Dark Souls III [Import OT] Kindle the fire, one last time

played like 15 hours now or more.. love it, with two hindrances.. one is that it's in japanese and because of it I'm even more blind than otherwise, two is because of the absolutely horrible console framerate. bloodborne but even worse. it's just so bad that it really detracts from my enjoyment, especially when doing multiplayer activities the framerate just suffers even more. it feels so unsmooth.

when it comes out on PC in NA both those will be resolved, so... A++++++++++ game

Glad to hear that. The PC version is what I'll be playing.

It's better than Dark Souls 2

Well I love DS2 so that works for me!

This is the path to the secret ending.

So... I uh... I just found this secret area and I don't even know how to explain what it is. It doesn't make sense within the context of the rest of the game.

I found Firelink Shrine. Another, identical one, guarded by a different Gundyr and tended by a different handmaiden. Andre is absent, but his hammer remains and there was a dead NPC with some weird eyeballs item on her.

What's crazy is that this wasn't accessed through some portal or timewarp, it's just hidden in the real world. It's kind of confounding.

Lore experts are going to have a field day with this.

Requoting this because I just figured out what to do with those
eyes. You give them to the firekeeper to get the third, secret ending.

Ugh, this sucks. I'm so tempted to do this, because I feel like nobody else has yet, but I have no idea what will happen.

DO IT DO IT DO IT.

Also stream it.

Nobody have an answer about
how to go human-looking
in this, from last page? :'l

Feels like it should be an obvious mechanic I'm missing.

Finally beat P

S

. Damn that was a hard fight but it was so fun. Easily one of my favourite boss fights in the entire series. The fight's gimmick (
that "before"-image in the second phase
) was really cool too.

I like that FROM can still mix it up really well after so many games in the series.

Can anyone help me with the area after the 3rd boss?

I'm stuck in the poison swamp type of level with the slugs and don't know which way is the right way. I just keep getting poisoned and get mauled by those huge dragon-looking things.

Also, am I close to the next boss?

It's better than Dark Souls 2

When its all said and then, I think the ranking for Souls games will go something like this:

Dark Souls > Bloodborne > Demon's Souls > Dark Souls III > Dark Souls 2. From what I have seen so far of Dark Souls 3, it will contain series high points like those of Bloodborne and DS, but it will also have DS2- tier stuff. It does look like a bit of a Frankenstein- I really suspect Miyazaki was thrown in after Bloodborne (Or when BB was nearing completion).

What exactly series highs did Bloodborne have? You know what, dont awnser that, cant go through this again, to each its own

Is this another one of those "Bloodborne isn't a Souls game" type replies, or do you just feel that it didn't bring anything exceptionally new to the table?
Personally, I enjoyed the way the combat felt, but I can't say that I think said combat is better than any of the games that came before it. It was also basically "melee Souls" and nothing else.

I'd place them like this so far:

Demon's Souls > Dark Souls 1 > Dark Souls 3 (prob 1/2 way through so far) > Dark Souls 2 = Bloodborne

Dark Souls 3 could even equal DS1 for me if it keeps up/gets better.

Goddamit! A friend told me about this.. but I thought it was just to piss me off. Out of curiosity... Was there
a summon sign outside the new Gundyr for the guy with the uchigatana from the beginning of the game? That's how my friend spoiled it for me... If it would be correct the lore implications are quite interesting.

The second part. It very much is a Souls game, just dont a particulary inspired one. Keep in mind I played through on release when the boss bug wqs present so half the bosses didnt have most of their attacks. Is it unfair to knock it down for that? Probably, but it was my experience with it. Im also a shield fanboy, and that of course has no shields. I think it lacked build and class variety, and the victorian horror theme didnt do as much for me as I thought it would. I also hated the chalice dungeons but I don't knock the game for it, I feel that it didnt detract from the main game. Which was a bit short since we are stating reasons for me to put it bellow the others.

