This has become evident to me as I keep losing with her as a player. She is also super slow with her punches and kicks. Especially the crouching kicks.
Her crouching punches are cr.LP = 3 frames, cr.MP = 5 frames and cr.HP = 7 frames, pretty sure those are the fastest crouching punches in the game! That and her st.MK is the best st.MK in the game while cr.MK might just be the best cancel-able cr.MK, maybe only second Chun's. :/

I am actually quite happy with all the backlash the game has received, if it sold a ton and be a great success other companies would follow. Personally I'm waiting for T7 to come to consoles but i fear Namco might take a lesson and just get more content in the game before release which most likely will postpone it.
Still love that core gameplay of SF5. Just to clarify that.

I sometimes imagine if Gief had a 3f jab and shudder

I really hope we hear something about upcoming plans soon. I know they cant say anything until details are firm, but it would go a long way. I just wonder how much the backlash for an arcade mode has them scrambling and if it threw any March update plans out of whack.

Sadly no. You'll only see and be able to use that DLC and content when you're on your JPN user account.

When you launch your NA copy of SFV on your JPN user account you'll have to choose a new fighter ID because of it being a new user account so of course all the content gets locked to that ID. Again, there's nothing stopping you from using that account to play online with other players in the US or your friends. The only downside will come in the future when you want to purchase new outfits and characters in the store, although the Volcanic edition does give you 1000 Zenny to use.

Does that make sense?

Yep, that clears things up! Thanks a lot! :)

Since I got the SFV CE, I'll set up a JPN account soon. It probably won't be too much going through JPN PSN for stuff later on.

They are a bit, but as someone who was kinda disappointed at the easier execution of SF V, Karin is absolutely the perfect character for me.

The fact that I can miss combos with her makes me so happy.

I'm much more of a fundamentals players, when watching daigo's stream I noticed sako and I have nearly the same playstyle, he also pretty much only uses juggles that are easy to hit, burning meter while he's at it, but he's just mostly poking away and using frametraps.

Same here. I'm all about the D-Pad. Maybe someday I'll get a fight stick, but I do well with a regular controller. I still miss the 360 D-Pad. Most people hated it, but after breaking it in it was great for fighting games. That rocking motion.

Yeah, if you look at the neogaf CFN spreadsheet you'll see that I'm pretty much the only one on there playing with a 360pad :'P.

I don't think that's been an issue with the Tekken series

I realized I was a bit wrong about the cr. punches. However I feel like the kicks could be a lot better as I never win with the fastest kicks unless the opponent slips or doesnt take advantage of the situation. Then again I am probably a bad Karin player.

For those using Joy2Key and the TES+, does it show stick2 as always up?

fHijyyd.png

it is disabled but still annoying, was wondering if this was a widespread issue or just me.

Does anyone have a really safe easy combo to Karin CA? I feel like I end up with way too much meter all the time. My orochi execution is not there yet for me to consistently blow meter on that and EX DP is situational and cheesy.

Karin's EXes are great. No shame is blowing them in leiu of CA. Anyway my friend always does v-trigger rekka into CA.

Yeah you are right but its been over 3,5 years now since the last tekken on consoles, there was a stage was begging for a straight up arcade port with no content. It would probably not turn out well for the mass appeal.

c.MP, c.MK, Tenko, Super. You can also replace tenko for QCB LK to make it even easier.

There is no better way to combo into her CA than to Tenko and EX Rekka cross up into her CA. Truly the most patrician of Karin combos.
Probably any time you see a player hitting c.MK into Tenko they're doing that. :P

Try it in training mode, it's much easier than it sounds. Just c.MK xx QCF as if you were doing c.MK Hadouken with Ryu, but don't press a button, just the QCF, and if it hits, ou hit K~P like a SF IV plink. The timing is a lot more lenient than it looks like. Even for regular combos, I treat QCF K~P as if it was one single input, and link it to her normals instead of canceling a normal into QCFK and try to hit P instantly. I find it much harder to do it the "right" way.
I'll try it.
Hit Tenko in the corner, and chain two crounching jabs, the second jab will reset the opponent, then dash. If you wait a bit before hitting the jabs, you'll end up on the same side. If you do them as soon as possible, you'll cross under. If you cross under and instantly hit st. LK, it hits meaty, and you can link it into c.MP for an easy high damage hit confirm.
Sounds sexy as fuck and it looks sexy in the video that was linked earlier too.
She would feel kinda like Abel though, so I like the sound of it. It seems like Karin is already the character that pleases Abel players the most, in general.
Abel was my favorite new guy in SF4, but I just couldn't stand playing the game so I never really progressed with him. I hope he gets another shot in SFV. He seems more likely than Fuerte, Rufus, Seth and Hakan at least.
But do you mean the actual v-trigger activation? Or just the rekkas on block? If it's the rekkas, then yeah, either use them to waste their meter, or don't do them on block :P
Her rekkas on block. I'm going to try experimenting more with her V-Trigger backdash off qcf.P. Maybe there are ways to fake people out and catch them with a Tenko. The sky is the limit once you get them in the air.
Oh, I don't mean to go to jab war against Nash, just to use it as an anti air. You'll definitely lose a jab war :P

But yeah, I really feel like Karin is a footsie heavy character, and a really good one.
She certainly is if your game is pristine. With her health and toolset she can't afford to make too many mistakes in this particular SF.
If you're on PC you can avoid disconnections by restricting it from PS4 players, it's more frequent from PS4 players because disconnecting is more accessible. There's a 'disconnect' button at the middle of the controller, haha.

