YES YES YES! Thank god it is not a MS only dividing issue anymore.
It is no longer about console wars, but the future of how consoles will be handled.
Personally I agree since one of the main complaints for most this gen has been performance and this is in part with the outdated hardware and how stupid slow the console game industry is evolving vs others. So upgrades for the hardware every 2/3 years similar to how older console gens lasted would be great for all. That way I feel consoles could get closer to PC in terms of performance and gaming in general benefits from this. It feels like the disconnect we used to have with console.arcade quality that eventually went away.
Now this is what I feel and I am happy that Sony is discussing this as well as MS. What I fear is the apathy and anger of gamers. I feel hey would rage at incremental upgrades, they wil rage and still complain about bad performance if that makes any sense. I've always been of the opinion that many gamers are just cheap. They love gaming but do not want to support it so they complain about high prices and just don't support. It is the only thing that make me fears this development.
Normal consumer though...they are used to this with phones so I do not see this as a bad thing for them.
I really like the ideas that are coming out this year for console gaming. Incremental upgrades, full cross-play, more yearly events to announce new stuff/tech/upgrades not only games for E3 or new console unveiling. I am liking to where we are headed, but please please please let the community follow along and evolve with it. Don't crap on this,, it is good for all.
