Street Fighter V |OT| No Options to Select

Bison has above average frame advantage on his normals to help make up for the fact that he can't walk-pressure like most characters.

Bison is a little overrated IMO. No overhead and no options on wakeup other than v-reversal (which he absolutely needs to save for his trigger). His pressure is pretty good but his BNB stuff has a lot less damage then Karin, Ryu, Necalli etc. EX versions of moves are only ok and get stuffed ALL the time. You can beat ex scissors with crouch jab, what? Only ok anti-air.

He doesn't have to save for V-Trigger. His V-Reversal is excellent and probably should be used.

Any Karins in here that can help me with this matchup?
Does anyone have any pointers as Karin vs Vega? I'm stuck in the 1200-1400 LP range, because I happen to always fight a vega before getting Ultra Bronze, and always get stomped. Seems like everything he has out ranges me, and I have no clue what to do about his wall jump attack/grab move.

I don't get how to defend in the corner on wakeuo. Seems like fast characters like Cammy can hit me before I can even start a block on eakeup. Is there something special I'm missing? I keep getting pinned in the corner.

Not really sure how but I'm on a 7 game winning streak with Mika. The last one was stupidly close

Nice I love ending a match with the combo you just did, feels so satisfying.

I suppose it would help If I new what a crossup was. haha like I said I just picked up MKX by playing it. Didnt have anywhere near this level of trouble when starting out though. Never got into understanding lingo or frame data.

It doesnt help that this is the first Street Fighter ive played in years. Guess ill have to watch some gameplay of nash and see if I can figure out how to get some strings going.
A cross-up is an attack that hits "behind" you from a jump. You have to block it by holding "toward" your opponent as they cross over you. Not something that happens in MK, with its block button.

Basic fighting game lingo will certainly help. Frame data you can take or leave in my opinion. So if you don't want to concern yourself with it, then don't. It can help you though.

A crossup is a jumping attack that you have to block from the other side.

Cross up is when someone jump over you but his attack still hit you:

It's tricky because he switches sides thus switching the direction you have to hold to block it, in the picture, Ken should should have blocked by holding left. It's not an issue in MK since blocking isn't tied to directions.

You mean left? If Ken was holding right to block he would just be blocking regularly

As Karin I can't seem to beat Ryu or Ken, they always kick my ass.

Any tips?

Also, I have this irrational hatred (well more like dislike) for those that use Ryu or Ken. Though this also extends really to any of the "main" character fighters in games. Some reason I always just imagine them sitting behind their screen with the smuggest face.

Just got to Ultra Bronze! Finally! I should probably stop playing for the night, because this is when things start going downhill.

I see yea. Ive seen those a few times. Not too difficult to deal with. My main problem is the inside game. Poking it out and being able to chain normals into specials..I main Liu Kang in MKX so im not very accustomed to having to give my opponent room once get going.

Is there anything in particular in the matchup that you're having trouble with? I feel like battling shoto's is a battle of fundamentals.

I guess compared to others they always seem to be moving at like near double the speed of me. I've noticed this since I've literally been only fighting Ryu's and Ken's online for the past hour. Constantly getting countered over and over...

Any tips for the Chun-Li vs. Ryu matchup? (playing as Ryu) I feel Chun-Li is incredibly powerful.

She has more range and is pretty good at keeping me out, as well as having some fireball hate (vskill, cr.MP). Her st.lk antiairs me and she dashes with chance of crossup or grab.

My cr.MK is shorter than her cr.HK, too risky to eat a crush counter.

Any tips of pokes to use against her or how to approach this fight?

Anyone to offer help with this matchup please? I've met this same Chun about 3 times and didn't manage to take a single round on her.

I actually got two Ranked Matches!

Now its...been another 10 minutes! =(

Is it PC that's having issues maybe? Is PS4 any better. =(

Anytime I see a fellow Ryu bro's call out for help, I want to be there and be like "here is what I know, hope it helps". But man, this is one of those match ups that has left me confused. I liked it at first before people discovered just how good Chun was.

Best advice I can tell you right now is to try and play a keep away game. I don't know if that's really the best method but it's the one I'm using right now. She destroys Ryu upclose so I feel his best chance is to play a fireball zoning game with good anti air. Don't be afraid to approach her and poke back, try to get in and out though as staying in that up close zone doesn't seem to be in Ryu's favor. St. MK is your best weapon as she approaches. Mix in cr. MK and st. LK as well as they're all useful tools to try and keep her out and gain some damage. You have to be patient and limit mistakes or she will make you pay for it.

Or wait until Daigo and Bonchan get god like at this game and we can all gather around a camp fire watching their matches against good Chun's and break down their strategy if they're doing good.

I'm on PS4 and I get ranked matches every 40 seconds or so. Been like that for the past 2-3 days.

Yeah same here, it seems to find them the best while in training but sometimes I just have the fight request feature on in the main menu and I do other stuff while I wait.

Hm, hard to say. Make sure you are antr-airing properly. Your best bet for that is cr.HP and nuetral jump MP. If they fire ball you from mid screen, you can usually punish on reaction with qcb HP.

If you need more specific advice, you could post a video of one of your matches; there are a ton of great players here who would tell you what you're doing wrong.

Chun's b.HP is +2 on block, her other CC move is -2 on block but it's her furthest reaching normal. Nothing as bs as Bison's st.HP though.
Chun has a safe, far-reaching c.HK. -_-

I tend to agree with you.

Bison can do 80% of someone's health with two hits during V-Trigger at full meter. It's worth saving for.

Nah, it's just the system. I was getting matches in <30 seconds earlier, then it kinda just stopped. I went through a full 30-match normal survival run without getting a single invite. Then I sat in the menu for several minutes before getting one. Now I'm getting a match about every minute which is okay.

As an aside, it feels like virtually nobody is actually playing any of the single-player stuff. Almost everyone I see is under account level 20, except one guy who was 50 and one guy I just played who was 130-something. Just seems kinda odd since the 'story' is so short and boosts you to 130- or 140-something just by itself.

As a chun player my advice would be to just always block low and punish her jumps as her overhead is awful and unreliable. She also doesn't have many great reversal options so pressure her after knockdowns, but watch out for EX sbk.

You cant use the FM yet so theres no rush to do them. Thats my logic for only having done 3 so far

Battle Lounges will work?
Loading times will be reduced so I won't be able to read <insert 10 book long fantasy series> over the next week while I wait for SFV to load?
Battle Lounges will be region restricted like in SSFIV?
Rage Quitters get punished and we get the win?

How do you stop non stop cross up jump ins as Necali? I feel like I have to just stay their and block non stop or neutral jump something. Does he have a anti air button? I can't believe the stuff I lose to in this game. A 5 year old pressing buttons can kill me in this game.

I've been getting matches regularly for several days now on ps4, no real server problems to speak of. I think it's a region issue. East coast usa's where I am.