My last experience on the game, was a Ken player on an 8 win streak who disconnected as he was taken for a ride in Rashid's super.
I actually haven't paid much attention to the platforms of the ragequitters. Seems like something I should be paying attention to in hindsight.
1-Wouldn't call them week, her AA normals are average but she have a fast invincible AA, a luxury not many characters in the game have, even if it's behind ex meter. That and she have a great command dash to avoid deep jump ins
Let's not pretend that EX Ressen Ha is suddenly all that good. Her AA options are definitely limited.
2- cr.HP is one of the easiest CC to follow up in the game and st.HK is easy to combo after if used as a frame trap, at poke range you need resources to combo after which is inline with most long range CCs
I gotta get better at following up her cr.HP CC. Whenever I hit it I panic and start looking like the numa numa guy in real life.
3-What's wrong with it? It's really hard to grab her out of even after baiting it with jabs, unpunishable on block and causes knockdown on hit. The good Karin players I've run into seem to prefer it over here V-Trigger. Of the characters I've played against a lot, Karin's seems to be the best V-Reversal in the game!
Sounds just a bit too good to be true since there are apparently V-reversals in this game that cross up.
4-She have the tools to blow up jabs and they lead to rid
iculous damage, if people are mashing jabs against you, you didn't teach them not to, see 5 for crouching[/QUOTE]
We'll see how good those tools are in the coming weeks. I hope you're right because mashy players see more annoying in this game than ever.
5-Absolutely does not need a command grab, has a v-reversal that lead to a knockdown, two over-heads one of them is confirm-able into a knockdown and frame traps that are backed by some of the best damage in the game
She technically has one currently, but it just kinda sucks iirc.
6-V-Revesals do blow up her V-Trigger but her VT mixups are just early days shenanigans that can be blocked on reaction or OSed which would put you in a much worse place than getting v-reversaled. Her VT is more of a combo/pressur tool, trying to mix people up with it wont get you far
Yeah, I think her V-trigger is still evolving. It wouldn't surprise me if people are coming up with nasty ways to use her V-trigger cancel/backdash for reset purposes.
I really hope we hear something about upcoming plans soon. I know they cant say anything until details are firm, but it would go a long way. I just wonder how much the backlash for an arcade mode has them scrambling and if it threw any March update plans out of whack.
I'm pretty curious about all of that as well.

That shit fucking sucks. A Sim did it to me too. I wouldn't take pleasure in someone's rage after something like that. Capcom better hit these ragequitters hard, fast and hopefully retroactively if possible.

Her cr.LK is slower than her jab so if you want to press a button before the opponent go for cr.LP, but the other two crouching kicks are on the faster side for the range they should be used from.

bahahhaahah flash bitching about rage quitting thats rich

Why do rage quitting losers play this game? What is the point of building ranking points to a level where you're only going to get matched against people who will kick your ass? What's the point of making yourself look good at a game when you're going to be exposed the second you actually fight anyone?

Just had my first. Thought he was suspiciously mediocre for someone with a 9 win streak, and then, surprise surprise, he quits when I beat him.

Technically they've said the next update is coming in March, so if they wanted to release it on March 31st...they're still holding true to their word. I'm hoping they release the update mid-March. Looking forward to Trials!

Yeah, if anything, now I'm expecting a later March release.

They play this game because it is Street Fighter and that is about as deep a fighter as the mainstream will get into. This level of rage quitting is frankly unheard of in other smaller fighters. The scrubbery on display is truly epic.
Store opens, maybe balance changes, and pre-3rd Strike Alex.
What no one asked for lol.
I wonder what super Alex will have...
We can safely say it won't be Stun Gun Headbutt unless Capcom pulls a Capcpom all of a sudden.

I was playing as Cammy in training mode against Birdie. I had him on the hardest difficulty and all the stat stuff was normal so it was like a real fight.

He was beating me down alot but I eventually started figuring out how to beat him. Very satisfying.... :)

I'm doing this because I'm sort've preparing for Normal Survival... even though I know its unfair.

I disagree about the V trigger being entirely useless. She deals good damage but she should have some more safe moves other than medium Kick. Its sad that one of her specials is best served with a combo than on its own.

Most of her specials are unfortunately good mostly for tricking the opponent but not safe at all once a person is accustomed to her move set. It is very limited what you can do other than punishing another player for slipping. I think this is why the aggressive approach of her is not very good when a player is playing defensive. She is also awfully slow against Cammy and has difficulties with actually reacting to good Ryu and Ken players. Karin does better against characters that are slower than her.

I used to win more due to mind games than actually being able to use effectively every move. V-trigger is the best opponent to punish a player with a super without break (if you get an opening).

I'm coming to this realization as well... As long as I don't get knocked down early, I win.

I don't understand Karin's wake up game... Actually, I feel she doesn't have a wake up game. When I get knocked down, I tend to stay down.

She doesn't have anything that seems high priority enough to stop anything when she recovers...

Spam LP? Nope.
EX Rasenha? If you can actually make it happen on recovery, more power to you.
Block? Nope you're getting thrown...

They're actually less ridiculous than they were in 4, Imo.

I enver felt like grabs were this annoying in 4, here someone will jump in just to fucking grab you

even if you try to jab he will grab you

then when you try to grab them, your character will fucking whiff it for no reason, when you try to tech, you will get grabbed anyways, no tech for you

Every single laura i've seen was ridiculous, jump in/cross up into grab and it worked every single time even when I knew it and tried to tech :I

And then when I finally grab someone it gets rolled back then I get my face KOed lol. Fucking game

I think Ryu is hard to play against top competition. I am a Ryu player and everytime I get a very good player, no matter the character, I really really struggle and lose most of the time
Nash is one of those character whose actions can be telegraphed like mad but I still can't stop, like moon assault adv on block and super fast overhead.

Will read up on this guy as I don't even know how to approach him.
