Why say something when you don't know? How come he didn't say this last week? Why wait until some photo comes out? He's only stirring the pot and now it's all been revealed to be fake.

While I've been a bit mixed on the whole team real/fake, I do think Nintendo intends to use this tech. They did make a patent, the fake is based on an actual idea...but it will likely be nicer to hold (handles) and maybe more buttons.

It's easy for people to soft confirm inklings and rumors they heard from within the industry when they get presented by a physical manifestation of their suspicions. It's even easier when the patents conveniently back it up.

Aspects that made the leak seem fake early on was the UE4 pic being zoomed in and off centered. A few people suggested it was nothing so I'm glad I was right there

It also looked really clean for a non finalized, pre-release dev kit. Pretty sure dev kits aren't loose like the second, more convincing one is.

He said "Somebody "confirmed" the last set of pictures to me". He's implying to us that he knows a "somebody" who can "confirm" these things. What does that tell you? How can that "somebody" "confirm" these when they were faked by a dude on reddit? This only tells me he knows no one and likes to play the role of he knows people.
I don't know who he is, and I honestly couldn't care less. I'm just a member of this forum reading stuff other members post, and all I have is this proof presented in front of me. I'm not one to blindly follow posters who claim they're insiders to feel special about themselves. I like proof, and this dude proved his "connect" is full of it.
If ShockingAlberto can prove otherwise, please do. Although I don't know how he'll do it.
Moral of the story here, don't believe everything you read and see. We have mods who should verify people. When mods do, I don't question anymore.

There's a second "leak" with the exact same design as the first one, and somehow it passes off as MAYBE it's real?

I think this all says a lot about the insiders here on GAF. If it weren't for some high profile accounts that came into the original photo leak thread to say cryptic messages (no matter how ambiguous) we wouldn't have so many people believing it was real. I clearly remember seeing a dramatic shift in tone from "fuck this, this is fake" to "OMG [INSIDER X] SAID SOMETHING MAYBE IT IS REAL!" There was even quite a bit of backlash against GAFers who didn't know the insider in which more veteran accounts were saying things along the lines of "So-and-so is very respectable, and you shouldn't treat them like that." Now I firmly believe that, but I also believe that their voice carries weight that was probably best left out of the entire conversation. I have to admit, as a relative newcomer to GAF, I was influenced by their input and the rest of the community's respect in them. I still trust them, but I don't envy the slippery slop in which they sometimes find themselves having to communicate. They probably really didn't know whether it was fake or not. In retrospect, the message was very much along the lines of "Nintendo is pissed because they cannot confirm or deny any rumors."
Mostly I have a new outlook on fraudsters in this day and age! They have officially graduated from photoshopping images to potentially fucking 3D printing actual mockups and photographing them. In a world with 3D printing technology, we can no longer take anything for granted! (It's kinda awesome)
However, they still haven't successfully mastered video trickery.

I mean, I tend to expect the best out of Alberto, but the fact that he spoke up about being told the first photo was real only after the second set appeared along with tweets by McNamara is suspect.

Like imagine if Apple's next iPhone was going to have a headphone jack, but now they have bad press saying they won't. Creates a bad precedent.

The 1st leaker said he had nothing to do with the 2nd leak. The 1st leak is a 3D model, and the leaker says he believes the 2nd leak was 3D printed, but said that he never shared his model with anyone

That's a good question. That maybe can't be answered. But why such a blatant fake would impact the real product in the end?
If it looks nothing like the next iPhone why should Apple be bothered? They reveal it on their terms and that's it.

TBF to Rösti, all he said was that his source wasn't pleased that this was shown.
Rösti took it as "oh, so this is real!" instead of "oh, so you're upset that you can't debunk it and you're receiving negative press over some fake".
That's what I got from the clarification. Would've helped to not have posted that first vague coded post which sparked the fire.

So? The two controllers were practically identical. There's no way the first leaker somehow made the exact same controller as the real thing, assuming the second one is real. And since that can't be, both have to be fake

Not to get this entire training going again, but there are small differences in the two sets of photos other than the color. For one, the white (now self-admitted fake), has a small "B" button icon and a right arrow icon surrounding the right thumb stick. I also think the thumb sticks in the black images are a bit smaller in size. Of course this is all most likely the "new" fake following the fad of the old and missing a couple of its features in the process. Or maybe the white fake was actually magically prophetic of the real deal?!
At the end of the day, I hope you are all aware that we've witness history here. This will be reference material for the future. I can see it now. "Remember when we were batshit over 'NX' leaks that were fakes?"

Probably because in confidentiality they can't confirm or deny anything and let it roll out on its own. Having it color perceptions of their product.
