NX Controller Rumor [Up5: Original was fake, and thus this is too]

I think it's funny that the websites trying to debunk the leak are all Nintendo fan sites because they can't believe that Nintendo are doomed. Sorry folks the leak looks legit on the bright side, the controller won't get mistaken for one of my niece's toys :/

The controller DOES look pretty sleek as a piece of industrial design, I have to admit. I am getting original Nintendo 3DS vibes from its design.

...still interested in the haptic touch tech after reading about it for the good part of today. This controller could be ahead of its time or a massive blunder.

Really curious how this develops though.

Team Fake , Team Real? Is that's what Captain America and Iron Man fighting over?

Has to be. Cap wants it to be fake because he needs the buttons because he's from the old days when things kids play with had buttons but Iron Man is all high tech and doesn't need buttons because he's a smart phone using super hero on the go.

So it's real. I'm not going to jump to any conclusions but I am highly skeptical that this will be any good. Nintendo shying away from physical buttons is the exact opposite of what I expected them to do. In my opinion, the number one thing that separates game consoles from smart devices is physical buttons. So to release a new console that's so similar to smart devices doesn't make sense to me, but I'll wait for more details before making any conclusions.

I'm not saying I don't trust you, and I'm not saying I do. But I do.

I didn't want to say anything at that time, but John's later reply of "I don't have anything to add at this time. Not being coy, just respectful" was some pretty pretty interesting phrasing

I'm not sure you'd say it quite like that if you thought it was fake

Sounds to me like y'all are the delusional ones with this narrative.

I have no doubt that NWR knows some people, but they use cats as "a little birdie told me" when they're not confident enough to put their own name behind their work.

There's a reason why Liam Robertson's inside scoops are banned on NeoGAF. Because he knows people who know things, and those people sometimes lie to him. His reputation is ruined because he trusted the wrong people a few times too often, and they abused his trust for their own gain.

NWR asked someone, and that someone told them it's fake. NWR believes this source, and they believe that this rumor needs to be shut down, but they don't trust this source, not with their reputation. This source could be lying to them and they don't want to have egg on their faces if/when the truth comes out, so they marked this denial as "rumor" and said that cats wrote the story.

That's pretty much the opposite of a "firm debunking". NWR heard that it's fake. They apparently believe that it's fake. But... maybe?

The leak made more sense when it was assumed it was the handheld. This as the home console controller seems more improbable.

View it in the context that the WiiU was a complete failure and that it's likely that many former-WiiU games will make their way onto the NX

For these reasons and more I feel it makes sense for them to take a second stab at "what if your controller had a screen in it". I would have a harder time believing a leak that didn't include a screen in the controller

what, that's not true at all

The main TeamReal argument is that there are multiple high-resolution screenshots of a device that looks exactly like we've been expecting and they have yet to be discredited.

The closest TeamFake has gotten is "well you could 3D print it", but I mean, how on earth can you argue against that? It's like saying that yeah, technically life could be a computer simulation and we're all in the Matrix. I can't definitively prove that's wrong

but remember, here's what a 3D printed electronic device looks like

this is from Apple, a company with a ton of money and resources, after months of development and refinement on this prototype. It still looks like a toy with a funhouse mirror for a screen

and yet some college kid could spit out the device we're looking at? in just a day or so?

The UE4 piece on the white version doesn't pass the sniff test, IMO. The coincidences are just too high.

This is crazy, Nintendo need to officially debunk this or confirm that it's real and announce a date when we can see how cool it really is and why they designed it this way, the current way people talk about this is seriously bad PR.

Disregard the #teamreal but let's think for a moment.

Say this is all one leaker.

Make a white colored fake. Take bad pics on purpose. Paint it black, wait a few days, take nice picture of new black model to give off impression it's from a different source.

The mic hole being gone on the black model reeks of plasti-dip.

That Swedish macbook though convinces me, however.

EDIT: MY READING COMPREHENSION SUCKS

Yeah, I just thought a few minutes ago that this second leak could be the same guy or they could be working together to further lend credibility to the first one that people doubted more.

I hope we get a Nintendo Land 2 out of this. The first one was the most fun multiplayer experience I've had since couch co-op Warhawk on PS3 (still the GOAT).
Those scroll wheels are MADE for Monster Hunter. I'm actually looking forward to the prospect of playing a Monster Hunter with the rumoured nx controller.

And how do you know that its real?

I don't, but honestly this is too in line with previous patent discoveries that our own Rosti has posted that I can see something like this being true. If anything, they're prototype versions of the console controller.

It's wacky too, people are freaking out, it just seems like the real deal.

What I find hilarious is the people shouting Nintendos doom exactly the same way when the wii was revealed lol.

Following this trend it looks like the NX will dominate XD

Like said over and over though, the patent was the perfect blueprint to make a fake.

It's not like these leaks came before it was discovered.

It's 50/50 for me though.

I think people have got to stop talking about the Wii.

The Wii was a perfect storm that captured the attention of the media and families everywhere. Thats never going to happen again, and I hope Nintendo realizes that.

Strange that so many people are still see it as a portable device instead of as the new controller for the nx console. (like the source say). Yet i'm aware that's almost 1april...

Sure it looks a lot like the patents but thats about it. I wroge it before but why don't we get a video of that thing running a game or even a menu? Thats the only part which still makes me feel it's a fake.

I just realized that a touchscreen controller on the console is a chance for Jump Ultimate Stars 3 in HD.
It's not going to happen, but damn it, a man can dream.

Single screen controller for the handheld means that the dream is dead. ;_;

Avatar bet or burst! ;p

Capitan pls, what do you take me for? Why would I make a random avatar bet on a forum?
;D

Yeah that's true as well, I just have this hunch though.

I think a small part of me wants this to be true because haptic buttons done right on a touchscreen controller sounds so futuristic that it would be crazy, yet cool. I'm probably in the minority of the minority but I'm willing to keep an open mind about it. If this is true though, I do hope there are some grip accessories for the thing cause the ergonomics are indeed something else.

If it is fake then Nintendo can just go back to being Doomed on a normal scale lol.

Well, if Nintendo actually tried to use tablet tech instead of shoving a oversized PDA between two halves of a controller with NFC and IR TV remote, things might be different.
Yes, it'd have made the massive, expensive controller even more expensive, further making WiiU an unprofitable system.
