Well, going back to the patents like I keep doing in the thread, there are shoulder buttons and shoulder wheels. One also described back paddles. Then another patent talked about interchangeable buttons that you could take in and out and put where you want (think Xbox Elite).

We really don't know what we might be getting but patents also still talk physical buttons.

l'd be fine with this sort of design for the handheld with physical buttons around the right stick. For a home console controller though it feels like a waste of ressources.
