Fire Emblem Fates Releases in NA Feb. 19th; $80 Special Edition Announced

Gamestop is actually shipping them out? I figured if they haven't shipped them by now, it might be time to hunt down separate copies.
Yep. Even a poster that was worried because he chose 1 day shipping for the SE, got the confirmation of it been shipped along the keychains. Others reported shipping but expected to arrive at later dates.

Quoting myself here but I ended up contacting amazon customer service and now I'm worried and confused.

I edited out any important details.

Its not just me right thats confusing as fuck. It may be lost, it may not be lost (According to the tracking information which I'm still looking at it shipped out from a few states away like 3am this morning, it may just not have arrived locally yet).

So either I'm still getting the order (although a day late) but for free and a month extra on prime or I'm getting the refund and not getting my order.

I honestly don't know what to do from here, I planned my whole day around playing the game once it arrived and now I could wait to see if the tracking updates and I am still getting it (it sounds like from the email I got it should still be on the way? IDK) but that would be tomorrow or I could attempt to go and track a special edition down maybe at a Walmart since I'm getting the refund anyway.

I'm thinking that the amazon rep was just busy and just trying to get it resolved as quickly as possible and couldn't confirm anything so he was just assuming its lost but idk. What a weird way to start my day.

You're not going to like to hear this, but the reality is release day shipping with Amazon is highly dependant on the carrier. For most of the release date games they don't ship them till the day before (notice with highly anticipated games EVERY release people are panicking the day before till they see it shipped? thats why) which gives the delivery company no room for error. So if they have any problems, like weather, yea, it sucks. Just be glad its not something much much worse like a lost package that would most likely not be able to be replaced.

Guys what can I do?

I can't do anything on the website. Trying to change my address results in it saying that option is not available at the moment. Trying to change the shipping speed tells me the same thing. It doesn't even show me the shipping options.

I am unbelievably pissed right now.

Amazon is an absolute nightmare for video games now. Was scheduled for arrival today, got the shipping confirmation, looked at my date and it says it's scheduled for Monday. Got a UPS notification that I have a package arriving today from Amazon. Started an Amazon customer service chat and I did all the talking, they didn't say a word, and then they said "we can upgrade you to on day shipping for a fee."

It's still coming on time I'm assuming, but seriously? Get bent shitheads. The 20% discount isn't worth it.

For those of you who switched shipping info at best buy and it seems to have started to work, how long did it take for it to happen?

I changed my shipping speed at 7:04AM and I've been checking to see if it started to be prepared or not for a while so I think it took somewhere between an hour to an hour and a half to change.

You could try calling Best Buy, their support number is 1-888-237-8289.

I had to call them about a week ago to change my card and that went over without any problem except I think that's why I can't see any of the shipping options.

This is fucking bullshit.

But thats the thing if you read the part I quoted, the rep said it actually MIGHT be lost. Thats the strange part he doesn't know either way >.>

I think Nintendo is partly to blame for undershipping like always.
I'd say the problem was more related to the friday release.

Stores got their shipments on time.

Is online retailers the ones going through problems with only Best Buy going through issues as of 6 hours ago and how some are "fixing it" by changing shipping. Amazon being late for some is part of their course over the last year.

Nintendo sent the same low estimate they told them in November. Apparently even having some remaining ones as can be seen with Amazon putting a few more for under 30 minutes and Best Buy putting around 2k on eBay around the time the delay emails went out.

from the sounds of things that 2k was actually a mistake and it seems a lot of them were getting cancelled

seems like all 3 major retailers bungled this preorder.

Yeah, unfortunately. Which means there's probably been an issue with the supplier. Wouldn't be the first time Nintendo didn't communicate well with it's retailers. At least I got $30 (I think, it's been a while) from the gold zelda 3ds. Maybe best buy will bribe me again on this one. At this point I don't care much as long as I eventually get my CE.

