Street Fighter V |OT| No Options to Select

I can't believe how ridiculously good Bison is in this game. So many of his moves are -2 or better on block, his damage is insane, and he just has so many options.

Pretty sure we're going to see Chun, Sim, and Bison leading early tournaments.

No idea how to fight Rashid yet lol.
Pretty much everything he does can be punished with c.LP into Psycho Blast. Then go to town on him.

Also, CountBlackule posted a gif showing that EX Psycho Inferno destroys Rashid's V-Trigger. ;-D

I am uploading 1 hour of a set with MasterMilk on here for you to critique.

You're saying -2 on block like it's a good thing. Also, Bison has above average frame advantage on his normals to help make up for the fact that he can't walk-pressure like most characters.

I just jumped in and started a Battle Lounge

didn't realize I had Cammy selected as my fave character

I actually did very well! Err, at first. I'd forgotten everything but still managed to go toe-to-toe with a really good Chun. For the first 2 out of 3. The next two sets didn't go so well. But damn, for not having touched Cammy seriously in a long time I'm proud of how I handled myself.

-2 on block is actually pretty safe. Most jabs are 3 frames. Only a handful of reversals can really punish -2, and you're going to have to call it correctly.
This thread is the only place I've seen that doesn't realize what's going on with Bison, which is pretty interesting.

Man rashid is kinda weird to play against. As Sim it feels like b+MP is my best anti air against him.

Luckily tornado I can P teleport on the other side and negate it.

Really fun figuring out these match ups.

This game is crack.

Does anyone have any pointers as Karin vs Vega? I'm stuck in the 1200-1400 LP range, because I happen to always fight a vega before getting Ultra Bronze, and always get stomped. Seems like everything he has out ranges me, and I have no clue what to do about his wall jump attack/grab move.

It's very safe, no doubt. But I don't think it's anything special in this game, either.

What IS noteworthy is Bison having two crushes that are + on block. I'm not sure if anyone else has that going on.

Huh, so I actually got paired against the same person twice. How odd. Was nice though, they won the first game due to their excessive grabbing as Mika and me being horrible to just counter it. Yet the second game I knew how to punish them and easily won both rounds. (The first one went 1 - 2.)

Played some matches and no disconnects thankfully. Its sad that I was anticipating it the whole time. Some type of punishment for dcers cant come soon enough.

As someone coming from MKX(Im pretty good at it) how can I get better at this game. Its a whole different beast in terms of trying to counter opponents and knowing how to open people up.

Doesnt help that inputs feel really finicky compared to Mortak Kombat. Im using Nash, any tips would be appreciated.

Anyone? This game seems a lot more frame intensive. In MK i was able to pick things up fairly quickly without diving into all that frame crap, but here it seems like even "poking" gets me punished and finding the openings on others pokes is hit or miss.

I think Chun, Ryu, and Dhalsim are very very strong right now. Karin, Nash, Cammy, and Mika seem pretty balanced thus far. I don't know what to think about Necalli, FANG, or Rashid yet, because I haven't seen enough of them. Laura needs a little help, and so does Birdie. Zangief is Zangief: it's either a blowout in his favor or he gets slaughtered, depending on the player. People are definitely sleeping on Vega and Bison.

No one is sleeping on Vega ir Bison, and a Necalli player has been dominating the east coast. Snake eyes and Justin think Gief is the worst character.

Any tips for the Chun-Li vs. Ryu matchup? (playing as Ryu) I feel Chun-Li is incredibly powerful.

She has more range and is pretty good at keeping me out, as well as having some fireball hate (vskill, cr.MP). Her st.lk antiairs me and she dashes with chance of crossup or grab.

My cr.MK is shorter than her cr.HK, too risky to eat a crush counter.

Any tips of pokes to use against her or how to approach this fight?

I'm watching Floe's stream and he's getting matches every few seconds and load times are optimal. I want that! Is that a PC version exclusive?

I cant even finish one fight on survival with fight req on without getting a match on ranked, and those fights take less than 10 seconds.

