Batman v Superman Spoiler Thread: Don't believe everything you read, Son

Just saw it today. What a depressing piece of junk. So many plot holes in this movie I don't even know where to start.

Why isn't Lois allowed in the senate hearing and solodad obrian is allowed to conduct red carpet interviews?

Because fuck the press. That's why. Also, she'd probably be seen as pro-superman biased, which is true.

Why doesn't anyone care about a crazy batman vigilante in a city that appears to be across the harbor from metropolis?

Batman appears to have been operating as a myth/legend/vigilante for the last 20 years. He doesn't work with the cops directly so his appearances and involvements have become a sort of normality over that time frame with limited information to go on. Supes didn't even know who Bruce Wayne was. Also, Batman doesn't blow up buildings and invite intergalactic archnemeses over to play when he wants to revisit family history.

Why did superman allow that alien spaceship full of dangerous tech to remain in metropolis for anyone to salvage?

I mean, he could have taken it with him, but seeing as he has to regularly move the fortress of solitude to avoid detection, it would take a hell of a lot of effort to move all those remaining ship parts. Also, the army probably had a faster and more immediate recovery effort, because, ya know, Supes had to get over the fact he just killed a dude even though it was the right thing to do.

How in the hell is waynecorp a successful business if the guy running their accounts payable department is completely ignoring returned checks with death threats to Bruce scrawled on them?

Uncashed checks = more cash on hand. Profit.

The checks probably should have been investigated, but the company doesn't do police work. That's, well, police work.

Did they release this movie on Easter weekend so we'd all equate supermans foreshadowed resurrection with Jesus?

Next film in 3 years? Hmmm.

Oh Superman, who art faking death once again,
Fanboyed be thy Name.
Thy Justice League come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in the watchtower.
Give us this weekend our opening box office.
And forgive us our effeminate fanboy fury,
As we forgive the studio and writers for the errors they have committed against us.
And lead us not into multiple dreams sequences,
But deliver us from terrible pacing.
For thine is the multiverse,
The alternate timelines, and the everlasting Franchise,
For ever and ever.
Based Geoff Johns.

If doomsday absorbs energy and grows stronger, why doesn't superman just use his freezing breath on him?

The energy wouldn't dissipate. Its pure energy he's taking in, not heat energy it seems.

Why show darkseids omega symbol in the dream sequence if you're not even going to show him as well?

Foreshadowing with a red herring (Evil Supes)

Why does everyone accept that superman is dead after he's already come back to life once following a nuclear blast?

Had a giant gaping wound in his chest, and people actually saw the body. More convincing than "disappeared for a few hours after sustaining a blast less damaging than stuff he went through last year"

Why the hell did i support this ugly clusterfuck of a movie by paying ten bucks to see it?

Because you chose to see it at night rather than as a matinee. You fool.

omg idk if it's been mentioned (it probably has) but my friend brought to my attention that if those files were on the LexCorp computers that must mean Lex went out of his way to make those logos for the justice league. LMAO.

It's alright, Lois

Half of the audience in my theater asked who the hell Wonder Woman was when she appeared to fight Doomsday.

They knew that she was the hot chick from the parties and the one Bruce sent the files too, but had no idea who her character was, even in full costume. Botched it Snyder.

Overall disappointing movie.

Only reason they knew it was the flash was because Lex likes to create fan art and personas for his metahumans more than Cisco Ramon does. The video folder thumbnail was a dead giveaway.
.

There's so many things I hated about this movie that I don't know where I would even start. Just a few things I wanted to get out:

-Zack Snyder. The man doesn't know what the word subtle means. So many heavy handed shots that made me almost want to gag. It's like every scene had to be iconic for him.
-Lex Luthor. I don't blame Eisenberg because I'm sure he did exactly what he was told, but this was such a fucking stupid version of the character. Lex is awesome when done right.
-Henry Cavill. I want to like him, but there's nothing to like about his Superman. He just looks sad and confused all the time.
-Batman killing people. I'm not opposed to the idea itself, but Zack Snyder did not earn the right to do it at all. Left a bad taste in my mouth.
-Knightmare scene had absolutely zero point in being in the movie as well as being all around terrible. We already know Bruce wanted to take out Superman, why do we need this to hammer it over the head.
-The worst edited movie I've ever scene. So many scenes could have been cut, so many scenes randomly spliced in that completely break whatever flow this movie might have had. Who thought this was good?
-If they want to make a Lois Lane movie, then make a Lois Lane movie. Jesus christ. I get that they want her to be the human aspect of the movie that the audience connects with, but it should have been Batman. Instead he's a complete psychopath and they shove her everywhere. That scene where she throws the spear away and then has to go fucking get it back 10 minutes later? Hilarious.
-Wonder Woman was great, but that scene with her slowly clicking through all the Justice League files was so bad. Not her fault, tho.

