Massive ongoing protest in Chicago makes Trump "postpone" his event

Also I personally think that protesters should be disrupting all the candidates campaigns, the entire GOP is complicit in this - they should not be allowed to get away from the fact that this is what they stand for deep down. Their base - are voting for Trump and Cruz. Cruz is no less of a despicable being than Trump. Rubio has basically been mimicking Trump and only now in desperation is doing a 180. Kasich is a supposed to be moderate "compassionate" republican and he is still willing to back Trump, if he was truelly compassionate he would have made it clear he would look to endorse a 3rd party candidate or even a Dem ahead of Trump. These people deserve disruption and I'm fine if anyone has issues to disrupt Hills/Bernie - if those issues are legitimate I'd like to see how these candidates react to being asked the hard questions. But racism, bigotry, misogyny, incitement of violence, corruption and greed needs to be delegitimize by the majority of the public and this needs to happen this election. Trump right now stands for all these things so this is an expected reaction to his rise - people are standing up rejecting him and rejecting those who support him.

I missed this before. Yeah, sending out "in case I die today" to his friends kind of makes me think he wasn't planning to just grab the microphone from Trump.

He was taking up the invitation from Trump and was going to smack him in the face

I know the guy that stormed the stage at the Trump rally. He's the same guy that protested another cause by standing on a flag, and later burning it on Wright State University's campus.

Interesting dude. I guess he texted his friends, in the event he was killed at this rally. I hear he's refusing bail.

A black man grabbing the microphone from Trump at a Trump rally sounds like suicide to me tbh

The Rachel Maddow vid from last night is insane. I had no idea Trump was instructing his supporters to physically attack protestors. Fuck this piece of shit Trump. Republican party should grow some balls and kick him off the ticket. Even if it would mean a guaranteed General Election loss, at least they wouldn't be supporting someone inciting violence.

This protest is being spun by Trump, effectively, as a positive though. His supporters are now even more pissed off (if that was even possible), the conservatives who were unsure about Trump see him as the victim of their common enemy (liberals), and he's getting wall to wall coverage on the news.

Or maybe the supporters would kill him. See? We can all make up things in our heads. Considering a sucker punch can kill, who's to say he wasn't worried about a good old fashioned stomping to his person?

Trump supporters wouldn't be the ones to get to him, the secret service agents would. Those agents would only kill someone under very specific circumstances.

As others have said though, it's all speculation. Still very scary.

I believe the video from the other angle showed that it was a white guy

trump supporters can try and play increasingly more and more unfounded "politically correct" semantic games with each individual instance in which he incites violence to try and handwave it away, but taken all together it is impossible to deny

Nasty stuff..agreed. Wish he hadn't pushed people into this madness.

Here's an alternate angle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06d4t1704N8 It would've surprised me too as Trump had a fairly large buffer zone between him and the crowd as well as multiple security and secret service men standing in that buffer zone. The dude jumped over the fence like Jackie Chan and made a really good effort at getting to Trump.

"Get him! Kill him! Kick his ass! TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP"

Look at these fucking bros holy shit.

People DO need to review some of those numbers from previous elections

North Carolina

Obama 49.7 McCain 49.4

Romney 50.6 Obama 48.4

Indiana

Obama 50 McCain 48.9

Romney 54.3 Obama 43.8

Florida

Obama 50 Romney 49

Ohio

Obama 51 Romney 48

in percentages, and some of those are swing states. States that swing red during non-presidential election years. And the Latino vote can absolutely happen and has before, religion is a huge part to that vote.

You're talking 30 electoral votes when Republicans have a 20 electoral vote disadvantage built in.

Repeat after me: It is statistically unlikely for Donald Trump to win the presidential nomination.

Why all the doom and gloom about future events that are unlikely to happen when we can be gloomy about the sad state American politics are in right now?

Speaking about last night's protest..
Crunched was responding to Calamari41 who was talking about the protester that sent out the "in case I die today" email that Buttonbasher knows stood on and burned a flag on Wright State University's campus, which is in Dayton. I believe Buttonmasher was talking about the incident today in Dayton, not the one last night.

Lol the Trump supporters have come back out in this thread today. Trump isn't winning shit in the general election. More people will come out to vote against this asshole than people that want to vote for Hillary. He had little chance before these protests but now people are riled the fuck up. Normal americans won't allow a Trump presidency.

Yup, you all are right. Nothing to fear, Trump has no chance. Continue on as you were.

*bookmarks thread*

hey, there is plenty to fear - that's why i stress electability as a criteria and unity on the democratic front come november, no matter who the nominee is

but can you look at those favorability numbers - and really think trump will win with hispanics?

Thank you. Not sure why everyone assumed he was black...
Yesterday's protest. Black man stormed mic. Thread title says Chicago. More than one conversation going on..

Got you. Guess we'll need clarification.

I wonder what that Trump supporter who sucker punched that black protestor Wednesday thinks about protestors...oh.

http://www.insideedition.com/headli...protester-next-time-we-might-have-to-kill-him

The Trump supporter who was filmed sucker punching a protester during Wednesday’s rally in North Carolina said: "Next time, we might have to kill him."

