Street Fighter V |OT2| Another Fight Isn't Coming Your Way!

Speaking of sticks vs controllers, anyone else have an issue hitting the diagonal down on fireballs, etc? When I try to do a fast QCF, it's really hit or miss, and quite often the game doesn't register my diagonal down input, which obviously fails my move. I feel like a stick would definitely be better in this regard, or even a controller tailored to fighting games. It happens with both my PS4 controllers, so I'm guessing it's a more common problem not affecting just me? Maybe I'm wrong.
Are you using the d-pad? I find it soooo much easier to pull off the different motions on the analog stick. There isn't any feedback for when the analog stick is in the right place unlike the d-pad or arcade stick but if you spend enough time with it you'll know when you're doing it.

I started out using the analog when I got the game, but I found I was jumping when I was just trying to move, etc, so that was a big problem for me. So I switched to the dpad to get more precise movement controls, but at the expense of issues hitting certain input zones.

Edit - it would certainly be easier on my left thumb to use analog. Getting pretty sore from pressing on that dpad.

Just noticed the title change:

LMAO!
When did that happen? hahaha.

During the clusterfuck of the server maintenance on Monday, as 3 hours became 5 hours became indefinite.

Rashid's headwrap going through his shoulder is a real head scratcher

Yeah I'm mostly understanding with clipping, but allowing that to happen in a looping animation that players will be staring at for ~10 seconds at a time? It's unbelievable.

Rashid - headwrap goes through shoulder while his beard pokes through it
Birdie - his chain and his necklace constantly pass through each other, and actually hold in a clipping state
Laura - her hair is going into her body
Ken - one of his banana hairs is going into his shoulder

Note that most of these only happen on the 2P side.

Hmmm. If you can stomach it, I would go into practice mode and just hammer out those inputs on the analog stick because it's so much easier on your thumb and much more reliable once you get used to it - at least imo. :P

I was initially flubbing inputs a lot with the analog stick and jumping when trying to hadoukens etc but you really to get used to it to the point where I can pull off x number of flub free hadoukens in a row.

I might. I am basically not able to use charge move characters either because of the dpad. Doesn't hurt to give it another try.

I was in the same situation as you at first but it has gotten a lot better now. Just stick with the dpad, your thumb will get used to it in no time.

I had trouble doing quick QCBs on the DS4. Turned out I was just missing the input — had a hunch because QCFs were fine and I could comfortably do them in rapid succession on my stick. If you use training mode and enable input data, you should be able to figure out where the missing diagonal is and retrain your thumb to hit it. If that's not doable, try a stick or fightpad.

Yeah training mode is how I became aware that the diagonal was the one missing. It would read as just down-forward-punch. I have to make a concentrated effort to hit that diagonal input, which is hard when you're trying to pull off the move quickly.

I'm so bad at this game

Misinputs everywhere
Awful footies
Not confirming hits
Not punishing when I should

Pls help

Easy game to learn, hard game to master, right? To get really good, you'll probably have to read lots of guides and practice a ton. You can set the CPU dummy to do lots of different moves so you can practice countering them, but once you know the basics, the best way to improve is keep playing.

Are you using the tip of your thumb on the dpad?

Try using the joint/pad of your thumb and rocking it around the pad for different directions. I have never felt a single bit of discomfort playing on pad except for 3rd Strike on Dreamcast because that controller was an abomination. I don't play charge characters much but pad can be a little fatiguing in that situation.

Take the long term mindset. Don't worry about losses. And practice.

Specifics?

Upload your matches to YouTube and let us critique them.

Keep playing with better opponents.

Practice specific elements--anti airs, spacing, combos in casual mode.

so..if i go to the list of my favorite players, view a profile, and pull up their list of ranked matches. there's no way to watch any of those replays from there? lol
the only option is "add replay to list"
and then i can back out to the main menu and go to "favorite replays" to watch it?
thats fucking...insane

come on, capcom

Yep, tip of my thumb, that's why I'm sore up around my nail- the skin below it is getting raw. I'll have to explore some alternate ways to do directional inputs I guess. Not really willing to shell out for a fight stick atm.

Redownloaded USF4 for kicks.

Tried ranked matches.

I literally get them every 5 seconds. Less than five seconds.

So. Yeah. Fuck off Capcom with your bullshit.

