Fuck survival. Made it to 46 on hard then got bodied. I'm never gonna get these fucking colours.

On top of it all I got deranked in ranked again.

I'm too salty for this shit.

I lost to 50 man...50. Fucking 50. Why do I do this to myself. I made it to 49 twice this week too.

If you're new, definitely drop Chun. Try Birdie, he's the opposite extreme, but still has great buttons.

Yeah. I'm dropping her for now. Going to give Ryu a go next. I played Ken back on SNES so I have the basics down and have a lot of stuff in gooteck's books and videos to work on with him.

Birdie didn't click with me the but I've played him. Rally between Chun Li, Ryu and Cammy for my main at the moment.

So I found my new main today until Guile drops, Rashido!
He's tons of fun and I almost managed to get Ultra Bronze (1500LP), but getting matched against FANG, Necalli and a bronze flowchart Ken made me drop to 1200 something.

Fought a good Nash in Battle Lounge and those matches made it clear to me I need to learn some combos to punish stuff.
Need to watch some videos of high level Rashids and learn some easy combos tomorrow/later today, but now it's time for bed, the sun is almost up.

There's nothing to be done about these rage quitters huh? I just been writing their names down.

This is the best they can do until they release a real solution

Disconnecting Players (aka Rage Quitters)

Yes, we are well aware of the problem of players disconnecting before the match ends to retain their League Points and their win streaks. Thanks to all of the players who have brought this to our attention.

We are working on a permanent solution to this problem, though we don’t have an exact date to share with you at the moment. That said, we are going to take direct action starting next week to punish those players who are abusing the system.

This punishment will be severe for the worst offenders, but we will need the community’s help with this. We will follow up with more details next week, but over the weekend, please record every instance of rage quitting you encounter. The best way to do this is to use the SHARE function on the PlayStation 4 after the match has concluded, though any video evidence will suffice (Twitch archives, local recordings etc.).

Is anybody else running into issues with private battle lounges right now? I'm trying to connect with someone and it hasn't worked at all. When I try to make a lounge and invite him, he can't get in and it soon after disconnects me from my own lounge, and likewise when he tries to host. Wut?

I don't mind taking L's online, especially if it's because I made stupid mistakes or was simply outplayed. But man, does it get on my nerves when it's because of a busted ass connection.

I don't know you personally, random Ryu player #1991895, but fix your internet fam

GGs Flux. You trolled me in the last match.

GGs! You mean the 3rd match we were about to have? Ha, sorry about that; someone literally decided to play with our router settings, so I got booted out of the network and just got back. It was gonna be my last set, though.

Got some MU experience against two of the characters that annoy me the most, so that was good. FANG is freaking nuts to get in with as Mika.

So there's no way to gain points around my rank

at all

The only matches that aren't being ragequit are the ones I lose.

that's 3/4 matches ragequit and the 4th was me losing.

More like when you killed me with mostly jabs.

Mika's a nightmare when you don't know how to respond to that dropkick.

It's absolutely hilarious of Capcom to ask people to record videos or evidence of people rage quitting. The videos/screenshots could be even faked/edited out of salt/grief. It sounds borderline amateurish of Capcom, and even if they take any action based on this, it will be unfairly done because it won't catch anyone, not to mention the amount of manual work it would take.

I could bet they are not going to do shit with this "data", it's only a way to see if this intimidates rage quitters somehow, for now.

Love you Capcom, but this is fucking pathetic.

I took it more like "What can we do to placate them for a bit while we actually work on this?"

Let's be honest. Outside of strictly the fighting mechanics, SF5 has been pathetic.

I love playing it, but man it's depressing.

Yeah, that's true. You could just take a match and easily edit the disconnect into it unless it's actually caught on a livestream.

Though in all honesty it's ridiculous that from the start you could RQ with no penalty at all...this is hardly Capcom's first rodeo. Every aspect of this game outside of the pure fighting is legitimate garbage.

I'm at a loss. I was playing this real piece of work wioth the CFN Minister of Defens. This fuck turtles nearly every round, living up to his name. What got me was 99% of my throws, he teched. In all the years I've played SF, I have never come across someone who could do that that often. I tried all the gimmicks to hide when they were coming too. I don't get it. Also fuck that guy real good.

Ah, I don't think I specifically recall that, though it certainly wasn't my intention.

I think it's pretty much a 50/50 situation once the opponent gets hit by the charged HK, so I think the best answer is to avoid it completely and not block it.

Just looked into this. So that's why I wasn't encountering rage quitters much anymore... I see.

Their solution for this better not be manually implemented across the board; that'd be ridiculous.

Yes, there isn't much you can do if you let her hit the dropkick luckily the startup is long and obvious so you can just bat it away.

Ona related note, her sweep is just the goddam worst. Ugh. The lack of range in neutral is killing me.

Okay bit on this, despite the negative press. Went into Casual and fought 2 matches, and came out 1-1...actually far better than expected. It does take a damn long while to find a match, which is too bad. But...I like it, and will play more. I was pretty okay-ish at SF2 back in the day, so I have the fundamentals at least. My CFN is MetalJackal, if anyone wants to do some friendly skillbuilding sessions!