Multiple videos show the protester, 26-year-old Rakeem Jones, raising a middle finger to the crowd as security escorted him from the rally - before the unnamed supporter punched him to the ground.

INSIDE EDITION tracked down the supporter, 78-year-old John McGraw, who was unrepentant.

When asked if he liked the rally, he said: “You bet I liked it. Knocking the hell out of that big mouth.”

And when asked why he punched the protester, he said: "Number one, we don’t know if he’s ISIS. We don’t know who he is, but we know he’s not acting like an American, cussing me... If he wants it laid out, I laid it out."

He added: “Yes, he deserved it. The next time we see him, we might have to kill him. We don’t know who he is. He might be with a terrorist organization.”

On Thursday, officials arrested and charged McGraw with assault and battery and disorderly conduct, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Jesus Christ Trump supporters are some stupid fucking racist mother fuckers. Fuck.

But yesterday's protest was a mixed group, hence the frustration at Hillary's comments.
Woah..I'm not doing the Hillary dance. I'm just saying there was a black dude that rushed the stage and grabbed the mic yesterday. Nothing more. Thought that was what the other poster was talking about, since it happened, and there are pictures (video?) of him in this thread.

How anybody can laugh at this just boggles my mind. If he had one extra step on the security detail, things could have gotten very dark.

??! What do you mean by "very dark"? People get beaten up at Trump rallies consistently. How is Trump above all of this mess? He is at least partially responsible.

Obama could have lost not just any of those states but ALL of those state and still won in 2008 and 2012.

I didn't have the exact numbers in front of me but I was pretty sure that was the case. I remember a pre-election map in 2012 where the analyst gave Romney every single toss-up state and it still wasn't enough to win.

People should realize that part of the reason the election turn-out was actually down in 2012 compared to 2008 was that the election wasn't really in doubt (unless you watched Fox) and Romney really wasn't hated by anyone on the left as much as he was regarded as a stuffed suit.

Trump is going to drive democratic turnout to insane levels which is exactly why the establishment is trying so hard to stop him.

First of all, those incidents at Trump rallies are very dark as well. Secondly, if this guy had been able to assault Trump, it's possible depending on how it played out that the secret service agents would have killed him.

Ah gotcha! And I wasn't accusing you of going Hillary.

Somehow no one is aware of any violence coming from his camp. Pushing, kicking, punching, threats of being killed..lightweight. Now? When people push back? Darkness..darkness everywhere! Funny, huh?

I've only been arguing that people shouldn't underestimate him, why are people arguing me on that point then? Also I just pulled some states numbers, I didn't even bother posting more because I though 50/49 was close enough to give pause but apparently not.

And yes, I live in FLORIDA, we have RUBIO. They have had daily stories on the news with latinos saying they support Trump despite his rhetoric. We have cubans that retell stories coming over on boats and still support republicans and their immigration policy, these are on the news in front of my eyes every day. Religion and democrat support of Cuba is a huge thing to them. I have mexican-american friends that despise illegal immigrants, even their own family members. There is a lot of people that assume the Latino vote like they wrongly assume the black vote for Sanders or Clinton. Poligaf needs to put down their statistical data for once and stop turning a blind eye to the weirdness of the Trump machine. I'm positive the GOP was using similar statistics to dismiss Trump at the start as well. I swear liberals are like arrogant Sony sometimes.

Trump is responsible for the violence by his protesters sure, but is he responsible for the violence against his protesters/himself?

I would hope that Secret Agents are more intelligent than your typical police officer... Can't see that happening at all.

Hmm my brother lives in Miami and seems to feel like you do (told me he thinks Trump is going to get 20% of the black vote) so now I'm just going to assume there's something weird in the water down there... which is too bad because I'm moving to Miami this summer ;_;

As I said before, the guy apparently predicted his own death before doing this. To me, that implies certain things when you know it's going to be you vs the secret service.

I've already said this is all speculation. I'm still allowed to be concerned about the state of the political landscape.

And yes, I live in FLORIDA, we have RUBIO. They have had daily stories on the news with latinos saying they support Drumpf despite his rhetoric. Religion and democrat support of Cuba is a huge thing to them. I have mexican-american friends that despise illegal immigrants, even their own family members. I mean if you look hard enough you can find someone to say anything. Like how we suddenly had dozens of black people who loved the confederate flag when it was under fire last year. No matter how many anecdotes people can bring up it doesn't change the real numbers.

Also Obama won both of his elections by triple digits at the electorate, that's not close. Trump can win, but it's very unlikely and it would take a perfect storm of factors, but I doubt anyone would deny that.

That said I do agree with you and the Dems need to take Trump as a serious threat.

Trump is responsible for the violence by his protesters sure, but is he responsible for the violence against his protesters/himself?

Trump said some of the most divisive things I've ever heard ANYONE say. Either he's really stupid or he does realize that there are consequences to his words and says those things anyway. I'm not trying to justify any sort of violence here, but you don't have to be extremely intelligent to see that Trump is stirring up racial conflict.