But im one of those crazies that loves DS2 so im sure my opinion is irrelevant for 95% of Gaf :)

PS: keep in mind we are splitting hairs over games I love. Comparing Souls games is like comparing icecream, at the end of the day its still all delicious.

I would find that hard to believe, considering Ds3 itself is taking some notes from Bloodborne.

If you're talking level design, that's not new. If you're talking speed, that's not new either aside from Bloodborne dethroning Demon's as the fastest. Trick weapons? There were only a select few worth caring about in the vanilla Bloodborne, and it didn't even feel like a complete game until the expansion arrived. Also, a lot of weapons were simply just better stuck in their two-handed form the majority of the time anyway.

But im one of those crazies that loves DS2 so im sure my opinion is irrelevant for 95% of Gaf :)

I was disappointed, but overall really enjoyed it as well. I also think it's better than Bloodborne overall, even though Bloodborne does a few things way better.

Get out of my mind sanctuary, its not healthy in there

Asked in the other thread, but didn't get a response.

I'm about 6 bosses in, and so far I've seen a lot of bonfires, and not many shortcuts. Individual areas are still sprawling and fairly well designed, but I'm aching for that interconnected metroidvania feeling, or at least some more shortcut porn. Does it get better in that regard?

Only fought about 4 bosses passed
firelink shrine
and virtually every one of them had a short cut to open up.

To each their own, heh. I never could quite understand the love for Dark Souls 2 - I thought maybe it was a first time love thing (love the first Souls you play) but I played Demon's Souls after DS and DS2 yet I still thought it was amazing. Same with Bloodborne.

So I just beat the 4th boss,
Crystal Sage. She was fairly easy, got her on my 3rd try. 1st was really close, but on my 2nd I shit the bed and died barely doing any damage to her.

Question about where to progress next:
After defeating Crystal Sage I went past the boss area and ended up in a church. I climbed up and entered what looked like a graveyard with a ton of skeletons. The other area I haven't explored is back on the other side of the Road of Sacrifice--I can't remember the name of the place, but it was very dark, with water/swamp (had some weird looking enemies in the water), or something like that? Which area is more difficult? I know that is all relative, but I think I'd rather hit up the less frustrating area first...

Anyone else who found the boss P
ontiff
S
ulyvahn
to be the first big difficulty spike in the game? The guy attacks like a maniac, and you have to dodgeroll the battery of attacks if you want any stamina left to actually hit him. Additionally, there are no pauses in his pattern, so estus healing is very difficult.

This doesn't inspire confidence.
It's literally the only reason I haven't finished datk souls 1 yet.

Nah dude I have no idea, just thought it was funny. Reminded me of the Vinny gif

Anyone know why I can't see Heavy Gem as an option when I go to infuse my weapon? I see other options and I have a gem. Do I need a coal for it?

I was very disappointed with the
catacombs
because it was a recycled
chalice dungeon
for the most part, but next area looks incredible!

google app says it's called:
Irushiru of cold vally

So the ending I got was called
"The End of Fire," and involved the Firekeeper and I extinguishing the first flame. The light disappears from the screen and she voices her belief that one day new flames will emerge from the darkness.

I don't know if this was a known ending already, but there it is. Still have no idea what triggers the
"Usurper" ending, as I thought that was what this one was going to be.

You know Rhaknar, the catacombs really are the death of me. I know lost Izalith is supposed to be hell, but that gif is what real hell looks like.

Anor Londo was actually mine. Those archers and then O&S actually broke me. I would have quit the game if I hadnt found out about summoning. Since then the series has probably become my favorite series atm (I wont say ever because even at 4 games its still an infant), but that moment, I never felt such frustration with a videogame. Nothing in DS2 or BB came close, which is normal of course since now Im at least used to the games.

Yes.

Where it is:
In the swamp area, entering from the high up bonfire, keep to the right wall, drop down a couple platforms, continue along the right wall (kill the enemies or run past them), enter the door, in this long corridor, go to the end, past a black knight (possible to skip by dropping down behind him), to get the coal
