Stardew Valley |OT| Resting Under a Harvest Moon [Up: now on PS4]

I mean the bigger websites. I find it odd that this has such strong word of mouth...yet a lot of sites like IGN haven't even mentioned it. Shouldnt the publsher have sent out review copies?
I guess not since he's clearly doing well enough without it :p I really feel like sites like ign, etc will pick this up eventually anyways since it's really taking off.

I'm on the 8th of winter in my first year and I got to mine level 80 with a couple of lucky days. All my 128 crops that I'm going to plant in spring will be watered by sprinklers.

I'm short on coal :/

Spent all my money on the 24 slot bag and now I can't afford seeds for crops :/

Guess I just gotta fish and forage for awhile. Mining takes a fuckload of energy.

And those turnips weren't really worth anyway.

When you need to place a building when you build it is there something special to do to move it farther south? When trying to place it I could only move left to right on my farm for some reason.

placing furniture is weird, doesn't seemto work half the time

It works if you are standing right next to the place where you want to place it and none of it would end up on you, just like a real furniture. It gets time to adjust to that in a game, true.

Finally bought the game haven't even finished the first day and my harvest moon instincts have kicked in (a little too much I was confused as to why I didn't have a hammer to break the rocks until I realized I had a pickaxe)

I'm sure I'll end up enjoying this

I wish the game had some kind of ingame notepad inventory tab to scribble down random stuff. There's so much to do that a lot of times I go to bed and remember I forgot to do some task I've been meaning to.

I had a four hour train trip this morning at 4 am, for work. I was supposed to get some sleep on the train, with a full day of work ahead of me. It did NOT happen. I'm so fucking tired but winter went great so it's OK.

thanks for the snark. actually, it was that the a button (using a 360 controller) stops working half the time until you enter into the item menu and back out again.

it was just a joke, c'mon
also I use keyboard/mouse, what means I had no idea about a problem like this.

So I placed my silo in a really stupid place (didn't know it was so damn tall), is there a way to move farm buildings after they are built?

Not officially. There's supposedly a way to edit your save file to move buildings around (among other things).

The right stick can be used for the cursor outside of menus. I think what you are encountering is that the cursor is still in the background, hidden, and messes things up for you. At least that is a common issue when using the controller since patch 1.03.

GAH! I assumed seasons were 3 months long. First month of game was ending and I had just spent several thousand gold on seeds. First day of summer! Oops! All of my plants have died because they were "spring plants"! That was about 4000 gold down the drain, I think I'm going to just restart the game. Lesson learned though.

Amazing game though, I'm having tons of fun.

Keep going, you'll recover and soon realize that 4000 is not that much

Yeah I'm at 50k gold on the 20th in the first summer and I also spent a lot of money on seeds and stuff that got destroyed, really money isn't the problem you'll have in this game.

This. You can get those 4k back in no time.

Alright, I'll continue. It was just that I had like 150 gold left at start of summer, and I hadn't even built coop yet (I spent all money on experimentation and plants) so plants were my only income besides going into mines and digging random stuff. Slow start, but I'll survive! Thanks!

Well you will lose money if you just buy the coop wihout having a silo built before so that's not that big of a problem.

Spent a good chunk of the winter fishing to pump into quality fertilizer only to find out Pierre sells it at 20G apiece in Spring Year 2.

............................................................

All that fishing money.

Should I've built my coop near a pond so my ducks could swim or something, or is that not something they do in this game?

I wish i knew about the silo thing way way earlier... gah.

I didn't buy the coop yet but i'm pretty much all out of grass for the time being.

Love this game, but course correcting certain things can take a long time to pay off, and there's something just not very satisfying about having to do a bunch of research about what to do before you dive in.

Well, now I know that I'll just buy the quality fertilizer from Pierre. :)

...I'm sorry for your pain, but thank God I read this before it was too late.

I started playing this last night. This type of game is so stressful to me. I have moderate to severe gamer OCD and not having enough time and energy in a day to do everything I want to really frays my nerves. I accepted a quest from a lady that wants a potato in 2 days and there's no way I'm going to be able to get a potato in 2 days. Stress.

Are there any kinds of items early in the game that are safe to sell? I've been foraging a bunch of stuff (turnips/plants from around town and random shellfish from the beach) but I dunno if any of this stuff is going to be needed down the line. I planted the starter seeds they give you at the beginning but I'm totally broke now waiting for my 2nd batch of crops to sprout.

What's the more worthwhile fertilizer? Speed or quality?

Depends what you are doing with the crops. Quality is decent if you are just dropping them into the crops into the shipping container. If you are using the crops to craft some artisan goods (e.g. wine, jam, etc.) then the speed one is better since the artisan good is a multiple on the base quality item. So starfruit wine, for example, always sells for 2400g (3600g w/perk) regardless of what quality starfruit you put into the keg; therefore it is better to use speed so you can pump more starfruit out. If you are doing this outside of the greenhouse also make sure you have time to plant harvest another crop before the end of the season if you use speed, otherwise just stick with quality.

Needing help: Spoilers for mining rewards.
I made it to the last level and got a key. What is it used for? I figured it was for the sewers but it keeps saying "It's Locked."

Its used for a
endless dungeon in the desert. Which you can only access once you repair the bus station. This location is basically the desert on the upper left corner of your map

A different key is used for the sewers.

Dont want to make things worse for you, but technically everything you find in the game can be used for something (not just dumping it in the Shipping Box to sell).

From random requests at the Job Board, to recycling the trash you fish out of the water into something that isnt trash. Anything edible you find/grow? It can probably be used for cooking. Those seemingly useless fibers you get from using the scythe? Yeah, that can be used at some point for crafting too.

Generally, keep at least 1-2 of everything you find (if you can)., and sell the rest off if you have no immediate use for it. You can always find stuff again, just that some things are rarer than others (damn Iridium Ore).

Don't worry about doing everything. If you're just looking at the current day it's no wonder you're being stressed. The game is endless. Or at least 2 years before the story ends, but other than that there is all the time in the world. You'll get plenty of money soon enough and you'll end up having barely anything to do.

Don't worry about the timed side quests either. If you can do it, fine. But if you don't, then that's fine too. There is no penalty for not doing them.

Also, sell whatever you want to sell. Almost everything has a use down the line, but you'll end up getting those items again sooner or later.

I'm sitting in the uni library and all I want to do is go home and pick blueberries all day.

This game.

If only you could mod yourself irl to walk faster so you'll be able to play the game sooner once you're done at the library!

Alright, nice! Thanks for the fast info man.
