Batman v Superman Spoiler Thread: Don't believe everything you read, Son

Why is Superman saying Martha so bad? It's not unusual for someone to call their parent's their name. Probably even more likely when they found out about their real parents.

And if he said it because he was trying to hide his identity, wouldn't that also be plausible?

I don't know. I don't really call my Mum by her first name, either a nickname or mum etc. That said I don't think it's bad because well...Superman's just had his first whack of Kryptonite, feverish and out of his mind etc, not quite with it. It's kinda convenient but not that contrived. If he said, seriously and under no K-Rock, "I must save Martha" it'd sound kinda dumb but....Kryptonite exists to be a plot device so they might as well get it out the way quickly and early on.

You ain't gotta apologize. It's not like you're somehow wrong for liking what you like the way you like it. I just don't get it, and I don't see how it applies to this movie to anywhere near the level of importance you're placing on it. But that's a "to each their reach" scenario. I'm just saying it ain't mine to grab, personally. I'm betting even if it's something that's addressed in the extended cut, it's addressed nominally, if at all. Because it just doesn't seem important in the least to the story they're trying to tell.

I believe Snyder just told someone on the press tour that they left Joker & Riddler out of the movie for exactly those reasons.
I'm kind of crazy obsessed with the Robins so. :P I didn't even expect it to be a major theme. I would have been ecstatic with just a name drop.

You won't have to wait much! Suicide squad comes in August and I'm sure they won't gloss over that fact.
Oh, that's true. :o

Anyways, don't want to be spoiled anymore than I already have for the rest of the film, so I'm out. D:

Ahh okay. That is cool then. Why and how Flash triggers it can remain a mystery as long as Flash triggers it :)

Yeah...especially because...well imagine if it's Flash doing some time travelling, and the Knightmare Flash is from a timeline where the JL didn't assemble and Earth got wrecked by Darkseid's attack...it could be a link between BvS, WW and the rest of the DCEU so that we know Darkseid is coming at some point and there's a time where Earth lost, badly.

I'm curious if the ship Luthor finds is actually Kryptonian from Zod's attack or if it's another time travelling plot device and the Kryptonite was sent back because it was used to defeat Doomsday in the Knightmare Timeline.

Possible dp

Knowing that everything about that SHH is accurate i really regret reading it.

Why do i have to be so weak :(

Geez, Superman fans continuously getting a raw deal. I hope he wins like a moral victory or something. Like he inspires Bruce to reevaluate his harsh stance on crime fighting.

Superman calls his parents by their names all the time in the comics when he sees them in costume.

Well, specifically he calls them Mr and Mrs. Kent but it would be weird if he screamed MRS KENT while she was dying

I don't give a shit that you don't give a shit that we give a shit, friend. If I don't get a Nightwing solo movie out of this deal, I'm gonna be pissed.

I can't see a Nightwing solo movie within the next 10 years. It would just be like a redundant Batman film. Maybe a Titans movie, or Nightwing takes the cowl and becomes the new Batman.

I think we'll see him in the Batman solo film though, and we'll probably find out who the dead robin is in squad.

I'm just saying that although you would not call her by her first name, that it wouldn't really be odd for someone else or given the context of this particular scene.

Oh, I know. I didn't mean to disagree just there's a couple of reasons that are quite valid and not poor writing etc or pulling a rabbit out of a hat to get to that point.

I for one cannot stand watching the Christopher Reeves Superman. Corny as shit movies that have aged terribly.

Blah blah blah Birthright blah blah blah All Star Superman blah blah blah For All Seasons

That's all they ever refer to.

There is an irony (?) in the writer knocking Snyder for not knowing shit about canon when they ignore John Byrne or Christopher Reeve in that section. Even though canon in comics is a bit wishy washy

Mark Waid claims that the higher ups at DC (especially Didio) don't like Nightwing so I'm not sure if we will ever get a Nightwing movie unless they are all gone.

I think it stems from Didio wanting to kill Nightwing during infinite crisis, a bit of secret sauce to make the event sell that much more. Instead Geoff Johns and a few writers got cold feet and killed off Superboy instead.

It's moot because he would have been back in a few years anyway.

Waid also claimed that he's been trying to write the Nightwing comic for years and he's constantly told that he's too big of a writer for a character light Nightwing.

I find baffling that there are people in the upper positions of DC rooting against their own characters and underappreciating them. If I were a high executive, I'd try the hardest to make all my characters good and push them all to the forefront as it's either them or the competition's.

I'd advise you into watching Donner's cut of Superman 2, released in 2006. It actually surprised me how modern it felt. Watch it now.

Will try watching it but god some of the scenes man... Superman is not just a goody two shoes. He can be majestic, regal and awe inspiring. Basically I want a goody two shoes Superman that flies like this

Look at that shit. Can anyone look at that vid and tell me Superman does not look majestic and awe inspiring as fk. This is what I imagined Supes to look like flying when I read the comics as a kid. That costume, that cape... I need a Superman like that but one who is also insanely kind hearted. I am hoping this film combines the two much better than MoS. That is all I am hoping for!

Donner's Superman 2 literally humanizes him. The fact the studio needed to replace the director and reshoot most of the film for it to feel more like a blockbuster tells you everything you need to know. it's closer to Raimi's Spiderman 2,

“The Joker and The Riddler both came close to being in this movie. We talked about the possibility of putting them in. Chris Terrio and I talked about it a lot and felt that their mythological presence is felt in the movie and that’s cool, but I didn’t want to get my eye too far off the ball because I needed to spend the time, frankly, with Batman and Superman to understand the conflict."

That score....damn.

Zimmer's MoS theme>>>>>>>>every other superhero theme

Did the SHH guy give an opinion on the film? Like whether he liked it or not, as well as the detailed plot break down? Kind of don't want to click through if its all true.

People complaining about Batman "killing" is ridiculous, in the way the SHH post describes it, it's exactly the same way that Christian Bale's batman killed goons in The Dark Knight Rises. Watch the scene where Batman is attacking the league of shadows convoy at the end, he totally guns down the driver of the bomb-truck (Talia even throws his corpse out of the truck or something) and there's a couple of others.

Superboy was killed off because DC temporarily lost the rights to the character, from what I remember.

Man, what a fucking DC vs. Marvel shitstorm this summer is going to kick off.

I don't know anything spoilery about Civil War outside what the trailers have shown of the plot, but holy shit there's a TON of tonal/plot similarities between the two, and they're both addressing essentially the same thematic questions.

There's gonna be a LOT of parallels to draw between the two films, and people are going to be fucking HAWWNGRAAY like Dark Knight dawgs to chew on em.

Now imagine if they still were opening on the same day. Lord.

So?
People probably didn't like it there either.

We're looking at the superhero equivalent of Volcano vs. Dante's Peak, I think.

Deep Impact vs. Armageddon

DAY vs. NIGHT

SON OF KRYPTON VS BAT OF GOTHAM

(this "Bat of Gotham" thing sounds dumb to me. Same with "Bat vigilante")

It'll be interesting if Cap dies and then they go further on and compare how he returns to Superman returning. The difference is I don't think we'll have to wait until 2018 to find out how Superman returns :P.

There is one big difference though:

Civil War sounds like it's not going to have a manipulator like BvS does with Lex. It's pure hero v hero. I don't really care for that shit, not even Batman v Superman because all it does is fragment the fan base. Atleast for DC it's also disappointing because there are a ton of cool villains they can use, and honestly I get the feeling the BvS & Doomsday fight are going to outshine anything Marvel can put on the table at this point.

We all forgetting X-men though.
