WTH at this comment on the Deadline article about Wednesday's gross:

"I am a devout Christian but admittedly more liberal than my peers and everyone in my service loved the film! These are very conservative families we are talking about. They plan to watch it again this weekend. WB hit a home run."

What does that have to do with anything? LOL.
I had to look and make sure God's Not Dead 2 isn't also being distributed by WB.

I mean, BvS has plenty of Christian imagery in it, so.... I guess?

A major blockbuster about iconic comic heroes everyone is familiar with thematically built around sacrifice, death, and redemption, opening on the Easter weekend. I dunno, you tell me.

BAT-TRUMP

I want this movie to make enough to keep the dc universe going but no enough to keep Snyder at the helm.

Does anyone else feels the same?

Yes, I feel exactly the same. I want the DCCU to succeed and I don't hate Snyder. I'm looking forward to whatever movie he is doing next, except for Justice League, I don't want him anywhere near that film.

B-G-E pointed out that GI Joe Retaliation is maybe the closest comparison we have, since it also debuted on Easter weekend when that weekend fell on the last weekend of March.

Assuming that BvS makes $8M flat today, the same Friday-Sunday increases/decreases as GI Joe would give it a weekend of $55.5M

BvS has had worse percentage drops than GI Joe every day this week so far.

And there we have it.

There's a chance this thing might not catch Deadpool domestically, right?

Based on this, can we assume how much this movie would make in the end yet?

Dem Batman and Superman having pre marital forbidden sex and Bruce being an alcoholic.

We still need to wait for the weekend. There's a chance that the weekend has a bit of a rebound due to family audiences. I don't think the chance is a good one, but a $60M weekend vs a $50M weekend could mean a difference of $25-30M on the final gross.

Spider-Man 3 was sitting at $240M after a $58M second weekend. If BvS falls below SM3's second weekend, it would at best be $25M ahead of that film after 10 days, with perhaps worse prospects going forward. Spider-man 3 only made $337M domestic

The more I think about it, the more I think that Deadpool is beating BvS domestically. BvS will need like $65M this weekend to make that less of a certainty.

Just saw Zootopia finally.

... Shockingly great film. I'm really happy Disney is "back" and back with a vengeance, and this film didn't disappoint.

And, just because I have to get a dig in there, I found the presentation and messaging of Zootopia incredibly more mature and adult than anything I saw in Batman v Superman.

My fiance had a really good time, and I was pleased the theater was still half-full on a Wednesday afternoon four weeks into its run.

Jesus imagery. God and devil references. 9/11 imagery. The Lord's prayer. Superman fighting terrorists. 2nd amendment Batman. Martha was also a biblical figure so when they realized both their mother's were named Martha, they instantly liked both of them.

Given their doom and gloom articles about other films that weren't doing THAT bad, all of these recent Deadline articles seem to be very positive for BvS.

And this is exactly why it's so funny to me that people talking about Batman v Superman conflate dour and (literal) darkness with mature themes and seriousness.

So, if Snyder does get replaced, who's the ideal candidate to replay him?

The dream team that fandom has been bandying around, despite the fact it would never, ever happen, is George Miller to direct and Bruce Timm to lead the DCEU.

Personally? I'm really not sure. There isn't some ideal candidate for them. del Toro perhaps?

If we are talking dream directors to take over for Zack Snyder, I would like Alfonso Cuarón. He manages to have a firm grasp of storytelling and I find he elicits the best performances from the actors he works with.

That'd be a good pick. He's probably got carte blanche with WB after Gravity too.

Man, for all their fuckups, WB really has some ridiculous directors at their fingertips

With people wanting to go back to what they are already familiar with, you might as well launch the Burtonverse.

Sure, it may mean Johnny Depp as Superman and Helena Bonham Carter as Lois Lane, but at least we can get Danny Elfman making superhero themes again.

Don't think it will happen but I think it will be George Miller. He's familiar with with the material and is coming off of a well received film. Also I think WB trusts him.

Man the people on reddit are idiots about this film at the box office. They attacked me for posting statistics. It's pretty dam funny.
