Microsoft Releasing Exclusive Games on PC Is Great for Xbox Owners

I'm not sure what MS would be losing, if anything. But this thread is about how this is so great for Xbox owners. So....

It's funny you bring up the Vita. I'm eager to hear the argument that porting formerly-exclusive Vita games to the PS4 like Gravity Rush or Tearaway somehow helps the Vita or benefits the Vita. It doesn't. I'm not saying it hurts the Vita. Heck, it may simply be a symptom that the Vita isn't doing so hot. But the last thing I'd assume is that it means good things for Vita owners.

Most people buy consoles -- hardware in general, actually -- under the assumption that they'll get use out of it. If you think Xbox fans bought the system for Ryse and Forza 5 with no thought about Halo or Gears and other future exclusives, you're crazy.

We've already had a few of those and there are more coming, so those folks who bought in already got value out of their purchase and they'll continue getting value of it because those games are coming to Xbox One as well.

I don't agree. MS releasing their exclusives on PC surely doesn't hurt Xbox One users,
but for me as an PS4 and WiiU owner it takes the last remaining incentive to buy a Xbox One in the future as I'd rather buy a new PC. Honestly if this trend continues, I don't see myself ever buying a MS console again. I'm going all in here: I see this as a sign of MS eventually exiting the console market.
Ok so you will buy MS games on an MS platform! I'm sure they are thrilled.

Anyone take a look at Phil Spencer's twitter today? I hate giving someone like Crapgamer attention, but this was too good.

Whatever Phil gets paid, it ain't enough. I'd hate to have the job of courting a handful of "faithfuls" who constantly harass your twitter all day.

Folks like Mooch & Crapgamer are essentially extreme fanboys who have digged themselves a hole so deep to the extent that it is not enough that MS wins, it's important that Sony/Nintendo loses.

tldr; they're irrational. Less said about them the better.

One of the few things more obnoxious than port begging is anti-port begging. It's been god-fucking-awful when Vita fanboys have done it over games like Gravity Rush and Danganronpa being ported to PS4/PC, and now it's XBone fanboys' turn to be completely insufferable about it, I guess.

Every console has its warriors. I just don't get the reasoning. "You guys realize you aren't actually losing anything, right??" "Well it feels like it Damnit!!!'!"

Who cares? Consoles are a one time purchase and provide a small profit or even a loss at the point of sale.

Games are games are games and money is money is money. It really matters not if there is a console behind it or not. MS would still make money and as a company that's all they should care about. With the W10 store they don't need to pay anyone a cut so it's no different than releasing on their own console.

Think that's bad, don't go look at the xbox subreddit for QB being announced for W10.

Not a single postitive post, and a reminder to why I stopped going there.

But they make a living with those persona, gonna keep digging for subscribers.

Thats pretty much how i see it. it doesn't really do anything for xbox owners. Will a bunch more games be made and ported to the ps vita if gravity rush or tearaway does really well. The answer is nope. Microsoft right now is simply trying to temporarily fix a problem with software sales and in the long run damaging hardware sales which will lead to even more loss of software sales.

I am not sure whats so great about current xbox one owners. It great for anyone with a PC though!

It's great because this just increased the chance xbox owners get a sequel and that MS still finds games worth investing in and continue to fund great games. You really couldn't see these benefits for xbox owners?

tldr; they're irrational.

Like most people when it's about money.

We've seen it everywhere: people bashing something because they can't afford it, people bashing something because they'd like to have it but it has no games (except, you know, that one that they want so bad), and so on.

Gamers (or even better: consumers) are weird.

I disagree with the thread title.

While I agree it's great for consumers in general, most of the belief that this will be good for Xbox One owners is based on a large pile of questionable assumptions.

The most likely result for Xbox One owners is a neutral situation, where the games being released on PC has no effect on them.

I agree that it's more likely to be beneficial to X1 owners than to directly hurt them, but I see no signs that this is going to turn into a whole bunch of previously non-existent Xbox One titles just because people wish it so.

I don't see why people not believing in the pile of assumptions that pie-in-the-sky people making are being called irrational or console warriors.

This move causes there to be a better chance of Quantum Break having a sequel.

Xbox gamers who like the game have a better chance at receiving a follow-up with this move. So yes, this is good for everyone interested in the game.

Cross buy is good for Xbox and PC gamers. Devs making more money is good for devs and gamers. Cross play could be cool on a lot of titles. Many title could be problematic. A lot of people just like the simplicity of console gaming even if PC gaming is a simple as ever these days. Some people just like the console gaming experience.

