Microsoft Releasing Exclusive Games on PC Is Great for Xbox Owners

The only people who would have an issue with MS releasing games on PC are fannies, sorry fanboys.

No I was right the first time. Fannies.

Make them all cross buy and you'll be onto a real winner, MS :)

it would be great for xbone users if they were crossbuy. a game being on pc has no advantage at all for an xbone user, and they may think "why should i pay the online on console if i can play it free on pc?"

Third parties are driving systems, however when both the PS4 and Xbox One have the same games they need their own exclusive titles to differentiate themselves and compete.

Sure both systems have The Witcher 3 but PS4 also has Bloodborne so that might be a reason for you to choose PS4, you might choose Xbox One for Halo 5. Third parties mean a lot but they aren't what bring you to choose a system when both systems offer third party software.

What did Bloodborne sell? 2+ Million?

Halo 5 is around 3 million now?

I don't see exclusives moving systems like they used to. It's also not as if MS doesn't get anything from a PC sale of an Xbox game either. They have made a point about their driving force being to increase monthly active users and getting users into the Win10 store or using Xbox services does just that.

I'm sure Xbox users would gladly pay a one time $100 fee to play online permanently.

That's assuming the per-unit subsidy is only $100 though, and even then it's not exactly a given - those contract subsidised 360s last gen can't have been that popular, or there would have been a similar offer in place this gen.

Why buy a xbox and pay for xbox live gold if a can buy a PC and get better graphics, free online and cheaper games?

A huge part of the console crowd plays mostly multiplatform games, that they could play with better performance and lower price on PC. The console experience is still a major reason of that market, exclusives are often seen as the cherry at the top.
I know I've had a gaming capable PC hooked to my TV for the last month (for lack of a monitor), and I'm not even tempted to use it for games.

For gamers it's good for Xbox one as a brand having their titles on PC day and date is not so good, I don't see how people can't see this. If it was good for a consoles brand you'd see Sony and Nintendo ship their first party stuff on PC too.

Totally agree. Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo all have huge vested interests in the PC marketplace. Oh wait .....

;)

No it isn't, I'm told they are different markets and a sales a sale?. They don't do it because they need their exclusives to broaden the appeal of their console. Having their games on PC would lessen the appeal of owning their box. There are hundreds of millions of PCs out there having ms games on PC day and date very much lessens the appeal of owning an Xbox to those hundreds of millions of PC owners.

Without exclusive console has no reason to exist.Spencer will make history as the man who killed the xbox.I bought the x1 for exclusive and now is a paperweight.

Ok then.

I don't see why people don't understand this. PC is Microsoft's biggest platform. Xbox is small fry compared to PC. Not releasing games on PC is very odd of Microsoft. I'd love to play their games on PC.

I really don't see the negatives here besides the fact that they may lose some potential system sales. The general public is not going to run out there to build/buy a gaming PC just to play some games here and there when they can get a 299-399 console that will play/run the game just fine to their eyes.

People who like to say, "oh well less reason for me to own X1 console" or w/e probably had little to no interest in getting the console in the first place.

The console will continue to move jnits as time goes by, MS will Rack in more money from software, more gamers get to play the game I think it's a win/win.

Seems to be working out well for piblishers who push out PS4/PC games.

Well, Sony still allows third party partnerships to go to PC.

I think it is more that Sony and Nintendo do not need to rely on PC to get the most out of their bigger, first party exclusives.

I'm not faulting MS either. Do what you got to do to make profit. Yes, some of the more hardcore crowd will probably be less interested in X1 but the masses will still be buying the console while money is being made from the PC version. Win win. It is just the position MS is in.

no isn't, I only buy console to play exclusive games that cant be played on pc, so If all exclusive game can be play on pc with better graphics, better frame, more cheap... what it's the deal to buy a console ?

Imo, there is a reason behind this and i think MS is not satisfied with sexclusive software sales (given the unexpected release of ROTR on PC, although timed and Halo 5 not charting in the top 10 NPD for 2015). Now i know previous Remedy games have come to PC and that not all x1 exclusives are and will be available on PC but to give one of the most expected and exciting exclusive for 2016 to PC on relase date, makes me wonder?!?

