Uncovered Final Fantasy XV. Conference Live Stream Thread.

Should Kinda Funny host Square Enix's E3?

Results are only viewable after voting.
It is coming though, and i'm going to go ahead and bet that it will come before the PS4K is even released.

Plenty of discussions about the game elsewhere, this thread seems like more about email order confirmations right now.

If PS4K exists and it is a hardware bump, there is absolutely no way a PC version will release before. Why launch multiple times? PC/PS4K?XBonepointfive/NX all at the same time would make more sense...

Good morning GAF...

I still don't have an order confirmation...and I am sad.

I have an order number, and my bank definitely is processing the charge, at least 50 cents of it...just no actual confirmation.

I just watched the stream lol, and I honestly didn't think it was *that* cringe worthy. I mean it could have been much worse. Yeah there were a few awkward jokes that didn't pan out, but isn't that pretty much with every live gaming show? I mean I see a lot of overreactions here.

And FWIW, Greg was hosting not for the hardcore fans, but rather the exact opposite, as someone who hasn't been a big fan of the FF series, in order to try and be drawn in with the game for newcomers as well. IMO he's a good host, and puts a lot of energy into the showings. Didn't think it was as bad as some of the posts here, but perhaps that's just the live reactionary nature of livestreams and GAF lol. I thought the presentation was overall; quite fantastic actually. Better than your average gaming livestream.

I preordered about 10 minutes ago and already got a confirmation. EU FTW

Pre show was so much fun, man. I still hate you btw ;)

Yeah, actual show was the least cringeworthy big video game event I've ever seen.

Obviously speaking as a fan, but from Sakaguchi and Amano appearances, three sweet trailers, new shimomura music, Titan footage, controllable air car, etc, minimal down time between big reveals, I was genuinely impressed with the pace and amount shown.

I thought they did a fantastic job with the show. It was very, very self aware and goofy which is perfect versus what I imagine these type of events being. The "air button" gag was so goofy I couldn't help but smile.

Oh, and the game looks incredible as well. Actually got emotional watching it because the time that this has taken to make and the whole world just looks like so much genuine care and love was poured into making it. Can't wait!

*loud groaning* I hope the VA for Luna in the game at least sounds somewhat similar. I would hate it if they literally sound like two different characters.
What? That doesn't make any sense! If you're hiring her for the movie she should do the voice in the game as well! This is stupid.

The Collectors, which only one went through on, I'm not sure I'm keeping. But if I'm not keeping it I want the Deluxe from Amazon. If I keep the Collectors, it won't arrive on release date so I have to grab the normal from BB.
Wow, 100% support for bringing back Kinda Funny. Hopefully Square Enix gets the message.
It's rare that NeoGAF is completely united on something. Kinda Funny is an irreplaceable gaming treasure I guess.

Luna is Laura Bailey. I die.

Guessing it's a money thing.

Bethesda was lucky to get Sean Bean for Oblivion before his rates went up. ;)
Of course it is but I'd rather have consistency. It makes little sense to hire some actors for a canonical movie tie-in for a game that'll come out just months (weeks? Days?) before the actual game.

Have Bean and the rest of the movie's cast voice their characters in the game or don't at all.

Thinking back on last night, I actually have a bone to pick with SE. First, they have Sakaguchi essentially say that FF has gone astray/ 'deviated from the path'. Then they keep talking about how FFXV is going back to the old traditions (in so many words). That upsets me because to me, it felt like a rather backhanded slight to FF13 and FF14 fans. Regardless how divisive FF13 is, it has a lot of fans and is one of their biggest successes. Yes, 14 1.0 was indeed a complete disaster but ARR and Heavensward have earned tons of accolades and public perception of the title has been greatly enhanced. The game now is a very deep and rewarding experience (loot cycles aside).

The way they were marketing FFXV last night felt disingenuous. It is not some great 'return' to what 'made' FF great. They acknowledge that FFs have always been about innovation. I'm sorry but FF11, FF12, FF13, and FF14 are quite different from each other and have been innovative in many ways (some more successful than not). When did FF 'lose' this sense exactly? Even FF13-2 and LR were very different experiences from traditional FFs. FF15, for how awesome it looks, is still going to be very different than the past. And that's just fine.

I think my demo bugged out. Im stuck by this lake with a gold ring that I cant get to and my Carbuncle is just standing still. Right after you fight the first set of enimies and spawn on Hydra.

You can't get to the ring? Weird, there's a clear path to it. Did you bump into a glitched invisible wall or something?

Couldn't watch last night because I was working so Watchung now before I go to work.

Liking this show so far Greg is funny. Lol.. at that GameSpot red button moment.

No recognition?
It would have been good to give him some recognition for the original concept but he hasn't worked on it for probably around 2 years and the game being presented is Tabata's game. The story and gameplay has changed drastically from when he worked on it and he probably had creative differences with SE which led to his removal, and so SE and/or Nomura don't want him to be associated with it anymore (this could be off base though, entirely speculation).

Out of everything that happened at the event, it finally sold me on the theme of friendship that the game is shooting for. The second half of the final trailer makes me confident that they really know what they're doing with that aspect of the game.

Yes! I was thinking that a lot during the event. I finally really felt that theme of bonds between friends and father/son that they have been talking about forever.

Yeah, straight up. I'd been a bit worried that they'd have trouble with the tone, or it would feel forced, but seems on point.

That was a well done presentation. They even made fun of themselves. I hope I can get the Deluxe Edition, so long waiting for this I can't believe it's this close.

Great. Something fucked up.

Preordered Ultimate Edition on SE store last night. Got a confirmation number.

Check this morning - no email confirmation and nothing is showing up on my "My Orders" page on the site.

Dammit.

Same. No charge yet though. Used a cc. Hnngnghghghg :< Let me get on with my day, Square. I just want that email!

I got a confirmation e-mail regarding the Ultimate Edition just three hours ago, 12:30pm PST. If you have an order number, don't give up!

Just sat through all of it. It was awesome, although Dan from London let us down looool.

Seriously though it was great - I've got the demo downloading, just pre-ordered the game, and I'm about to watch Brotherhood.I love how committed they clearly are to XV.

Is this on Amazon UK yet?? Can't find it

The Day One edition is, but not the deluxe, so I just ordered it from the Square Enix store for the hefty price of £69.99. I'm hoping it becomes available cheaper on Amazon then I'll order it from there instead.

Annoyed that the only way to get mage masher as a weapon is to order from Amazon though. I want to show my FF IX love!

Have you guys discussed how glasses bro was the least cheered when they introduced him?
I mean I agree but
it was still like awww nobody likes glasses bro :(

Amazing conference overall, but yeah, very worried that the actual game will have little to no CGI :/

It's one disc, too, so either it's going to be entirely in-game or they'll require a 30+ GB install or something.

He's not the director.

That's Hiroki Chiba, who's mainly been an event planner.

Hopefully he's better than Toriyama
I know but he's still significantly involved with it as "creative producer". And even mentioned that along with 2.8 he wants WoFF to be finished before he talks more about FFVIIR.
