Final Fantasy XV: Platinum Demo Thread

What the hell am I playing? This demo is effin stupid. It's like I got back in time to the early 2000's and I'm playing Kingdom Hearts. Except I didn't and it's 2016.

Game looks nice indoors. Outdoor not so much.

This demo has nothing with the actual game, is standalone experience. So you won't be playing this section.

Could still be set during the main game or the anime. Just that you don't get to see anything from that demo/dream but instead have an unconscious Noctis in the story.

Carbuncle mentioned that you're not just sleeping but that Noctis is out-cold. On the other hand it seems Noctis still has to be a kid as Carbuncle was surprised how he looks as an adult.

Alternatively it could just be framed between those scenes in the demo showing Noctis in bed with his father placing that Carbuncle figurine next to him. Completely irrelevant to the plot at a random night.
Though my guess is that you get to have Carbuncle in the main game (from the demo point on) as well, after the game scanned the savefile from the demo. Otherwise there would be no point why you get to name Carbuncle.

First experience with the Final Fantasy series.

I generally enjoyed the demo. Graphics were pretty, the setting was imaginative, and the music was very good.

There was one major performance drop in the town area that was like a slideshow, other than that performance was okayish. Character movement feels a bit sluggish and unresponsive, and I can't really judge the combat yet from what was clearly a very basic introduction. I liked switching between weapons mid combo. The aiming reticule for casting magic will need some getting used to though.

I'm looking forward to trying the full thing eventually, if only to see the kinds of places the game takes me.

I'd say to not dismiss the full game entirely based on this demo. I didn't like the demo either but I loved Duscae which is a better representation of the game.

Ah, I knew this wasn't going to be in this actual game, but it almost felt like they used Noctis' near death experience to make a demo out of it, using the dream during that time to show off stuff.

Demo was odd and okay. Last part is great.

Doing the fight again
and getting access to teleport was very cool, I was very pleased after that.

I can definitely see potential in the combat system, especially once I got the shuriken weapon, that's sexy as hell.

Meteorain and the water rain spell were absolutely gorgeous.

It was an underwhelming demo but it still got me excited to see what I'll be able to do in the real thing.

This is a horrible, horrible choice for a demo...

Honestly cant believe they chose this boring atrocious thing to demonstrate a game 10 years in the making...

Scratch my fucking head really.

Small question: for people who played earlier demos, is the camera in this...better than what used to be in older builds?

Because holy shit it's pretty bad when combat happens.

No in fact a lot of the time I found it worse since you are in close quarters a lot of the time in this demo,it gets stuck on everything in this demo it's awful.

A lot better.

It was meh. I don't get the whole thing with the plates. I guess it was only for the demo
Since it was a tech demo they wanted us to mess around with the weather and day/night cycle.

Digital Foundry needs to run their tests on this thing. There's no way it ever hit 30fps, which is baffling since the game doesn't look impressive at all AND they've working on it for 10 years. Gameplay was a turn off too. Only saving grace was dual audio

The demo was basically to show off the systems in place, like the improved weather and magic effects. It was also to show the improved battle system(as an adult). The toyroom was to show off the physics system. The car plates were to show off how driving will feel. The creature plates were just to show off a few creatures.

All in all, it was a decent demo. I'm still hyped for the main game, knowing the battle system has improved.

I figured out how to kill the Iron Giant without being touched. You can warp to the tallest part of the building then warp strike him to get him on his knees.

lolwut. It does look impressive.

This was a fun demo, but it is obvious it is supposed to give an impression of some gameplay elements, and the plates were an illustration of these elements. I am 99% sure plates will not be in the main game. Last fight was fun and the scale of the game still impresses me.

Note: I played through episode Duscae 6 times, and if you fused the two demoes together you would have a killer demonstration of the potential of FFXV.

Holy sparkles, Batman, this demo is even worse than Duscae. It plays like pure shit and everything was boring as fuck, and Duscae was amazingly boring. What are they trying to convey with this? What's the thing that will make people want to buy this? What the hell is the appeal of this game?

I liked how when you finish this pos they ask you if you want to order FFXV. lol no I don't want to order, I'm not spending more than 15€ in this game.

Holy hyperbole, Batman.

Game looks good graphically, but man the FPS at some points was really bad. Hopefully they manage to fix that before release.

Also, I liked the fight at the end.

Well, I played through the demo 3 times now. It really is so much fun, Carbuncle is so cute I can't get enough of it (I couldn't help myself and I named it Kainé). I kind of like how this is different from the XV game, it gives you a unique perspective, since this is obviously a dream world it really makes it special. One of my all time favourite demos.

Extra points to anyone who calls it Chocobro.

Can't wait till the game releases and the crow eating commences.

Damn, people can't take criticism.

I can see why people would be miffed, I've never been a fan of FF games but this is far from what I thought they were like. Where's the RPG?
This is not what the game is going to be like at all. SE screwed up by releasing this demo and thinking people would react rationally about it.

They should have just made the Duscae demo public.
