Man I can't wait for 8-player lobbies and spectating. Been streaming while playing lobbies so other friends can watch lol.

Gonna hit ranked this weekend and see how my Bison fares. I still need to work on charging during attacks/combos but I feel a lot better about my pressure with him now.

I like the fact the game decides if I start getting complacent and think I might be getting better to match me up with the same Karin about 2000 LP higher than me to remind me 'no, you ain't learned shit yet, get back in there'.

A lot of it is just the mental game since grapplers try to notice patterns players do. The main thing is neutral jumping, but if they keep seeing that they'll start to punish it and make you afraid to jump, then they'll start to throw you and get momentum. Alternatively staying at a range that favors you more and forces them to be risky to get in.

Zoning is always the best if it's an option though. Since you can try to frustrate them and block them from getting anything going.

Is zoning, jumping?

Zoning means keeping your enemy at a distance. For example, Zangief will always try to get as close as possible because all of his abilities rely on him being close.

So Nash will use fireballs and long range-normals to keep a fair bit of distance so that Zangief will never be able to get close enough to deal any real damage.

I think my favorite Bison change is making his down+fierce a great anti air tool. In 4 I always tried even years later to use it that way but ate shit for it. It's go to take me a while to get used to his heavy kick being a third the range it used to be.

Been pretty smooth for me the past two days. The only issue I've been seeing is ranks not displaying correctly, but that's pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.

His HK has shit range but it's SO GOOD. Also his forward cr.hp is great stuff. And you can combo into cr.mp with both of them.

Bison doesn't have as many good tools but the tools that he does have are pretty good.

Wrote that down in my document. Thank you very much! :)

Should request be on? What about system pref?

If you want to play online then yes request should be on.

System preference doesn't really matter much, only if you're unlucky and get matched up with the one of seven total PC players who don't have a consistent 60 frames.

EDIT:
Oh I misunderstood what you meant by request. Request doesn't make a difference, just allows you to choose and see if the player/connection is something you find acceptable.

so stick users: set stick to dpad or analog? thoughts?
Use D pad. The joy stick itself is digital. If you have it on an analog function, you'll get an input lag on directional input where it'll register you holding a direction for an extra second after you let go. If you want to test what I mean, go in to training, walk forward and let go. You'll take and extra two or three steps after you let go.

Thanks I was just about to clarify.

asked this earlier but is there any way to see what my connection rating is incase that is causing me a problem matchmaking?

"Connection Rating" is the rating of the connection you have with a particular player.

It might be great with the guy who lives 300 km from you, but not so great with the guy who lives on the other side of the world.

Try to use battle lounges or activate the "ask for permission" or whatever option in the network settings menu. That way you can see how good a connection you have with the player matched up with you before you accept.

EDIT:

Or perhaps I am again misunderstanding something. Did I answer correctly or did you mean something else?

My combo of choice is neutral or jumping towards them HP, HK, crouch MP into fireball. If they block the end it creates a little breathing room. Gives a great amount of stun also.

Yeah, that's good. I've been using lk.scissor kick but maybe I should use fireball too, cause it gives a little bit more pushback.

If you have V-Trigger ready to go, you can do regular HP into H.Scissor kick into V-Trigger into cr.mp xx lk.scissor kick xx EX Inferno.

General tip: set matchmaking to "accept manually". I have it at 4-5 only and the game is giving me 1 bar opponents from time to time. I mostly had great matches since I accept myself.

86 points for a loss when I only get 36 for a win.

Fuck this game.
Really though, this is complete bollocks. I get only 10-25 points when I win and lose 86 when I lose a match. For some reason it's not matching me with silvers just rookies, bronze and ultra bronze.
It's an ELO-like system, you don't get many points if you beat lesser players. It's a good system.

I get like 10 points a win most of the time and if I lose that's like 100+ points down the drain. It's pretty rough when you aren't getting people in your point range lol

That's a hot tip. I didn't know accepting manually would show you the connection quality, thanks!

So everyone always said it was a personal preference thing...

And my sticks came with square gates, i figured thats what I would learn on.

I was putting silent buttons in my hrap ex yesterday and figured i'd try an octo gate i still have my vx sa with a square if needed.

HOLY SHIT!!! My excecution was so good last night and i had no trouble with diagonals which was my big worry!

Octo for life!!!! Gonna put one in the vx sa as well!

@demoli

Yes my rank is stuck as well

Finally, Silver.

Also, anyone else's rank just not updating? Mine's stuck at 7k since 2 days ago when i got super bronze, and when i check my ranks they are still counted as if i have 1k lp and not 2k

I wonder how strict capcom will be with them kinda hoping its hard like all lp is wiped and cant play ranked matches for 24 hours
That's absurd, everyone can get dced once in a while and introducing a way to wipe LP would also bring a smurfing problem. What you do is firstly have the disconnecter lose the match like usual, then ban them from matchmaking for a period of time that increases with every offense and cools down over time. Can dock additional LP as well.

Now for the few people with REALLY spotty connections, tough luck. There should still be casual for those players since such a penalty system is only required for ranked.

Holy shit guys, your advices were spot on!

I worked on my anti airs and pokes last night and went from being completely obliterated by one of my friends to winning 4-2 against him today! I still have a LONG way to go and make many mistakes during my matches but right now, this feels awesome. It feels like I actually grew a little bit as a player!

Ha, yeah. It's like this with Windows:

This is stupid, the USFIV penalty was fine. A loss would be about 50-65 BP, a disconnected would lose you about 90.

I bet they're thinking "The connection is fine from tester #1's PS4 to tester #2's PS4 so everythign is a-ok" while the server is in the basement.

Ha, yeah. It's like this with Windows:

Thanks for keeping track of my files, Windows.

disconnects should def make you lose a lot of shit. don't care if intentional or not. don't be on a shitty connection if you play online. laggers suck.

The matchmaking sucks.

Adivice for the noobs.

My play was so much better last night. Reviewing my replays its because my block strings and punishes were on point.

I kept fighting kens and i was able to block both high and low properly when they would rush me down, and it made all the difference.

Some player CeeJaySteele dropped on me twice lol. What a bum.

I hadn't had anybody drop on me since the games launch but have had it happen 3 times today. Hope they fix this up soon. I hope they are bold with it, fight money deduction along with a match loss LP deduction.

wifey is workin tnght, so im gonna sit my ass down and play a lot of SF V

if anyone want to get some sets in, add me!