I could go on and on but I'm just so disappointed. I really want DC to have this grand cinematic universe because I love their characters so much more than Marvel's, but this movie has completely turned me off from any movies they make from now on. How anyone in the production thought this was good enough to release is beyond me.

Nope. No after credits scene

Should have been Bruce looking at the meta files (the Flash's last) followed by the flash portal scene. Instant realization of who he saw, leading into the recruitment for the justice league (next movie).

Jesus (aka Supes), I wish was the film editor. At least I would have gotten the tie ins correct.

I honestly want to know how everyone figured out that dream was time travel related

Am I just that stupid?

Unless you knew it was the flash that popped out of the portal afterwards, you wouldn't. They played the situation wrong, made the dreams too realistic compared to the actual story arc which was confusing, and relied in the fact that everyone was supposed to know the flash could do more than run fast like Sanic.

Someone posted earlier that people realized it was the flash when the surveillance footage was shown on the screen with his logo, but didn't realize they had seen him earlier in that strange portal sequence. Should tell you about the general breakdown of audiences going into the movie.

Just watched the movie and I loved it.

One of the best scenes I found in the film that I found to be jaw dropping if only just for the cinematography and backdrop, was the dream where Batman woke up in a desolate world where Superman ruled (with the big ass omega symbol on the ground) and flying demons. That was amazing and surprised me.

At first I didn't get what it was until Bruce woke up. But I still don't get the relevance of it? Also maybe it went by quick and I didn't catch it, but I don't remember the Flash dream sequence? My memory is a bit foggy; can someone explain that part to me? Thank you in advance.

Other than that, I really enjoyed the soundtrack and cinematography and action. Top stuff. Character development could have done a bit more work, but eh, it's a Zack Snyder film and it delivered on what I was expecting.

I'm sick of being down on this so I'm gonna try and find some positives

I really loved the Batman suit and I'm sad we didn't get to see more of it in all its glory.

Also one of the scenes right near the end where you see Batman fire a shot at Doomsday while WW holds him and Superman drives into him was great and the thought of more of that is the only thing that has me excited for JL at the moment

the flash bits were real bad and i hope his show doesn't suffer for this

aquaman started off terribly, but his quick zoom away through the water was dope af

cyborg is who?

at least wonder woman was terrific - here's hoping her movie is good

Thats just stupid in this movie though, because there is no Flash in this universe yet.

There is, but he just isn't an established hero yet. He can time travel, which is relevant to how he appeared, but they didn't introduce or feature him like they did Batman or Wonder Woman so audiences who didn't know much about him were like "..... wtf?"

Alfred was pretty great. I liked that part where Bats is punching Supes and he starts getting stronger.

That's all I got.

1. Flash TV is fucking choice. Its totally safe from the movie backlash. Only problem with his part in the movie was the portal scene, which was misplaced with no context as to the reason it happened (unless you know actual comic book story arcs) and the lack of character introduction. You can take it as a mysterious warning for future movies, but thats pretty shallow as is.

2. They lingered on aquaman too much. Probably just to show him off. Not really leaving much to the imagination, but damn that boy got boosties.

3. Vic "Victory" Stone. Son of Researcher Silas Stone. They didn't show how he lost like 80% of his body, but they showed a motherbox, which is how he transforms into cyborg and is also the CORRECT way to sneak in a future movie tie in.

4. Wonder Woman. God Damn. When she stepped into battle and her theme hit I was like "Oh shit. She's about to go in." Chick is a warrior and even cracked a battle smile when Doomsday was putting in work against her.

DC, for heavens sake do not fuck up the WW or Flash standalones.

Caught a showing earlier today. It was...okay? The movie is just all over the place. The best parts of it were the ones involving batman/bruce. The intro was really well done. As for the dream sequences, the one with the mantis people followed by the flash's time rip message was just so out there. I was surprised they went with Sups actually dying at the end. I was gonna lose my shit if they actually showed him bursting through that coffin, lol.

