Batman v Superman Spoiler Thread: Don't believe everything you read, Son

If this movie were to be poorly received from critics, it may overshadow the production of the Justice League movie for the next year with the narrative being 'Synder's last DC movie'. In that sense, it's odd that Warner Bros effectively gave him control over the DC franchise with 3 back-to-back films.

It's clear in that you understand his issue with Superman, and the plan with Batman, but I had difficulty with the extreme he went to with Spike-Hulk. That's where he lost me a little. As in, why that far? He becomes a bit too much of a maniac with that move I felt. (And that's saying something considering what he does in this movie.) Not that I'm really complaining since I still liked his character, but I want him reigned in a little.

Oh, I think he went more and more manic the more things didn't go his way.

He seems like he holds grudges. Like what he did to Senator Finch. Or how he provokes Bruce Wayne.

I think why was so fascinating to me. He keeps up the charade of "charm" until his final scene, but was always... such a frightening character. The whole burn the witch thing was messed up on all levels.

But, I get what you mean like... what is Batman had killed Superman... there was no sign he knew how to control Doomsday. I believe Superman had to save him from being punched to death.

That was my problem with him. The extended edition could solve this if they provide us with some more knowledge, but as it stands, my interpretation was that he hated Supersauce to the extent that he was willing to play a card he had no way of knowing the result of, and I'm not sure I really like that. It feels a bit too much even for him.

You mean Lex? He does that shit all the time. He's sort of blinded by his rage against Superman so he goes overboard.

Sounds like we're less than half an hour away from Meltdown City.
*30 years from now* And that my son is how the internet wars began. A few nerds couldn't take an average review for a big comic book movie so they declared war on everyone, of course they got destroyed within like a day.

Well this is the spoiler thread and a few pages back you guys were talking about how Supes has to go save Martha so I thought I'd ask.

I'm a little surprised just how negative the reviews. I mean I wasn't that happy with the movie completely, I still had a great time watching, but I would NEVER say it's anywhere near The Phantom Menace

Thinking back on the last two years, it really does feel like people had it out for this movie. It's really ridiculous.

I can't believe I haven't thought to ask this yet, is there a Superman shirt rip and if you're a Superman fan did it make you squee?

Other best Batman says otherwise. :

He even kills with a smile on his face!

As strange s it sounds. This felt more comedic in its delivery. Yes I am acknowledging the guy died, but something about Batman killing in that way just seems more...... villainous.

LOL Silver Age Batman killed IIRC.
You're thinkingg Golden Age. I think the Silver age one maybe killed one or two living being, not counting like vampires and robots, but they turned out to not be dead. Bronze age Batman just fucked dudes up and made them wish they were dead. Sometimes he'll let people die when he could save them.

It's funny to see the reaction to it. Again, 99% of his kills are the same as Keaton or Bale bats. The exception is Anatoli Knyazev, aka KG Beast, a character Batman kills in the comics...until it's retconned.

I will say that Batman's "I believe you" before killing KGBeast was... awesome. I was totally fine with this Batman portrayal. Like, I'm very aware that Batman isn't supposed to kill people but it worked.

Hey Bronson,

Looks like the review thread is learning what we already know to be true.

So I'm watching Grace Randolph's Spoiler Review and she brought up something about her friends' viewing experience that I'm wondering if this is where the "incoherent" complaints about the plot are coming from.

She said that her friends felt the movie was mediocre and when questioned about it they didn't understand a lot of the dialogue as it pertained to the larger universe. Things that she understood and thought nothing of actually caused her friends to not enjoy the movie. Their lack of knowledge about DC (and just a basic grasp of Batman and Superman) left them disconnected.

Those of you who have seen it (and can be objective) think there is some truth to this?

If I didn't know anything about DC, and I'm no expert by any means, there's at least two or three moments that would be very, very confusing to people who have no knowledge whatsoever. I think the writers were assuming that people have a base knowledge of most of the characters, but even then a few points can be super confusing if not outright vague (such as lines of dialogue spoken during a vision that I had a really hard time making out or understanding why they are now relevant to this current story).

I mean he doesn't straight up shoot people in the face for no reason, but he is totally indiscriminate with his machine guns on the Batmobile and Batwing and there's no way a lot of those people could survive those explosions or crashes, and he doesn't bat an eye at it.

For those that have seen it, between Bruce and Diana (use spoilers)

1) is there anything more than innocent flirting between the two?

2) do you think they might try to build something between those 2 in future moves

I think the reviews are going a bit too hard. It's not a good movie, but it's not nearly as actively awful as they're saying.

This thread is going to be a dumpster fire Thursday night, too.

Yeah it's not as horribly bad as the reviews are saying but I'm not sure I'd want to watch it again. I can't imagine how bloated they made the ultimate edition.

Bruce asks her to help him find the other metahumans so that answers both questions.

I said it was ok but not great. People like to pile on...

Yes, it will be a dumpster fire by Thursday night. Agreed.

Just got out of the theater. I really didn't like it.

The Flash looks SO BAD.

E: I can't believe how many people Batman straight up murders in this.

Yeah because Batman 89 is a mocked and hated movie because Batman kills in it. Everyone hates Keaton Batman!

i hate the Burton movies. i feel like Nolan is the only one who has gotten live action Batman right. animation wise, most are pretty good, especially the animated series which was based on the Burton movies.

Batman's no kill rule has come and gone.
no way, it was such a big part of the Nolan trilogy. are you dismissing those films already?

Ya know, except for all those people Bale's Batman murdered.
