Not with Apple's 3D-Touch technology, where you have to put force on the screen to press, and then get haptic feedback.
My iPhone has it. Press hard for preview. It knows how hard ur pressing. If it gives some kinda feedback your on the button, then doesn't activate until you press down, it could work
not true on apple's recent screens, they have pressure sensing built in.
Once you press it, mistakenly or not, you pressed it.
Yeah, if something is not in the frame of reference you would adjust. You would not stand in one place blocking it.
I think you may underestimate the size of this thing.

They can expand the area of the buttons like this if they wanted to so one glance down when you start the game and you'll know where everything is.
Seems like a non issue. You don't have to look down to see where the ABXY buttons are
Probably connects his laptop to that Samsung monitor.Have we discussed the HDMI cable?

Could it be connected to the controller? What does the string on the connector say?
Is this some Asian charset?

Yeh, and then Game Y has 3 buttons but they're in different positions and slightly different sizes so then you have to get used to those then and remember where to tap. Bad idea imo.About the "I have to look down!??!" Crowd:

Yeah that was my thinking as well. But usually they did these briefings early May, that's why I said May.Rösti;199102428 said:Just for clarification, Nintendo's FY 2015 Financial Results Briefing is tentatively scheduled for April 28, 2016 (JST). I made a countdown a while ago, this corresponds to Pacific time:

And also to reflect what the insider said, Mr. Kimishima said this in the Q&A sesssion of the Third Quarter Financial Results Briefing for Fiscal Year Ending March 2016

For them to announce reveal date, final name and if it's a console or handheld during this briefing or even the tentative news conference on April 27 seems reasonable.

Thanks Rösti.
I hope they take a picture of the back of this "controller". I'd really like to see what the back of this device looks like.

Figured this would be a good exercise. Made a quick UI animation concept:

Hear it with sound for that extra OOMPH.
- Contextual actions/buttons
- Click down on left analog stick for weapon wheel
Awesome mockup man, but overall I really hope this doesn't turn out. Just seeing the sword button as a touch command gives me the willies.
It has two analog sticks? What's the problem there?
They double downed on a concept that resulted in their second worst console. Too good to be true.

Dpad has been used mostly for item switching or small actions like that which can be mapped to the touchscreen.Sorry, I just prefer to feel the buttons while I am staring at my TV screen. And what about the d-pad? If this is the controller for the console then they pretty much just went backwards from the Wii U and it will flop like a fish. Who does this target?
I've stated it before and I'll state it again, the concept for the Wii U wasnt the issue, the marketing and consumer confusion was.

It's funny how that guy had that concern about camera movement. As if Nintendo doesn't take all those things into consideration. They put out handhelds since the Game & Watch days. I think they know what they are doing after all these years.
Forgot about tha but I don't see Nintendo using it, not unless this device is iPhone priced. Nintendo like to cheap out on mass produced screens, so I cannot see them jumping in this deep.
The 350 price tag was an issue
Software Drought was an issue
Word of Mouth of how it had performance problems out of the gate was an issue
Has anyone considered/brought up that touch-screen buttons might not be a big deal regardless of haptics when we do have something physical to rely on? I've had a feeling it may be possible to intuitively know where to press if you use the control nub as a landmark position. After that, devs merely need to design their touch interfaces to orbit the nubs.

After thinking about this a bit, I'm putting myself on #TeamFence.
The size of the hands is much bigger in your second pic.If the on screen buttons required it, you wouldn't adjust much. I'd more lean toward there being real buttons on the back.
There's a pair of headphones next to it for scale. I don't think there's underestimation.
Eh, as much as I love many things Nintendo, no they don't necessarily know what they are doing all the time. The 3DS revision coming with a second analogue nub, additional shoulder buttons and the circle pad on the 3DS are prove enough for that.

I thought that your fingers don't ever need to leave the thumb sticks. The buttons are in the thumb sticks, but the display on the controller is just like a help menu since it will all be context sensitive. To switch between using a thumb stick to move the camera and select a button, you would have to hold down a button (on the back I would guess), like a shift key. When you think about how we use a controller, we have to move our thumbs up and down from the control stick to the buttons and back again. I think this simplifies the setup so that the control stick acts as both, because you can't do both at the same time currently. I don't think you actually would press any buttons on the screen and you would always know what you were pressing because your hands would never leave the control stick. I just wonder if the control stick can actually feel like buttons or not.
Price is part of marketing. Software Drought should be alleviated by a shared libraryThe 350 price tag was an issue

Nintendo making games appear shorter confirmed.
Price is still 250 here in Germany.Probably upon release, but the price pretty much dropped to $200 not long after.
But which side of the fence has trees? That's the one you go to.After thinking about this a bit, I'm putting myself on #TeamFence.
This could go either way. I know it's apparently just a dev kit but the design is a bit too close to the patent.
I'll continue to keep an open mind.
I think Nintendo wants to go after three markets with this device:
1) Clash of Clans type of games.
2) Traditional games that do not require many buttons or powerful hardware. Games like Final Fantasy Dragon Quest or indie games.
3) Their own games

I'd rather be boring than invest myself mentally to the idea that this is a real or fake thing. That's as exciting as a fence.
But which side of the fence has trees? That's the one you go to.
The gif showing the aspect ratio of the UE4 demo confirmed it was fake.
Which was Mario's original occupation. It's code, he's a Nintendo insider.
I demand a picture of them holding it.
You know, iPhones and iPads also don't have microphone holes on the front. Only back and sides. Now that I look at it... the camera doesn't really look like a camera. You can't see the lens at all, it just looks straight up like acrylic or whatever material the screen is using here. And it makes zero sense to have a camera on the bottom. It won't capture your face at all, just your body, if you're ever going to use this thing for video chat. There's a reason laptops, all mobile phones, DSi, 3DS, Wii U have the camera at the top. It makes zero sense.
Also if you look closely, the white prototype has a mic hole to the left of the "camera". The black one has no such hole in any of the three photos. Of course it could simply be because it's black, but you can't see any kind of hole/indentation at all.
So where did the mic go?
Yeah, I'm leaning towards Team Fake now.