Did some more survival yesterday, cleared Easy with all the characters.

Did a couple of Ranked as well, on 11 matches I won 8, so I'm pretty satisfied with my performance...those were all rookies though, I guess I'll have my ass kicked soon enough.

Now sitting on 255K FM...bring on some DLC characters! :D

I love the lobby system that 4 has. Yes much quicker, great for salty runbacks too.

I feel like I'm learning something new with rashid every day... this characters has such a huge amount of amazing techniques. Like, I JUST found out if you land air eagle spike on someones toes that it puts you right beside them and is safe on block.

I've been putting work into incorporating EX whirlwind pressure and mixups into my game. This guy has some flexibility, there's no doubt. And people were worried the game would be too 'simple'.

Waiting 5 minutes for a ranked game to be rage quitted upon , casual is so much serious right now meeting gold and silver players all the time. They need to sort this mess out.

Funny because my memory of SF4 when it was first released was

"Connecting..."

"Could not join."

"Connecting"

"Could not join."

"Connecting"

"Game is full."

"Connecting"

"Connection timed out."

"Connecting"

...

So I know my connection isn't anything great at 15/1 with 30 ms ping...but I don't understand all the rollback the last few days. Didn't have it at all in the betas, and the first week of playing this was fine. Now it's a lag fest constantly.

Beat survival on normal and also got to bronze last night with Nash. Lost 6 ranked in a row, almost threw my pc at one point lol.

Finally getting the hang of this.

It's the dumbest thing ever but I have applied a lesson I learned from a book about golf. To get your mind off of anger, worry or whatever and into a better mood to enjoy the game, before the round starts I rotate the stick and say "stick" outloud, tap the buttons and say "button button button button".

Obviously have to do it under your breath if other people are around but the point is you put your mind in the right state to play a game and forget about losing or whatever could potentially bother you.

Is there spreadsheet or timetable for some upcoming tourny's - I feel like watching some pros while I train in the lab..

Last night I kept getting an error after the VS screen. I don't know what was happening, but you'd get the matchup, see your characters pose as the camera zooms into the planet and the screen turns white .... ERROR 21006

At one point it happened two matches in a row. That was a frustrating 5-10 minutes.

The wait for PC USF4 matches in my region was maybe 15mins each.

I'll take SFV anytime.

sLP, cHP, sHP, EX Ressenha

They're all situational and will trade a lot though. Most of the time you're better off dashing under.
Air-to-airs, not anti-airs lol! I'm usually going for jump back medium punch and jump forward medium kick, but lots of characters beat it clean.

Clipping I have already gotten over, the shadow dithering though? That shit is ruining it for me.

Fingers crossed there's a fix coming.

Some of the clipping I'm over... Ken's hair coming through his shoulder on the VS screen pose though???

INEXCUSABLE.

As the devs, had I seen that shit, that day I would have changed Ken's pose on the VS screen so that wasn't an issue. Right now it just looks so sloppy on their part.

Like giving Karin a command throw at the end of Rassenha that is FUCKING USELESS.

Thank devs... Thanks a lot...

Long shot, but try signing out and back in:

So I've noticed the following network behavior on my end:

1) At first, player stats (league, LP, win streak, player/character level, etc.) are showing up correctly.
2) Then I eventually run into a ragequitter.
3) After this, those stats no longer show up correctly.
4) If I close and restart the game, they start showing up like normal again.

Anyone else notice the same?

Also, I'm not sure if it's just coincidence, but I seem to get better quality connections when all this shit is working.

There's nothing quite like comparing an 8 year old game that was iterated on and re-released 3 times to something that's been out just over a week.

I need some Mika tips. My wakeup game is awful. If I'm in the corner and I get crossed up or something i just don't know what to do. Mika's wakeup game feels so limited. Point-blank jump ins are hard to punish on reaction when they time it well, you can only c.mp and that will whiff on cross-ups.

Okay, so more people today are dropping on me than those who aren't. This is ridiculous. I hope Capcom are implementing a ballsy system for dealing with this problem for once, because as it stands it is really souring the game.

9 games won, 5 disconnections.

If you know they are going to hit buttons you can use a meter for ex QCF punch, ex air command grab if they are jumping, or do a V reversal if they start a frame trap block string.