These are reps, usually from India, who are just trained to appease. They also sometimes will have trouble picking up what you are asking and just go right into appease mode. They probably don't get why someone would be freaking out about a game not being delivered exactly on release date and for some reason assumed you were freaking out because you thought it was lost. So they just went right into trying to appease you as best and as fast at they could. It's miscommunication. If your tracking says its in transit with a scheduled date then thats what it is, a customer service agent at amazon isn't going to know anything more than that.

Yep. It seems likely that Best Buy oversold preorders (they had it more hours open than Amazon, Gamestop and didn't made peoplw to call like Wal-Mart) and started shipping them based on some other factors.

Otherwise we would be hearing delays and cancellations all over the place. When Gamestop and Amazon have no problems cancelling orders as they've done in the past and even Gamestop did with this SE months ago.

Yep. In some cases the reps from India are more apologetic even and quickly offer refunds, discounts or upgrade shipping methods precisely because they don't fully understand the problem.

Man. No one likes it when a package doesn't come on time, but the language in here is pretty highly dramatic is isn't it!

I'm trying to be empathetic to people hyped up but all I can think of is this

People are going to start over-panicking and cause more trouble for themselves.

I thought neogaf was all about believe.

not about impossible.

what other rare special edition games has Nintendo made? this and Xenobald are the only ones I know...

Legend of Zelda Majoras Mask + Skull Kid Figure or Zelda Windwaker WiiU game + Ganondorf figure?

Fair enough, just a weird thing to experience is all.

Also I angrily tweeted their official twitter last night and they said the March date is a mistake and that I should keep an eye on my e-mail for an update today

So I'm betting for whatever reason these weren't available to ship until today and then the e-mail say it is delayed automatically goes out all the while they were selling them on eBay too.

It's just a ridiculous amount of timing, bad luck, and automated processes.

this whole stock thing has been quite a weird one with stuff glitches happening in some of the most unexpected times :/ i really hope the people who preordered earlier on manages to get there SEs without any more hassle

i have a feeling that random ebay listing really mucked everything up considering the system suddenly had a whole bunch of orders with not enough supply

I just saw that on their Twitter too. Disaster averted..?

On a somewhat related note, Best Buy had sent me an email today (a couple hours after the Fates SE delay email) that the amiibo travel bag I had ordered that was originally supposed to be ready for pick-up today was delayed to 2/24.

but just now, I got another email from Best Buy that says it's ready for pick-up.

I think something weird might be going on at Best Buy.

Boss told me he isn't coming in, which means I could have actually gone to wait outside Fry's and worked from home without repercussions.

[SCREAMS INTERNALLY]

Yep lot of names I recognize from last night on that BB support twitter getting tweeted at

Just give me the damn game at some point early next week BB :(

Yep. And also some just need a bit of patience and to relax a bit. I know is easier said than done but outside the current situation from Best Buy (stores should be opening by now too), everything else seems to be...normal.

Amazon has been a mess over the last year. At the moment, them not shipping every order faster or shipping it later than expected is part of how they've been working by now. Is why the moment I placed the order I knew they weren't going to ship mine until release as the earliest...back in November. Heck, in my case I've had preorders with estimates beween day 1 to day 7, shipped on day 6 with one day shipping to make it here on the day 7 estimate. Is just normal by now. That it din't happened to you before? Well now it did. ;)

Amazon and Best Buy are also the only ones that offer discounts. So the focus is more concentrated over those 2. Is why Gamestop shipping report are less and heck, no reports from Wal-Mart.

Best Buy forum finally got an update from support.

Hello friends,

We are aware that there may be delays with some orders, and we are very sorry for any disappointment this has caused. At this time we have no reason to believe that any of you won't get a copy of the game.

This is being reviewed here at our corporate office as I type this, and you should see updates via email going out soon. Thank you for your patience in the meantime. Thank you too for the passion you bring to gaming with Best Buy.

As long as I get my copy of the game (and presumably some sort of compensation for this situation) I'll be content.

? I don't see how. This will only make people more desperate and the copies in the market more valuable.

I'm not selling mine, but my copy is out for delivery right now. I'm sure I'm not the only one still on-track for today.

I mean the ones that have already pre sold their orders if bestbuy ends up canceling.
