MC Cthulu PCB - hopefully this won't be any different and will still work fine.

If I know that I can play the game perfectly fine with my current stick I am buying a PS4 along with SF5 day one.

Nice news. I have a pair of ps360+ in an arcade cabinet and was hoping i wouldnt have to buy Brook replacements. I wonder if Share and Touchpad buttons will be mapped somehow.

if you want a solder-free PCB that works for PS4 you can either go with the PS360+ (which has issues with the 8 minute timeout on PS4) or the Brook PCB. That's pretty much your only choices.

For PCBs that require soldering, Brook makes a cheaper PCB that works on PS3/PS4. If you don't need support for other consoles and can solder, I'd recommend this one.

Solder Required:
1. http://www.focusattack.com/brook-ps3-ps4-fight-board-pcba/

2. Padhack a hori fighting commander 4 fightpad

Non-Solder:
1. http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/f...4-fighting-board-with-paradise-breakout-.html

2. http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/h...ting-board-ps3-ps4-xbox-360-xbox-one-pc-.html

Went back and forth, and broke in and got it.

$110 shipped for a barely used (5 days used) SFxT Pro for PS3.

I'll probably grab that brooks converter if I don't like the DS4 method.

I know I'm kind of digging into the annals of stick mods, but does anyone have a link to some info on how to get the player indicator lights on the guide button to work when using an Akishop Customs PS360+ in an Xbox 360 Street Fighter IV Fightstick TE?

The stick itself is pretty damn good. It has Kuro buttons and a lot of people seem to dislike those, but you can easily replace them with Sanwas.

bought the stick day 1 when it was released in 2008/2009 i think=?
what is a PCB? the circuit board?

thanks a lot for the response!

i have two more questions:
brook?
fc4?

my father has stuff to solder, i want an option to use the stick with as many systems as possible...

iam able to pull some parrys, but how much would be 1 frame of lag? if there is a way, i want to have no lag at all, even if iam not really a pro or something...

oh and where do you guys buy your stuff? especially regarding the mentioned problems...

oh and if i want buttons with light, do i need to mod the circuit board, since additional current is neccessary or is the USB-port sufficient enough?

1. Yes. I usually refer the circuit board as the PCB.

2a. Brook is a Taiwanese company that makes converters for last gen usb controllers to current gen consoles.

For example, there is the Xbox 360 to ps4 converter: http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/brook-super-converters/1677-xbox-360-to-ps4-super-converter.html

I never used a converter. So I can not offer more detail than I offered before.

They have also made two pcbs.

One is for ps3/ ps4:http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/f...4-fighting-board-with-paradise-breakout-.html

Other is a five console pcb PS3/ PS4/ Xbox360/ Xbox One/ PC:http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/h...ting-board-ps3-ps4-xbox-360-xbox-one-pc-.html

I have these pcbs in 5 sticks. They are simple to install and since you are using the stick, all you have to do is just cut some wires and just attached them to the terminal. Also you can replaced the USB cable with a new longer printer cable or solder to old cable to the pcb. I'll be willing to offer a picture diagram of the pcb, I'd you need one.

2b. FC4: Hori Fighting Commander 4: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TKLFES8/?tag=neogaf0e-20

I used these to as padhacks for dual modding with madcatz 360 pcbs. Used a dpdt switch to switch the D-(white wire in the USB cable) and the D+ (green wire in the USB cable) between the ps4 PCB and the Xbox 360 pcb to the usb cable. Soldered wires to each pcb's corresponding input; Square to X, Trainagle to Y, Circle to B, X to A, etc. Also connected the Ground and the 5v points together with wires. If you go down this route, I could offer assistance with a more visual guide to the best of my ability.

3. I get my stuff from many places:
Paradise Arcade
Focus Attack
Jensen Custom Creations
Arcade Sjock
Art Hobbies ( All stick art and plexi glass stuff)

The first four pretty much have the same stuff.

