Street Fighter V |OT| No Options to Select

This is literally the worst design choice I have ever heard of...what in the actual fuck?

I think you can still do character select in lobbies (I wouldn't know, I haven't gotten in any yet, lol), but those don't earn you Fight Money.

It's a good feature. It reduces load screens so you get to matches quicker. They should streamline how you set it though.
That's rational. Assuming you're someone who sticks with a main character, it should indeed curtail the wait times.

Laura's story was kinda bad... that storyline was so basic and bland. She has much more potential to have an engaging and fun story.

And Ryu "pondering" his fist? Who the heck wrote the story for the game?

Yeah, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to choose characters for Casual matches. It makes perfect sense for Ranked, though.
No sense for either...I get some of you enjoy using the same characters over and over...but I prefer variety and picking whoever I feel like.

With this game the servers could very well be dropping people and it not being a rage quit. Last time I tried lobbies my friends game would crash in the match.

Guess that's probably be what happened. It just seemed like he gave up after I blocked and punished him twice. He just sat there and after a few seconds said he disconnected.

Ryu always does that with his fists.

He's a just weirdo, no wonder he became a tramp. And anyone who mains Ryu is tramp too.

That's Necalli against everyone. He gets in once or scores one CC and he fucks you up.

It's worse with Nash because he has no reversal and his walk speed is ass. You just have to hold that unless you use V-trigger or V-reversal. He corners you without meter and it's night-night. Probably my worst match for Nash right now.

FANG on the other hand? Easy peasy.

Most people tend to be better with one character so they're likely going to pick that when there's ranking on the line. Skipping over loads and time spent picking characters is a plus in my book.

I literally have no idea what im doing but... Im having a lot of fun with Laura and I think ill take the time to practice with her as my first main.

Not necessarily. Most Necalli are using M.Stomp for his frame trap on block. Most crouching lights will beat it. I've had both a Nash & Ryu in beta 4 (mind you, I got as high as the top 1000 at a few points) who were stopping my pressure tools with cr. lights/jabs.

Necalli actually has a hard time getting in on someone like Ryu & Nash AS LONG AS YOU DON'T THROW PLASMA. Seriously, this put a huge wrinkle in my Necalli for awhile until I figured out a way around it. See, Necalli's range on his normals are that good, and most of his confirms need to be done near in order to maximize his combos, so you're gonna see a lot of Necalli's jump in either up close or medium range. So a ton of players would push me out of my pressure game with jabbing lights, then wait for me to jump & nail me with anti-airs, all while not throwing me projectiles & giving me a free hit.

How I countered this strategy was I started using my v-skill at medium/long range. Since they weren't throwing projectiles, I usually got a free block on my v-skill, which would then lead them to jump at me to try & get away, which I would then anti-air. God, I love the mental chess/yomi of this game. Its incredible.

Capcom needs to implement a different way to get these costume colors. I love them but grinding all the time is annoying especially if the severs fuck up. Seriously? Come on now.

Nash's V-reversal teleports him out of Necalli pressure. Don't try to zone him with plasma, and you should be fine - Nash's normals outrange Necalli's, and you can just normal AA Necalli's jump-ins. If the Necalli is good, he'll start using v-skill to pressure you into moving/jumping, but thats if he's good.

Hopefully, they add those stage humiliation things for more of the stages. I can get them to happen very consistently on Bustling Sidestreet, but the same stuff doesn't do anything on the other stages.

are the noodles still in? People keep saying it has been taken out.

Can't you switch characters from your battle settings from most menus in the game?

Yeah, you just gotta get used to doing that. Sometimes it catches me off guard and I'll practice a characters in Training but then play as another. Just gotta get used to it.

I'm sure we'll be getting colors as an option to buy in the shop when it launches next month.

I wish I knew dlc was capcom-account locked in this game...

I gameshare with my friend, so I pre-ordered the game on the shared account only to discover that Chun Li's alternate costume can ONLY be used on that shared account. (Because the costume is tied to the capcom account created when she started the game rather than the psn account). The costume dlc does not show up in the PS4 library/download list at all.

Or design a game that actually lets you choose your fighter before the game...crazy idea I know.

I actually would've preferred if it went to a character select screen when matchmade in ranked matches IF I was queued through the ranked match queue option. Otherwise, having my 'Favorite Character' be my choice, so its background matchmaking me while i'm in the training room or in survival is fine with me. You can change the settings right in the pause menu during either of those modes.

Then again, this would've likely created two separate pools of players; 1 that is sitting in the ranked match queue, and another set that is doing a background matchmaking for ranked match. They probably could've made it so that you don't have to see your opponents character selection when selecting your character until choices are locked in (like in Ultra), that way you could have a fusion of both player pools.

They should give the option to unlock them based on number of online wins with a specific character. I haven't gotten to play much because I've been incredibly tired these past few days, (work a physical job and then having to dig out/push cars due to the recent snow storm) but I'm not really digging survival because I don't dig single player in general for fighting games.

I'm not playing for bonuses or even fight money. I'm playing for fun. Maybe I'll just fly through easy survival for characters I care to play to gain a third color option, but I'm not loading a bunch of time into it.

THAT'S BECAUSE... YOU AREN'T DOWNLOADING ANY COSTUMES. THE PREORDER COSTUMES ARE ON DISK. PUTTING A PREORDER COSTUME CODE JUST UNLOCKS THE COSTUME.. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SELECT THAT COSTUME WHEN SELECTING CHUN LI. TRY IT... LEMME KNOW IF IT WORKS.

Lounge has been stable as hell for me for about the past hour. The most stable it's been yet actually.

Been playing a bunch of FT10's with a buddy with lots of character switching in between. Please Capcom, keep it this way.

Honestly, do survival while doing background matchmaking for either or Ranked, Casual, or both. Gives you something to do while the game is finding you a round, if no one else is around to play the game with you either locally or online. Its how i've gotten through the matchmaking lulls. It helps.

Laura is OD imo. How tf do u stop her.

She has no answers for full screen fireballs/zoning and gets destroyed by grapplers. Characters like Chun, Gief, and a good Sim can absolutely wreck her.

She's a strong mixup character so once you let her get going, she's hard to stop. Basically, stop her from getting in.

lot of it feels like a set up for the "actual" story mode. Each person kinda ends their story mode in position to where "shit gets real" w/ whatever Bison is planning. If the full intro is a hint and not just a design choice, Laura shows up without pupils and looks a lot eviler than she is portrayed in her story mode...so perhaps she gets Bison'd or something. Ryu pretty much HAS to get over the satsui no hado in this game so his role isn't surprising.

I like what they did accomplish with many people's story mode actually...nice set up at the very least
