I know the idea is that we're supposed to want every game on every platform, but if I bought an Xbox One or PS4 I'd be pretty mad at how pointless they are given how few exclusives there are on either and how much cheaper it is to buy games on PC, particularly for us here in Canada.

Yea a little. If they are releasing most games on PC as well, they should either lower the Gold price (which I doubt will happen), or improve their Games with Gold offerings.
These games will more than likely be Windows 10 store exclusives, which I will buy. Not everything needs to be on STEAM even though I would kind of like all my stuff in one directory.

I want stuff on both PS4 and XB1, but I just don't want to have more clutter in my house and I don't think 5 or 6 games on one platform over the course of 5-8 years would be worth it. Does qb even have online play? Does it bother you that people can play the majority of the xbox's games already for free online on pc?

Exactly, and I owrn an Xbox one and PC and I'll be playing these games on PC. And my friend who own a PS4 and PC will play them on PC, and most of my friends who do not own current gen consoles will get it on PC.
It's a win win for Microsoft and for gamers, and a lose lose for whiny fanboys, and that suits me just fine.
If they have a gaming PC, why would they ever be upset that they now have the choice play a better looking/performing version of the same game? If they're upset that they spent money on an xbox for games that aren't even out yet, I don't know what to say.
This will get more people and sites talking about QB. Someone who's not a hardcore gamer may hear about it and know they can only play it on PC or Xbox one, and could just as easily choose the xbox one to play it on.

As above, the only niggle in this (more games for more people, what's the fucking issue?!) is the Live paywall divide. Doesn't affect QB, but what about Halo Wars 2, for example?

Yup, you figured me out. This hasn't been something I've been thinking about for a year or so now. I actually have no friends on PC who I'd like to play games with either and I hate Alan Wake. Very happy it never got a sequel because the PC port was too late.
Bad sarcasm aside aside I don't mention MS going fully third party and releasing games on PS4 because, unlike Windows, MS doesn't have an investment in that platform and it is not likely to happen at the moment.
Yeah, I have accepted it as part of the deal. I prefer to play on consoles, so it goes with the territory.

Microsoft is a software company , that is the reason we wont see MS brand laptop or desktop; Xbone is losing on the console market and probably even these days MS has little profit for every unit sold. Also the console market is struggling againts mobile games and apps.
MS corporate just see the game segment as an small venture so they decide to use its most profitable assets (games IP)to include them on the windows universe. This does not means is the end of Xbone and surely we will see a new MS console but it won't be a standalone product it will be part of a bigger product called Ms Windows or whatever you want to call it.
I think that is better for the future of games.

At the end of the day, I hope this proves successful. It seems like they've figured that their console sales come from a different market segment. I don't think it means anything for Xbox hardware. This is them testing the water, looking to increase revenue and hopefully boost the Xbox brand.

However, I have no regrets about it. Rock Band 4 more than justifies my Xbox One and it's a great media device. Lego Dimensions more than justifies my PS4 too, for what it's worth.
Neither are cheap habits, I'll admit... but they sure as heck ensure that I use those two systems enough to feel justified in owning them.
This though, this feels like Remedy coming home. The PC release of Alan Wake was really good, but we all know what happened with the 360 version coming out first. I hope people play their free Alan Wake games, and this helps make Alan Wake 2 a reality. I know how much Remedy want to make it.

I don't think Quantum Break is really going to be one of those games that is going to hurt Xbox too much by going to PC. It's not like a single-player action game is going to be driving Live subs.
It's a good strategy for MS really. Throw the single-player games on the Windows Store to introduce people to buying games from there and get a bunch more sales, and keep multiplayer games on Xbox where they can drive Live subs and maybe release them late on PC to get a second round of sales. And gamers win because the games are available in more places.

Funnily enough, ingrained by Microsoft themselves. They did try that shit on PC, but it failed woefully. So it's less them being gracious for not having pc owners play their games online for free, and more they know if they even tried it would be an abysmal failure.

The surface book gpu is pretty close to a 940m. It's kinda garbage for gaming and won't manage new games particularly well. It gets sub 25fps at 1080 in bioshock infinite.

I wonder if Microsoft will actually push Surface Books with these games, then again I don't the Surface Books can even play these games remotely well if at all looking at the reccomended specs.
I see the next Xbox being a console you hook up to a Windows PC through Thunderbolt or something like that and it can get that extra power and stream it(or send it through HDMI) to a TV (or on your monitor). Enjoy Xbox games powered by your PC at higher framerate and all that shit.
