Captain America: Civil War - Final Trailer

I understand why they don't put "Captain America" on the poster, but why put "The First Avenger"? Like, that was the subtitle for the first one.

Marvel's The First Avenger
Marvel's The Winter Soldier
Marvel's Civil War

Huh. I actually really like that.

For reasons beyond my understanding they sometimes rename movies in Germany. Which would be totally fine if they translate it to something in German. But often they just change it to something different in English.
In this case the movies are called

Captain America - the first Avenger
The return of the first Avenger (no Winter Soldier at all in the title)
And now
The first Avenger - Civil War

I'm pretty sure the first Captain America were just titled "The First Avenger" in Germany, having completely removed "Captain America" from the title.

The First Avenger
The Return of the First Avenger
The First Avenger: Civil War

What a mess.

For comparison, I don't think AoU ever get positive testing news.
Winter Soldier did though.
I don't recall testing impressions for AoU before release. Whedon talked about how the alternate Thor pool scene where he's possessed tested poorly though.

Yeah, reshoots are really not that uncommon and Marvel always builds a couple weeks of reshoots into their schedule right from the start.

That's one of those things I do dislike about the marvel ensemble films, you can tell which shots were obviously done just for trailer's sake. Like the AoU synced jump, or Avenger's jackasses standing on a circle.

I at least liked the Avengers one.

I mean, what else are they gonna say, ya know? Even so, after Sebastion's video:
HYYYYYPE!

For real. This movie is gonna slay. It's gotta. 90+% RT, 80+ MC, $250M OW, 10 oscars, cultural landmark induction by the Smithsonian, it's all gonna happen

On the other hand you get Batman V Superman where the entire film is made to produce cool shots for trailers and TV spots.

what if this movie pulls a Force Awakens with Spiderman

cut to exterior shot of a tall and imposing building in Manhattan.

Peter Parker walks up the stairs after entering the building.

montage of climbing stairs and entering rooftop

cut to a lone figure watching the city

The lone figure turns around as he hears steps behind him.

The figure takes off his hood - it's an awed Andrew Garfield.

Peter takes an item out of his bag - a web shooter - and offers this to Andrew Garfield.

Cue helicopter shot and wipe.

DIRECTED BY JOE AND ANTHONY RUSSO.

The whole airport fight should have been set in a jungle. Imagine Black Panther going wild, and Iron Man shooting down trees, Hawkeye climbing them to take shots and Spider-Man swinging from tree to tree with his webbing.

Yeah, my hope about the airport fight is that it's not the big fight in the movie, and that hopefully Marvel had stuff back from the trailer. I'd love to be surprised.

I bet the airport fight is halfway through the film. They're probably just hyping it up as the Big Battle because it's hero vs hero in a movie called Civil War. The fights interspersed throughout the movie and maybe the final battle will be better.

I don't know why people have problem with the airport. They are trying to tell a more personal, emotional and grounded story. Would you guys rather have a contrived in your face plot where the heroes magically end up in an "uninhabited part" of a city so you get your fill of destruction porn?

The airport fight is probably the big initial skirmish, but it's definitely not the climax. War machine needs to be taken down, plus the winter solder + cap vs iron man battle

Early reviews just watch it and not think about anything to come off as positive as possible.

Later reviews are people trying to nit pick everything to come off as negative as possible.

I just watch movies and either I enjoyed it or I didn't and never think about why so to me it doesn't matter how well or poor they review.

I enjoyed BvS why, I don't know and don't care. All I know is I thought it was cool, I'm too lazy to read reviews to see why they are positive or negative.

Would be funny if that whole scene was just a training exercise and that's how everyone knows to be there in their uniform.
And the final battle is really Thanos coming to get the Soul Gem from Vision.

Has any Marvel trailer spoiled the climax? The only one that comes to mind is Thor 2, perhaps? That's why I think the airport battle is actually a small skirmish, because Marvel doesn't have a history of spoiling the good parts.

Yes, that is exactly what we want. Why can't a portal open under their feet and transport them to the phantom zone, or maybe the moon like Superman 4.

We only wanth exthplothionths and thethstructhion!

They haven't showed Zemo at all and Daniel Bruhl is listed in a starring role on the posters. They're definitely hiding him entirely in the trailers...which is great.

Bucky and Cap on the bridge of the Helicarrier from the climax of Winter Soldier and various shots from the New York fight for Avengers 1 were both in trailers and tv spots.

IIRC trailers for the original Avengers consisted largely of stuff taken from the third act.

"No mask" confirmed by Brühl though, so whatever :p

Age of Ultron did. If you watched all the trailers, you pretty much watched a coles note of the entire movie.

What movie hasn't had reshoots? Like literally every movie you've ever watch has had reshoots.
The only reshoots that make me a bit nervous are those that cast a new actor for a role (Star Trek Beyond) or those that come accompanied by a story that a studio has taken over production and is in charge of the reshoots (F4).

There is something bigger at play than the two sides simply fighting. You have the guy who tried to control the Hulk suddenly trying to impose sanctions/control on the Avengers, and Baron Zemo who has been nowhere to be seen as of yet. There's very little chance the airport scene is proper 3rd act stuff. That to me, from everything we've seen, seems to be a reluctant 'I suppose, if we have to' fight.

'Underoos', Natasha/Clint banter, & Spiderman still being definitively on Tony's side (whatever Marvel change from the comics, I'm confident that's a point they'll keep. Also, Tony being "Hey guys, we're just trying to help" vs. 'The whole world was wrong about you'/viciously backhanding Steve in that other location with the guy in the weird tube.

And yes, it is a bit of a bland setting for a fight, not like New York at all. It's almost like they've deliberately, mutually picked a remote spot so no civilians get hurt, because that would just be a massive 'TOLD YOU SO' for Ross.

We're still friends right?

I don't understand the purpose of that entire fight scene.

And isn't that sort of refreshing?
The trailers haven't really spoiled anything!
We know, in general, what Civil War is about, but only from the Comics. Not *this* CW.

I really hope they keep it vague up to the premiere.
