SFV: Alex Release Trailer

It'd be nice to see reveal trailers on the level of SSFIV's. Despite sucking at IV, I went out and bought Super on the strength of the trailers for Hakan and the SFIII characters alone.

Did Alex received a trailer before this one when he was announced?

If not I think is because other companies releasing other FG make the reveal of their DLC characters like mini-events with trailers to get people hyped and ready to spend their coins in them (or the season pass)
Yea...still that's just saying we prefer how other game do things. Nothing is "late" about this trailer. I would argue it'll get people to pick up the game quickly advertising something that is available now. And these trailers will be used in upcoming Capcom cup events all the same?

Just saying I think it's just becoming the cool thing to rip Capcom because some stuff doesn't make any sense. Garret's vid is better? This is late? Some person even comparing Garret made by one person in a day when we don't know who made this at Capcom? I Dunno, seems the hate is being exegerrated by whatever, Alex looks pretty fun.

Interesting remix.

Not bad. Lots more bass, which I like. Tempo is a bit too fast for me, though. The music for this game has been strong.

Is there an official soundtrack out?

Sort of? I think you got the soundtrack if you bought the physical collector's edition of the game. However, Alex's theme was only put in on monday with the patch, so no one had this track prior to monday. We had to pull it from the game's files. I am SUPREMELY interested in what they'll be doing to Guile's theme in 2016 LOL. And to be fair - I think they've done a great job on updated classic themes so far.

Well...yeah, he was following the template Capcom has done for every reveal. Garrett did an amazing job replicating what Capcom has done before. That was the point.

Think I'm out of these threads. People are complaining just to complain at this point.

Seriously, I agree. It's amazing what people tell themselves. A trailer made by Capcom follows the same beats as every other Capcom trailer for the game. How surprising!

yep

Lol it's practically the same as the fan trailer made by gaffer.

Like, practically. Like they looked at it and just took it.
Because Garret uses the template from previous trailers?

Ok...guys, I hope some of you step back and see how the replies look as a whole. This is getting ridiculous lol. I love to complain sometimes too, but sheesh lol.

They certainly don't have the budget for CG trailers like the SF3 characters SSF4 trailer.

I find it odd people are giving Capcom shit because someone hacked the game and made a trailer one day before Capcom released their trailer.

Chances are, no matter what Capcom would have put out at this point, you would not have liked it, but not because what it contained, but because SF-OT is soured by Capcom by now, regarding this Alex trailer.

Can you point out where I said it was a bad trailer and I didn't like it? I said it comes with minimal hype (because they missed two huge chances to debut it) and I think the fanmade one was better. No where did I say the actual trailer was bad. I just liked the other better and I explained why later.

I would also argue that SF threads are soured by Capcom period. Not just this trailer.

We are all still playing the game (because the Core game is so great) but the level of defense for Capcom is astounding when they don't really deserve it.

Like, good on Garret for getting it out because he could mine the resources...but you guys are hilarious. Like that's supposed to shame the people making the game.

I got it digitally on PS4. Was hoping for some iTunes/Amazon mp3 version.

But I do wonder if I should wait until all the characters and stages are out for the complete soundtrack.

Yoooo he looks great. I've been avoiding the spoilers until now but I couldn't resist anymore! :p

1 hour and a half till we get Alex, boyz!

If you researched, you wouldn't be making an ignorant statement.

What's original about using a song created 15 years ago?

You're both missing the point so let me elaborate. I've heard his official theme(its even posted in this thread). 15 seconds into the theme it goes into the same style of sound that all of the SF4 and SF5 themes have been. I'm not saying I want a 15 year old song back. I'm saying that older SF games used to make the soundtracks more varied, using more instruments instead of relying on one type of sound so that everything meshes together and is sometimes a bit forgettable.

That is my problem. Think about how many SF4 themes sounded so similar due to instruments and style used. The same thing is happening with SF5. It's sad because when you listen to the beginning of a theme, it's like the composer thinks about changing it up, then each song goes back to that safe style they are familiar with.

Just to stick up for Garrer here before I go. He is a cool gaffer and would be humble about this situation and not try to take credit for some amazing trailer he made but explain the assets he used. He's done great work and is pretty technical, but he clearly tells us he is tinkering files in the game and modding. I'm glad he's getting all the views and hits and hope he continues as being one of the best mods for the SFV community. All that butt slap hot Ryu stuff is him as well.

I hope guys just start playing the game, but yeah it's going to take months and months of free content to reverse the negativity of this game it seems. Capcom relaunch season 2 so the game gets rescored every year.

I think Capcom's trailer is way better because Capcom logo, ESRB Rating, PS logo, and Available Now/#RiseUp are included in the trailer. So it's clearly superior trailer.

They're pretty similar aside from the different music. Garrett goes for that perfect KO, though.

Wow.

First time seeing Garrett's trailer and that hyped me up for Alex more than anything else has. It has the nostalgia mixed in with the newness of today's Alex. This trailer though, it just felt like different music mixed in with Alex doing some stuff. That's really been my whole problem with a lot of these trailers though. A lot of them don't have that nostalgia factor going unless the character's doing all of their old stuff. It's nice and all but you get a fan trailer that has the music, some dope combos and stuff that's in sync with the music too? Man that's great.

That gaffer failed to showcase one of his specials and the parry mechanic though.

That's what I'm saying. Nothing against Garrett, he did his thing and that's cool but I can't imagine how his was better than this other than people maybe liking the music better? In terms of actually showcasing what Alex can do, though, this was clearly better and that is the point of a trailer.

Without taking anything away from Garrett's trailer (which was really well done) this is still a better trailer in line with the previous ones they've made. The only negative is that they didn't reveal it sooner alongside the screens but I'm not even sure I'd call that a "negative". I guess they wanted this for launch day.

I highly doubt that they made this as a response to the fact that a fan beat them to the punch.

This whole launch period just seems like this was super rushed.

  • Decrepit Prologue Story Mode
  • No Arcade Mode
  • No Versus CPU in 2/3
  • Still no DLC store
  • Finally fixed Chun P2 boob physics, but the fix was pretty halfassed
  • 3 betas and matchmaking still takes too long. Pokken, in comparison takes seconds.
  • Still no daily challenges
  • Horrible Survival Mode as the only way to earn colors without paying
I love the game, which I why I give it shit. Capcom did a massive disservice to it.

I'm in the same boat as you, for as much crap as people give this game....it's been my favorite game to play on PS4 this whole generation. Yes there is a lot of room for improvement, but Capcom has let everyone know from the beginning this is a service that will be improved upon. This game will be a complete package by mid 2015 and have most if not all the kinks worked out.

I believe most will forget the troubled start this game has had and will just enjoy it for years to come. I'm just glad Capcom even made this game with Sony's help, I'm enjoying this much more than SFIV and I loved that game.

What a silly argument , that was how people where unlocking colors/extra in fightings games before dlc existed.

You gave it shit because you want to