Well... I mean its not like he was cheating :/

I kind of agree. If anything this just sounds like the start of mass witch-hunt. While some RQs are obvious, not every disconnect is going to be one I imagine (I've never been disconnected mid-match yet so I don't know how bad it is for other peeps)
I'm still amazed they didn't have some kind of system in place from the get-go as they've already experimented with punishment sytems in previous titles.

The whole RQ thing reminds me a lot of my experience as an SF4 cammy: Beyond a certain point I couldn't get a match against anyone who didn't RQ and so my BP got utterly destroyed because it could only ever go down no matter how much I won.
While I found it frustrating I simply just stopped playing ranked as a solution, I don't really get the peeps who also resort to RQing themselves in response to it: they're just adding to the problem XD

Yup. I expect them to make an example of the most egregious rqers and call it a day, thinking they'd manually go through a mass of videos to enact justice is foolish.

It's also a PR deal with a tone I really don't like. They're trying to paint rqers as this small group of terrible people who do nothing but rq when in reality it's something a larger number of players will be tempted do occasionally for various reasons. That's why every single relevant competitive game deals with disconnects one way or another. Hell KI launched with the same lack of penalties and surprise surprise online instantly became a total shitshow.

This is entirely on Capcom, fuck them for demanding help from a community that is already putting up with absurd amounts of bullshit day after day.

Honestly guys the only solution I can see currently to the online play complaints is to stop playing ranked matches. I have had 0 problems playing casual. I know that half of the experience in fighting games is community cred' for allot of folks but we really have to stop stressing ourselves while waiting on capcpom to get their shit together.

This game plays really well but man.. there is still so much work to be done.

--The following is a mini-rant based on the current state of this game--
Okay, so SFV has been out for close to 2 weeks now and all the internet hatred for it has lead me to play it very little since launch.

Okay so it's not entirely just internet hatred ... there's something that feels off with SFV right now , I've been the first in line to defend it's content distribution model (and I still think it's a good idea) but the shape this game was tossed out the door with is kind of inexcusable. There are a few ways that things might have been different but in their haste to make sure the game was released prior to the official start of the pro tour they may have burned a lot of bridges that they were trying desperately to open. It's a real shame because between the betas and final release I really do like what I've played , the fighting itself is pretty solid and they've nailed the most important part by getting that right but I worry for the future of this game beyond the series faithful.

Obviously capcom is counting on sales throughout the year but we all read that they've projected 2 million sold by the end of march. There's simply no way that will happen. I'm honestly kind of flabbergasted , the simplest solution would be to give early local VS/training/online ranked/casual access to anyone that pre-orders and then delay the "official" finished product launch until maybe June or July ? Or , just sell the game for less from the get go. What's done is done now and the initial launch of this game is suffering the worst critical reception for a SF title since SF3 originally came out.

I can only hope that maybe next February we get the equivalent of a SFV Championship edition (capcom has said many times they won't re-title it in this fashion, buying it once will give you all future updates, etc).

For many the complaints of the game feeling unfinished refer to the lack of single player content - for me personally it goes a bit further than that. The character stories could easily have been expanded into a traditional arcade mode with difficulty settings but instead - they feel like a low budget afterthought because that's exactly what they are. Something thrown together a few months before launch because they were probably planning to just skip out on that entirely. Survival mode being such a grueling slog (too easy for 95% of the matches, too hard for the only ones that matter) was another last ditch effort to make the single player content feel more substantial than it really is. The biggest sign of how rushed out the door SFV is though - the lack of polish on most of the games stages. Everyone has already pointed out that only the first revealed stage (crowded night time street) has destructible barriers that can change things between rounds AS WELL as having humorous stage based enders like the bus or noodle bowl. This isn't so much an issue to me but what is an issue is the remainder of the backgrounds feel like phoned in half way finished concepts compared to that original level. Kings Cross Station feels like it should have more people in it , the new zealand level feels kind of cramped , kanzuki estate looks great but runs like ass (the 30fps backgrounds really show up poorly here) the russian underground cage feels like it's been cut short , Rio looks great but is also sparsely populated , new york/metro city has too many low quality assets (mostly alex) and feels smaller than it should and finally the shadowloo airforce base and 4 kings layer level feel more like cheap cutscene backdrops than actual full stages. India is actually the only other level in the game that feels somewhat finished but it also suffers from the 30 fps backgrounds. The load times in this game are hellish and just on the whole - the graphics feel like they lack a final coat of polish. The character models/designs are great , all animate beautifully but the textures seem a bit inconsistent at best.

All of my nitpicks aside , it seems like the biggest problem I keep hearing is that the one thing capcom really wants players to do - which is play online , is gimped and undercooked - no rage quitter penalty , too much time between matches, private lobbies limited to 2 players until the march update.

I know I'm being a little redundant here with the amount of vitriol others have spewed about this game but I really REALLY want SFV to be a big success for capcom so they support it for a while and possibly even make other fighting games this generation. They've made that very hard to do by mishandling this launch and I hope they and SFV can recover. Perhaps all the stuff being added in March will negate a good chunk of these issues , perhaps it will only fix a few of them ? All I know for sure is that I haven't felt like investing much time in this game despite months and months of hype because this just feels closer to a beta then the "real game".