The potential for cross platform play is always a plus.
The potential for expanded sales on a new IP that turns out to be amazing is always a plus.
Never been a fan of exclusivity, the sooner we can all play together, the better.

No this is great for PC gamers. That's how i see it sorry

Well, nothing has changed, which is fine by me. I bought my Xbox One and PS4 because I prefer consoles and these are games that I was going to play on Xbox One anyway.

But hey, at least I know these games will fare far better, which will in turn help for sequels and other future games for me to enjoy. This only stands to help the Xbox One, not take anything away from those who prefer to play on consoles anyway.

It his own fault. He is talking with them all the time. MS/Greenberg sending them gifts etc. Even tho some of them are well known racists.

Holy shit crapgamer and timdog are melting down on Twitter.

I can't believe Phil spencer is even giving them the time of day. He should be distancing himself from these fools as much as possible.

I imagine he will at a certain point. It is all he can really do.

I'll give you the game part is speculation largely built around Alan Wake but there is a game that, had the PC port been at launch, could have gotten a sequel. As it stands the game eventually did do well enough, I'm sure thanks to said port, to get a sequel but it was too late after release and Remedy had moved on.

If games like Alan Wake sell more, which is what will happen if they are available to more people, they will be more successful.

And that's not counting the benefit of crossplay either. I have a hard time believing that getting to play Sea of Thieves with my friends on PC is anything but a positive.

While i agree, it is refreshing to see him call them out on there extremism though

Going to buy some Nvidia and Intel shares, sounds like loads of people are going to build high end PCs and I might get a cheap second hand Xbox One when they flood the market.

If a multiplayer game releases on two platforms, and has crossplay, is that not increasing the longevity of the game since the player pool is now much larger?

Case in point: Killer Instinct.
Possible case in point: Sea of Thieves.

Took me 2 seconds to think of that, yet this is now page 13 with several people still repeating "I see no benefits to people who just own an Xbox one".

That makes sense but also QB being on PC means less people like me will buy xbox one(this april al least) so that's another way to see it.

Also some people should grow up and start posting something other than "LOL" and pictures wthout wnything elase

xD

I love this kind of threads, they always bring the funny (not talking about you jelly).

Sony and Nintendo should follow suit. PC isn't competition.

PC is free money. ;)

Those are going to be exclusive to the Windows Store though, with a lot of people being steam exclusive on PC and with the memory of GFWL still fresh it's best to wait and see how many users are going to use that marketplace.

I was just reading the thread on twitter. Pretty amusing stuff. The XO subreddit too. Bit of a shame because Quantum Break actually looks great in the newly released footage, but that's sort of getting overshadowed by the new release news.

Not sure why Phil even responds to racist console warriors like crapgamer, but his response to crapgamer and all console warriors encaptures my thinking also...you're going to be upset and not play a game you wanted to play because now others get to play it?

Like lol

Seems a handful of warriors are taking it pretty hard. Other than that we just have Disaster Nebraska trying to spin this so it seems like MS did something bad.

Nebraska doing work lol.
Gotta make sure people know that other people have now less incentive to buy a console they were never going to buy anyway!
Say that to my face. u wot m8. Fight me like a man. Etc.

But really, if you disagree you should explain why. I've laid out my points quite calmly and fairly. It paints you in a bad light when you just label people as "warriors".

Why did I buy a Xbox One again? As a Day 1 owner I feel like I've made the most stupid purchase ever.
I totally hear you.

I'm disappointed in MS, even though everyone should profit from this. At least in the short run.

As someone who used to be a diehard Xbox and Xbox360 fan, happily owning a ps4, wii u and a decent pc, it's the exact opposite for me. Makes me even more glad about my decision to pass on Xbox for this generation.

For those with gaming rigs who prefer to play there anyway, sure. But for those who want an Xbox One because they prefer consoles, not so much. And that is your majority of people looking to get one to begin with.

Well, consider the news of PC version come rather sudden and simultaneously launch? It's was exclusive for 3 whole year until 2 month before release, I can understand the emotions.

Your only looking at this from the sale of exclusive games from the xbox if microsoft doesn't have folks buying the console then they lose sales from third party games then they have no reason to make a console and then they have less reason to fund games outside of what their own company personally makes. That means no scalebound, no recore, sunset overdrive, ryse, titanfall, and the list goes on whether it be from even Sony or Nintendo. If any of these console makers quit the game their will be large number of big budget games that will no longer be funded.

For better or worse, when Xbox does positive stuff, it'd be folks like CG that sings high-praises to high heavens on social media, and CG does have a following.

And Phil is active on Twitter a lot.
