I went and generally the show didn't do a lot for me, since I'm not super interested in the game. The presentation was good, the hosts were doing their best, and I think fans who have been waiting so long will be really happy with all of the ancillary content. I'm a little embarrassed at how excited people in the audience were to see the stupid transforming car. Has it really come to this, people? The other lowlight was the Audi product placement. The hosts hated it, the audience hated it, and... the fucking car wasn't even there? What's the point? On the other hand, the combat looked much more fluid, and the Amano art was really beautiful on the big screen and outside on the big banner. Also the dialogue looked a little less nonsense than previous times, except for the headers on the final trailer.

But I have to say... I've seen or met a lot of famous and notable people in California, politics, writers, people from the entertainment industry, celebrities, and I don't think I've ever been as starstruck as I was to sit 20 feet from Sakaguchi. Wow. A real legend.

That was fucking great. In hindsight, Kinda Funny actually did a pretty good job. Everything that I wanted. Awesome. :D

Yeah. I thought Tim and Greg were great.

For all the cringe talk in this thread, the only thing I was cringing at was all the "this isn't Japanese enough" dick measuring going on here. In this thread there were people honestly crapping on "Stand By Me," one of the greatest songs of the 20th Century. THAT, is cringeworthy.

God damn... that's almost a new console. It is too expensive for me, honestly... and to make matters worse, I never order from SE store and they had the nerve to make it exclusive there. It drives me nuts but I'll be happy with my deluxe.

It is expensive but I don't mind when it comes to Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest or Phantasy Star lol.

Like I posted earlier they don't charge till it ships so each cheque I just put a little money on my paypal and by time it's ready I've paid it off plus I don't really buy too many games a year so this is my one splurge item.

Sakaguchi is such a legend, he is easily my favorite creator in the industry he can do no wrong in my books.

Guys, what the hell just happened? I caught the conference up to the Amano part, and then I had to bounce for awhile. Now I come back and THERE IS SO MUCH TO ABSORB.

How are we supposed to be feeling right now? I'm kind of overwhelmed right now.

The game looks good. Can't wait for the Demo.
I don't care that much about anime, movie, big VA, or mobile games.

The length of time really has many crazy for its eventual release. Fans are just rabid animals. I for one admit I devolve into a neanderthal when I get too excited.

I'm more surprised by how much star power they had. Probably the most notable thing in the whole event. The rest was the regular "Hey we are selling you this game's universe many different ways."

Wanted to get the Collector's Edition, but I don't have tat much disposable income. Deluxe Edition looked awesome though, so I already preordered that. Super hyped.

Time to play the demo as well!

I haven't really been into Final Fantasy since Sakaguchi was ousted but this game looks like it might be worth coming back for. The combat has me worried since they've said it's really dumbed down but the environment and story look like the most interesting to explore since FFX. The flying car looks cool but it's no airship, but it is cool seeing FF return to a less linear world with towns and stuff, even if it is more like San Andreas than an entire world.

Back in 2004 I attended the first Dear Friends concert in LA and got to see Sakaguchi, Amano, and Uematsu in person. That was a great time.

Hoping for the japanese version to have english menus and subtitles as I will be there when it is released, please square don't let me down.

Gamestop right now, why

I was all "what am I looking at?" then saw the platforms.

C'mon SE. Just announce it. If you want to be super lame and make the PC version after the consoles because you're scared of pirates or hackers or modders then that is ok. I'm scared of moths. We all have those irrational fears. Just tell us it's coming and when.

Did you use paypal?
Still waiting on mine.

yeah I used paypal as soon as it was posted in here (I had all my shipping info saved)

also the game is no on waiting list. 30k units gone.

edit: actually just the ps4 version is, surprise surprise :P
xbox owners have some time still.

I wonder what the split for ps4 versions vs xbox one is... I can't imagine they split it down the middle. maybe 22.5 vs 7.5 or so?

. I'm a little embarrassed at how excited people in the audience were to see the stupid transforming car. Has it really come to this, people?

Airships are a huge mainstay in the FF universe and had fallen off the map in favor of menu driven navigation for the most part, so people were anticipating something better, classic and modern and they delivered.

The PS4 version seems to be gone. I assumed they would just accept as many pre-orders as they could, for whatever system, and then put them together based on what was ordered.

Ahh. Okay, order still shows as processing through my paypal acc.

I got the Collectors Edition but I don't want the Noctis figure hopefully I can sell it. I really just wanted the artbook but I know someone would've ended up selling it for $150 so I might as well buy the whole package.

that was what I figured too but nope.

either way it means the end of the 30k can't be to far away and it's been 40 minutes.
while I am happy to have gotten one, if I had gone to bed for work like I should have and not watched the stream I wouldn't have.

I really hate the announce a very limited edition and sell it 45 min later thing, it gives people who were busy no chance to get it. My friend is going to go to work tomorrow, learn about this, and already be to late for him to get it even though it will be less than 12 hours later.

Show was OK, mostly just wanton over production to me. The environments trailer was great though and I really like the Amano art. Wish that Sakaguchi and Uematsu at least did a little something for the project besides getting name dropped for credibility, kinda bugged me honestly... Although it is kind of funny that they drug Sakaguchi out there just to essentially shit on XIII.

Just hope the end product is good and I hope they can get the franchise back on track. It'd be nice to start seeing a return to consistent, inspired Final Fantasy games besides the MMOs (although the Heavensward campaign soothed the pain). I miss the regular event this franchise was for me growing up.

When's the last time we had a controllable airship? I don't think people were excited because "omg transformer!" but because the world looks beautiful and we get to explore it from the air in classic FF style.

UK here (yeah, I stayed up for this) and only recently did the Deluxe go up and just now (with a few minutes) has the Ultimate gone up but just Xbone. This sucks.

The transforming car is just something that's hearkening back to having a range of different vehicles, and is a cool, unexpected twist on airship travel. Considering that the world is so big, it's a pretty cool way to bring vehicle travel back in. I was pretty excited to see it.

As for Sakaguchi...I'd love to see him in person. He's one of my favorite creators; his games have shaped my childhood.

Well damn, that was a hell of a stream. Greg and Tim did a really good job, outside of a bit too much cheese at times, and the content was really solid. Way more hyped than I expected to be. I'm digging that Stand by Me cover.

I've preordered the deluxe edition at amazon to definitely keep, and also got the collector's edition for now. Not sure I really want it yet but we'll see. I mostly want the anime and soundtrack sampler with the steelbook they come in.

Eh am I missing something about the deluxe edition being set up on amazon? Or is that already out? I've been refreshing for a while and nothing.