4. I think you are asking about LEDs. You need a addition pcb for light buttons. Only one I can think of is this:http://www.jasenscustoms.com/Kaimana-Khameleon_p_59.html Also you will need led pieces for each buttons. I have to idea where to find them. I was lucky enough to buy a VS stick with a old kaimana pcb and led pieces.

If anything looked off, my bad. I was on mobile when I wrote this post and I'm tired as hell.

So with the news that SFV takes PS3 sticks, I'm getting a stick in the mean time.

For me it's down to these three. I know they're all sanwa. I'm not sure which to get but I'm leaning on the cheapest. It will be my first stick.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0038KMOXK/?tag=neogaf0e-20

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FC1UH82/?tag=neogaf0e-20

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001M25AY6/?tag=neogaf0e-20

I'm really leaning on the first one, the white one.

I've played with all 3, owning the 3) TE one
1) I would say stay away from this, but for me, resting your wrist on it causes the art to poke your arm as the edge is not smooth. In the picture, towards the bottom, you can see the exposed edge from the art to the stick. For others this isn't a problem. It's distracting to me.

2) Decent stick no qualms, just less weight and less horizontal space than #3 (TE)

3) I'd worry about PC compatibility on the OG PS3 TE stick. Supposedly they fixed it in newer versions, but the originals have trouble working on PC IIRC.

For cheapest, probably get that Hori, or even more cheaper, I've seen Hori Mini's go for $40 but they are pretty small.

Figured I would post here, coming from another fight stick thread.

Looking to get into fighting games beyond button mashing and looking at entry level stick that I don't have to blow the bank on. Going to be playing on PC.

Someone recommended I look on CL for a used stick and found a SFXT Pro Edition stick (Xbox 360) for $50.

http://knoxville.craigslist.org/vgm/5376715614.html

Will this work on the PC? Anything I should watch out for with this stick?

The 360 will work on PC out of the box, the PS3 one will require capcom D-Input in their game, and there's not ETA on it. That isn't to say it won't work, you just have to download a program to map keys manually.
They are essentially the same stick (different sticker art)
For $50, that is a great deal for an entry stick. Also keep in mind, if you do plan to do tourneys/local, PS4 will be console choice and the PS3 stick should work with SFV with an attached controller is what I understand.

If the sticks are in good condition that is a great deal. If you find the stick or buttons are a little worn you can always replace them for cheap. I use the xbox360 sfxt pro on my pc, working great for the last 3-4 years. Since it's xbox360 pcb is works for SFV on PC without any hitches.

If you meet up with the seller I would suggest seeing if you can test the sticks before buying, if they work and seem in good condition then I'd highly recommend going for it.

No need to embarrass myself :)

Thank you for the reply!

TBH, I am not going to ask a seller on CL to go to his house to see the sticks in action, and def not inviting one to my house that I don't know. :)

I will gamble $50 and hope that it works.

Thanks guys.

I'm getting the Fighting Edge.

But I'm worried that it's too big? I'm much smaller than the target audience for most fighters. I'm 5'5!

I'm not sure if the size of it will be the only challenge, according to description it weighs around 8lbs which might be tiresome for you? You might need to rest it on a table etc? The plus side to weighing this much usually means it's much higher quality instead of plastic flimsy and hollow parts/case.

Good plan. That's so cheap, even if something's broken it's not a big deal to swap in new parts. Most of the stuff that would break/wearout on most sticks isn't all that expensive or hard to replace. Unless the PCB or something is fried anyway, you're at worst looking at swapping in a new stick and/or buttons which is no big deal.

I can't decide between the Madcatz Fighting stick Alpha or Fightpad Pro. This will be my first fighting game in over a decade so I have no preferred input. I thought using the Dualshock 4 was a nightmare(and extremely uncomfortable) in the beta though hence my need for dedicated fighting controller.

I'm also looking at the Hori Fighting Stick Mini 4, but that is probably my 3rd choice. Some advice for a beginner would be greatly appreciated...

if you're going to learn, i say go stick first. it's only like 20 bucks more than the pad and it's a great way to play

do you play with it on your lap? it should be fine once you figure a comfortable way to sit with it. $100 is a real dope price for that, btw.
