I feel like we saw different movies. The motivation for the big fight was "But Superman is super strong and I had a bad dream where he ruled the world."
Why did Superman leave that downed Kryptonian ship in the center of the city for 18 months? Why didn't he just throw the damn thing into the sun?
During one of Bruce Wayne's dreams, The Flash (played by Ezra Miller) will appear and deliver a "cryptic message" to the Dark Knight. As Snyder notes, "We had such a straightforward narrative, on one hand, I wanted this other layer of the movie to be complicated and bizarre."
To Batman, even if Superman is good now... doesn't mean he will always be good. To him it's very likely that Superman is one bad day away from killing millions. And he doesn't want to take that chance.
I never even thought of that. How can Superman hear Lois from the other side of the globe but not hear his mom get kidnapped?
Fairly sure there was a tracking device on LoisHow can Superman hear Lois from the other side of the globe but not hear his mom get kidnapped?
That's pretty much what he says in his conversation with Alfred...You know, if this movie was better written, this would be brought up in some way. Batman would acknowledge that he is going to kill superman for the danger he poses alone.
I mean, he does, but he says it with hated. He's angry and vicious that superman exists. He can say that he's doing it because of the danger superman poses, but the way he actually acts when he fights superman, prolonging the fight unnecessarily just to hurt and humiliate him as much as possible works against that statement. That's pretty much what he says in his conversation with Alfred...
I kinda was lolWas anyone else waiting for Lex and the Senator to start fucking when they were getting cozy in his study?
I liked it. Jesse Eisenberg stole the show for me. Really liked that lex Luther.
When she says "You can call me whatever you want" I was like "Wow, this isnt where I expected this to go."Was anyone else waiting for Lex and the Senator to start fucking when they were getting cozy in his study?
Is anyone asking why they didn't write it so that Lois could just pass the spear to Wonder Woman instead of letting Superman make himself sick with it? I kinda feel like he died for nothing when he had an equal on his side that could have been just as effective with it.
I guess we really needed to see the Lasso.
lol. the film making crew for this movie hasn't a single person with common sense/logic. it works like this:
guys, we need to have a cool fight scene at the shipyard - ok so we have them transport the kryptonite by ship. perfect. done.
sensible person on the team would say: but luthor has choppers, they wouldn't use ships. let's rework.
guys, we need to have superman sacrifice himself in the end - ok so he will stab doomsday at close, he will be weakened by kryptonite and doomsday will stab him. perfect. done.
sensible person on the team would say: but wonder woman is much more adept with a weapon, supes and bat can simply get the spear to her, supes wouldn't risk being weakened by the kryptonite and failing the job. let's rework.
guys, we need to xxxxx - ok so yyyyy.
they are such shitty writers. they're already paid millions of dollars they don't have to work for it. so we get half assed writing.
I had to stop myself from laughing hysterically at that part. Coming after the Knightmare dream sequence was off putting, but I got what they were trying to do since both scenes mention the importance of Lois, one of the only times they bother to have a narrative thread loosely tying together 2 seemingly disconnected scenes. The way it suddenly cuts back to Bruce to this weird guy sticking out of the wall was so bizzare that the way he says he is too soon with zero context was like he was breaking the fourth wall referencing that he was appearing in the franchise too soon.I am reading this interview of Zack Snyder and I just shook my head at it...

He shaves but it grows back too fast BOOM THAT'S COMEDY FOLKSWhy does Flash have a mustache?
#notmyflashI had no idea it was even Flash since he looked nothing like the Flash I know.

I'll go kill myself now
This high comedy. HIGH!He shaves but it grows back too fast BOOM THAT'S COMEDY FOLKS
Because time travel is one of the worst concepts in fiction and this gives them something of an out.
Although everything Flash told him was completely meaningless in this film, given Lois had no use in the film.
Agreed. The film's first moments show promise that it could happen, but basically after the first 20 minutes the movie loses focus on the one interesting potential plot and becomes a hodge podge of nonsense.I think there is a place for a dark, moody super hero movie that takes itself seriously and isn't light hearted. And the moment someone makes a good one, I'll let you guys know.
Am I crazy? I thought the movie was quite good! I'm a diehard comic fan.
This gets 30% and Furious 7 gets great reviews? Am I in bizarro world?
They even could've put this stuff at the end or in a post credit sequence and it would've functioned as a good way to keep us interested in the series instead of smack dab in the middle of this dumb slug festThat's because the Flash warning had nothing to do with this film.
It's setting up a plot for a later movie.
That isn't to say it's a good idea, just that it'll make sense in a few years time when the Justice League movies are all out.

How can Superman hear Lois from the other side of the globe but not hear his mom get kidnapped?
Hell no.
As much hate you can place on the movie... the dream was not the main reason why Batman was motivated to take on Superman.
The plans to steal the Kryptonite to take on Superman were WELL IN MOTION before that dream even took place.
Batman wanted to take out Superman because Superman wiped out a damn near city by just fighting. Batman has gone through 20 years of Gotham where good guys kept turning bad (like say Two Face). Coupled that with the loss of his employees at the hands of Superman and the Senate bombing in which Superman was presumably involved (from his eyes) and with Luthor egging him on with the mailed messages ("you failed your family" works on multiple angles for Batman)... Batman was more than ready to take on Superman well before that Knightmare sequence came into play.
To Batman, even if Superman is good now... doesn't mean he will always be good. To him it's very likely that Superman is one bad day away from killing millions. And he doesn't want to take that chance.
There was an entire dialogue with Alfred where he goes over why he wants to do this just so the average movie goer is able to pick it up in big bold letters. That's why the nightmare sequence could've been taken out entirely... Batman was already well on his way to take on Superman by then.
Again, Lex knew how to hide things from Superman, he was analizing everything Kriptonian related for 18 months, Superman could not hear a bomb with enough power to completly destroy capitol building, Batman in the other hand was an expert in his own city on how to locate anything, Superman knew he had a better chance than him and on the same time Realized that he alone could not do everything.
20 years in Gotham, how many good remain, how many stayed that waythis is absolute shit. lazy writing to give batman some kind of motivation to go vs superman. worlds greatest detective doesn't know superman actually saved the planet? lol. would have been a much better movie if they paired them right from the start. watch the animated vs. movies to see what I mean.
batman is a detective. not a psychiatrist. did we even see the same movie?this is absolute shit. lazy writing to give batman some kind of motivation to go vs superman. worlds greatest detective doesn't know superman actually saved the planet? lol. would have been a much better movie if they paired them right from the start. watch the animated vs. movies to see what I mean.
Martha is important to him, but his "world" is Lois. Call that shit writing if you want, but I liked it. They reinforace it like 3 times in the movie. That doesn't explain why Superman didn't hear the actual off-the-street kidnapping of his mother.
That doesn't explain why Superman didn't hear the actual off-the-street kidnapping of his mother.
No matter what writing they have to put Superman against Batman is going to filled with lazy/bad writing. These two characters fighting goes against their character.this is absolute shit. lazy writing to give batman some kind of motivation to go vs superman. worlds greatest detective doesn't know superman actually saved the planet? lol. would have been a much better movie if they paired them right from the start. watch the animated vs. movies to see what I mean.
You'd think that 18 months of nothing cataclysmic happening would temper Bruce's anger at Superman.
How about get to know the guy behind the cape in that year and a half, instead of waking up angry and yelling at Alfred. Batman's dumb.
On a brighter note, I thought the opening Metropolis scene was incredible, sans the random horse.
