God damn it's at 32% now. I was at least hoping it would settle down in the 40% category.

Now I don't want to see the film on Sunday anymore.

JJ started out with a lot of promises for the first 4-5 episodes then devolved into last season of Dexter level of contrivances and stupidity. To me DD S1 was miles ahead and now S2 is in another world completely in terms of quality.

How are you guys saying JJ is better than Daredevil? How? Explain it to me.... because it's not.

Critically speaking, JJ was very well received. If you stay in the GAF bubble it's a pile of shit, but in the wider world it's regarded pretty highly.

The reason it was critically acclaimed? Generally speaking, it's drama and themes were at a higher level than DD, and it was overall a lot more novel. "Vigilante with a strong sense of justice fights his way through gangsters" is pretty old ground for superhero media; "self-loathing rape survivor in a cat-and-mouse with her abuser" isn't.

I know that opening weekends are usually based on how well the marketing has done its job, but with the sheer flood of negative reviews for this coming up in the last couple of days, I wonder how it might impact the numbers.

Tonight/Friday is going to be big anyways, but will the negativity drag Saturday and Sunday down?

If you add up MOS and BvS's scores, you get the average score of TDK Trilogy

I hope so. This movie doesnt deserve 1bn $

Jessica Jones isn't a superhero story, and it's pretty inaccessible if you don't have a frame of reference for the issues it's trying to tackle (just like how comic book movies might be inaccessible for people who don't have some reference point for comic books). But as a whole I think JJ does what it sets out to do way better than any other Marvel property, even if it isn't appealing at all to the typical Marvel fanbase.

I personally like Daredevil more and I probably won't rewatch Jessica Jones, but Jessica Jones definitely was the better-made show.
No way. You can tell that they had a small budget. Those action scenes don't come close to the Hulk TV show. The characters are all unlikable except the villain. They had no idea what they were doing with Nuke.

i agree with everything here except that the behining barely held my interest. I was about to quit 3/4 into the first episode, then told by a fellow gaffer to watch it until episode 2's terrible action scene ... Stick with it for David Tennant, and fast forwarded the last 3 episodes.

I'm not saying Daredevil doesn't have problems, but I lasting impression was I wanted more DD.

Opening weekend is more than likely safe. It's the 2nd week that should be paid more attention too.

It's good that it doesn't have any real competition for a month but bad WOM might cause it not to have great repeat business.

I've experienced the exact opposite, the only acclaim I've seen for the show is in GAF... And of course friends' girlfriends, but they don't count cause they watch horrible shows like real housewives of basketball players or sumtin.

Haha no. You think this shitty attempt at Trying to capture that Avengers magic is going to cause Civil War to see lower box office numbers?

Shitty movies have lower popularity. Not one shitty movie ruining an entire genre.

If anything, I think this might be beneficial to Civil War, if it's anything as good as James Gunn is reporting, this might give Marvel more money after dissapointed fans wants to see a good superhero movie with a similar premise (two heroes fighting each other)

Hack is a mercenary, a guy who makes things with minimal effort because he doesn't give a shit about the quality of the end product. They "hack" things out as fast as possible so they can move onto the next job and get the next check.

Zack Snyder isn't a hack. He's bad at story, and appears to have lost whatever sense of pacing he once had, but he does give a shit about the films he makes.

Thank you. I can't stand the misuse of the word in film threads. I'm sure this won't put a damper on it though. :)