Nah, I'm on ps4 and getting matches every 10 seconds, and the black screen before and after the match is much shorter than yesterday.

Any tips on how Laura can defeat a good turtle M Bison?

I've tried cross ups, various pokes and footsies, but his counter hits and combos are just too damaging; plus he blocks attacks very well.

I can only damage him using command grabs and tick throws, but would like to find something more effective.

Battle Lounge is actually working for some of you guys? How the fuck? It disconnects me after somebody accepts my invite (just about every time), it also randomly disconnects me right after I create the lounge.

Just done my first "rage quit". Got a 5 bar match that acted like it didn't even know what a bar was with a Ryu teleporting everywhere. Fuck no am I playing with that sort of lag.

Went out of town for 2 days, left ranked 24,000th or so, came back ranked 120,000 WTF?

An hour of play later I've climbed back up to the 40,000's...
Apparently the scrubs have invaded the game...

I had a 5 win streak going for a while there...and managed to win several rounds with PERFECTs... I never get PERFECTs vs real people... :P

Oh, so they might have fixed the loading issues? Hopefully that's the case. I would try myself right now but I have someone over and I don't think she'd want me playing SFV right now lol. Tomorrow will have to do after the scheduled maintenance.

Been playing with Necalli since the beta and it's been going really well for me. I'm bad at fighting games and I've barely lost to anyone, but it is nice to have a training partner of particularly high level, at least in comparison to me. C:

Game is starting to aggravate me.

I don't know if it's because I'm older (slower reaction time), using a controller (slow fingers) or lag, but 20% of the time when I block, it doesn't block.

With a controller, I pull off about 60-70% of what I want to do. Errors result in me getting combo'd or losing the match.

With a joystick, I can pull off about 90% of what I want to do. Unfortunately I'm waiting for my parts to come in before I start using my ps4 joystick vs ps3 joystick.
keep calm, maybe just panicking under pressure.

Chun's b.HP is +2 on block, her other CC move is -2 on block but it's her furthest reaching normal. Nothing as bs as Bison's st.HP though.

Just beat a Rashid with a 14 wins streak. Disconnected.

I'm an adult, I won't send him insults via pm. But fuck this kind of shit.

That sucks... I had my first legit rage quit happen too... A long win streak Rashid as it turns out... Wonder if we met the same guy...

I just bought this after renting it for a day and loving every second of it. I really don't give a damn about single player content for a fighting game considering fighting the CPU has always been awful. I'm itching to play more of it right now, ugh.

I wait 10 minutes for a ranked match and it disconnects every time I'm about to fight one. Every single time.

This game is a piece of shit. Had it since launch and I have yet to play anyone in Ranked match because it won't let me.
I think that's just you. I would check your router settings, etc.

Well you're definitely going to be going for high/low mixups much like MK but you actually have to worry (more) about crossups in this game.

If you're more specific I can probably give better answers, but we're all learning here since the game is new.

Not really sure how but I'm on a 7 game winning streak with Mika. The last one was stupidly close

I cut rage quitters some slack, which is something I never thought I'd say until now. The online is pretty screwy right now and it seems like if it desyncs your opponent may be playing a different game than you are.

Oh, so they might have fixed the loading issues?
Not yet. Still long on my end. Hopefully they fix it during the maintenance tomorrow.

I'm convinced some accounts are just cursed. I have a friend whose lobbies are either unjoinable or explode at random. If I create we can usually play ok, though it my take a few invites before he can join, and when he does he gets to experience the eternal load times I've been struggling with since Thursday. Dude knows his shit, he's got everything configured correctly, the game's online is just bugging out.

I suppose it would help If I new what a crossup was. haha like I said I just picked up MKX by playing it. Didnt have anywhere near this level of trouble when starting out though. Never got into understanding lingo or frame data.

It doesnt help that this is the first Street Fighter ive played in years. Guess ill have to watch some gameplay of nash and see if I can figure out how to get some strings going.