She saw that monster on the plane tv screen and was like "Hol' up, hol' up, hol' up, I gotta put my trip to the bahamas on hold. Its slaying time." And boy did bae slayyyyy...........

I remember watching the bats lift little bruce into the sky, sitting there for a second like
"Holy shit, this can't be real!" lmao.

Thank god that was just a dream.

Btw why was WW in a plane if she can fly? It's not like she was traveling with someone. Could have sworn she flew in the Doomsday fight.

I feel if this movie was a comic book series were...

a) there were issues before it

b) there were other comic saga entwined with it were you'd read those story arcs converge with this one

then it would be easier to digest then it being a crammed up film with so many lose ends

Even Khal Drogo can't make Aquaman look cool. Was I the only one like "what the fuck" at the Cyborg reveal?

Yeah, his origin is not pretty, but its roughly accurate as depicted. Dude is basically Jake Gyllenhaal in Source Code.

Aquaman lingered, but I've never seen anyone move that fast underwater in a movie before so...... that's some kind of improvement.

I'm not familiar with either the DC comics or the characters, so I was super confused. All I got out of that scene was a reminder that there's another movie coming soon. No idea who he was, what he was saying, how it connected to the story. Seemed to come and go, only to be something that will be referenced in another film.

Shout out to Batman for giving Supes the Bowser treatment from Mario 64.

Did anyone else notice batman giving one of the armed warehouse thugs a Rock Bottom from hell? I was like OH SHIT.

You just proved what I was saying earlier correct. For a movie marketed towards a more general audience, they put too many DC lore specific easter eggs in the film to the point were a lot of stuff doesn't make sense. No average movie goer is going to read up on every justice league member and their storyarcs before hand so one of those arcs prove potentially relevant (just in case).

"Martha"

"What did you say"

"Martha"

"Our mother's had the same first name. My god I can't kill you now"

God fucking dammit this movie had so much dumb bullshit.

Several people at my showing snickered at that part. The entire theater was exhausted and just "meh" overall at the end of the movie.

I just came back from seeing it.

Good lord, it's true, all of it. I REALLY tried to like this movie, I hung on to the good parts (Batffleck, WW, the first 20 minutes), but everything is just so disjointed, pointless at the end. Nobody reacted to the
death of Superman at the end
, nobody gave a shit. In part because
we all knew he's doing more movies
and because we barely know the character, even after two movies now.

Unbelievable.

First up, nuke this monster
Second, get a tan

The most heroic part of the movie.

And one of the few moments that felt like a triumph.

It just felt FUN. Like the second she drops in everything instantly becomes more interesting.

Dude was straight slaughtering them

Still not quite as psychotic as Arkham Batman who routinely breaks every single bone of your body.

I guess Cyborg's movie is going to be grim dark as fuck too then. This is what I get for only knowing him from Teen Titans.
At least Snyder is shipping Batman and Wonder Woman rather than Superman and Wonder Woman.
Something tells me Batfleck doesn't sink his own romance ships like Animated Universe Batman.

My read:

It was flawed. I didn't hate it. The reception from the critics seems harsh to me.

Batman and everything connected to him was great. Affleck is the best adaption of the character.

All connection to first film: Flashback to Metropolis, Zod, Ship, etc were neat and cool.

Felt bad for Supes and we were meant to. So that worked. The Doomsday ending was a misstep.

The vs was good. As was the build up to it.

Lex was a surprise. Not what I wanted but it worked. And Eisenberg played this version as well as it could be played.

The plot is less disjointed than I was led to believe.

Didn't need the flashbacks to things that happened earlier in the film.

Felt real bad for Supe. Did I mention?

Real world logic on demigods is a bitch but it was quite refreshing to see it handled in such real world ways. Hearings, debates, etc.

Seems very unfair that this film has been so crucified.

Felt like a sequel to the first film with Batman, Wonder Woman and Lex. *shrugs*

There is clearly two films worth of story here and League stuff was hammered in. The clips of the leaguers were stupid but the Bruce meta-human discovery up to the logos/clipart was - if not elegant - unobtrusive.

Also the Knightmare did nothing but add time on the clock and look visually different.

Bring on the next one.

I can see how SS with fit into this now. With Supes 'death' they will be desperate and made the Squad necessary. That Batman with that Joker !! My god!
