Batman v. Superman RT Thread: like standing ovations in rain

Loved Ben in this movie. There are problems I have with the Batman character, but if they're swept under the rug in say, a solo Batman movie? Best Batman ever.

Yah, but its like winning a battle yet losing the war kind of thing. He did well but on the larger scale it did little with the overall result.

Sucks especially seeing how Ryan Reynolds who has kind of a similar career pattern with him, managed to create a major hit of his own just very recently.

Hard to believe MCU doesn't have a single movie that's rated rotten on RT. Meanwhile, DCCU is 2 for 2, and starting to film their Avengers-style movie with the person responsible for both.

With some exceptions, they're like Rihanna albums. Safe, algorithm-driven, relatively devoid of ambition, and safe.

I think Age of Ultron is a safe movie for sure, but it's successful in achieving what it needed to, whereas this movie royally f'ed it up.
 
Re-watching The Incredible Hulk right now (RT 67%) - Chase sequence is legit great. So sad Tim Roth and William Hurt never re-appeared in the MCU.

Or something happens at the start of Justice League
like Batman straight up murdering a big bad(maybe Lex even), and we get a scene of Flash going back to Batman's early days and warning Bruce about becoming a psycho killer.
Flash returns to the future, and Batman now has a dark blue cape/cowl for Justice League to represent the change in time.
 
So I see a few reviewers mocking the whole "if there's even a 1% chance he is our enemy, we have to treat it as an absolute certainty" with stuff like "why Bruce Wayne no do math?" It's actually kind of irritating.

The line is actually pretty great. It all comes back to expected value. If you can play a slot machine that 99% of the time will pay out $10, but 1% of the time will cause you to owe a billion dollars, would you ever touch that machine? Of course not. That's the whole idea here. A 1% chance of world devastation = something you throw all your resources into stopping.

If reviewers can't handle such a basic Econ 101 concept, how can they be trusted to handle anything else?

I was more saying that he could just
stop killing. Make it because of Superman's sacrifice snapping him back to his old ways if you need a plot reason.

Just because you like a movie doesn't mean the entire film review community is wrong and you are right.

You're in the 30-50% or so that liked a divisive and ultimately critically (by audience and reviewer standpoints) mediocre film. Great.

You don't need to continue to shit all over the film review community because you did and they didn't.

I liked that line myself. Seemed very Bruce like in terms of not trusting anyone.

Pretty sure Affleck already won with his critically acclaimed directing career. He has free reign to do whatever he wants in Hollywood now.

Lol. I agree with you. In fact I can't wait for the bluray to come out so I can make my own cut. I have a vision on how it can be like.

The man has complete carte blanche in the industry.

Oh yah, he's making his own solo batman film right?

It'll be funny and sad at the same time if his film turns out to be the only saving grace of the entire DCCU.

My "vision" would be an hour and a half tops. There's so much extraneous shit in this movie which just doesn't need to be there to tell the story they ended up telling.

And to be honest, most people are saying Affleck is one of the main pluspoints in this film, which makes me still want to see it actually. I love Batman, I like Affleck and I like Snyder action, so I have that to look forward to.

Hours of Fire Emblem experience taught me to not trust an even %1 chance lol. I'm with Bruce on this one.

Literally every scene with Batman/Bruce Wayne is near perfection(opinion of brutality aside).
Worth seeing for that alone.
 
No way I'll pay theatre tickets for this I'll just watch it at home like I did superman while cleaning house.

I think most people will do that and this thing will fall off quick

I think that R-rated home video version has a lot of story that they needed cut so it wasn't a 3.5 hour movie in theatres
 
I've already posted my review in a few threads, fwiw there was a lot more laughs and clapping than I remember from when I watched MoS, but it could be because I watched BvS opening night.

I hope it hits WB's expectations.