Well, since there is no cross buy. I think there'll be less people interested in XB1. The only question is: will pc market counterbalance console decline?

If Microsoft is only focused on softwares then just go 3rd party...bring games to Playstation and Nintendo hardwares.

No crossbuy? :(

I think it's important enough to point out that not everyone who has a console, PS4 or X1, also has a PC capable of playing the latest games at acceptable settings. Most people buy consoles so that they don't have to purchase these PCs, and it's not going to make a difference for those people whether QB is also available on the PC.

Both Sony and Microsoft seem to realize that the PS4 is a direct competitor to the X1 and vice versa. The PC is almost a separate entity that they don't need to exclude but rather can gain more overall sales if they treat the platform with the same "respect" as the consoles.

I don't think MS is doing that bad. They just need some more "oomph" in sales and they can (potentially) get it from PC releases.

Lol. You need to realize that while you may have a PC that is capable of running these games at XB1 or higher quality. Many people have no intention of building a tower like that. Also, sounds like MS just did you a favor since you obviously prefer the PC platform. Sell the Xbox and buy a few games if you don't want it. Why am I wasting my time responding to such a stupid post. I suppose a lot more of this stupid "reasoning" is going to pop up on the coming years. I can't wait to see the list wars where MS has no games because they release on Win10.

I would say it's mostly an indifferent thing, at least up front. As someone with an Xbox but not a gaming PC, I'm still getting the same Xbox One games I already was getting

Wait wait. I got this. Let me think back to all the bullshit the console owners spam whenever a system war thread pops up.

Couch gaming!
Cinematic framerate!
Keyboards scare me!
Building a pc is hard and I'm just a simple lumberjack!
Having a GPU that isn't at least 5 years old is against my religion!
A virus once touched me in a bad place!

More people getting to play awesome games is always a good thing.

Then don't buy the console, just buy the games. MS still gets your money.

But thinking about the length of time this game has been in development, the cost must be huge. Cross platform is a way to maximise sales on recoup expenses and profit

What do you mean "no cross buy"? MS announced cross buy is a feature in many upcoming Win10/Xbox titles.

I think you're referring to the internet warriors, right?

Because i can do the same for PC owners!

I am someone who primarily plays on Xbox despite owning or having access to all the platforms including a decently powerful PC. When I see games like Sunset Overdrive come out and barely make a blip sales wise and read posts from other users who want to buy the game but on another MS platform it sucks. I want Xbox games to be successful and PC releases are one of the best ways help to make that happen for plenty of games.

A gaming PC of almost any performance level/price today, with all the Xbox One exclusives on it, is simply a superior Xbox One. There's literally no reason to buy or play on an Xbox One if that was the case.

Sunset Overdrive would certainly sell better on PC, and before long it'd be a dubious proposition to even make it an Xbox One game in the first place.

You're in a position where you elect to play on Xbox One even when given better options - for whatever reason - but it doesn't change the fact that this would make the system infinitely less attractive. Simply count all the posts saying they would sell their Xbox One, or the ones breathing a sigh of relief having "dodged" buying one.

It's great for MS if they can just drop the Xbox system all together and still claim the benefits of owning the "platform" games are released on. It's great for gaming "overall", and the viability of every great game if everyone can play it, like I said in my reply. But better for the Xbox system itself, or better for fans of the platform expecting to be able to buy an "Xbox Two"? Just no. All of the no.

Putting some titles that make sense on PC on PC down the line, and making them cross-buy - that would be "good for Xbox". But day and date circumvents the Xbox One completely, and it'd be even more parenthetical than it already is.

And they promised cross play too. I know that.

But right now those are just promises, right? Cross buy is really how they should do things IMO.

I wouldn't buy an XB1 but if any of my family would go for it I could use my account for them to download games I already have on pc.

There are plenty of reasons to own a console:
- lower entry price
- easier setup
- more reliable
- or because that's where your friends are (and getting better friends is to much of a pain in the ass)

The push quicker to have games like this day and date has to be because of the sales numbers for Xbox one being as they are. I doubt they'd be so quick to do it were they in ps4 position. I think it calls into question the future of Xbox as a console, will they ship another box this box has been such a let down for them if as many say they still haven't hit profit from every box where do they go from here?. Is it worth it too them to continue past Xbox one?.
