Final Fantasy XV: Platinum Demo Thread

Not sure what you're even talking about. He staggers and gets up?

As he staggers his right hand reaches out for the barrel as support to get back onto his feet. It kind of looks like he's pushing himself back up off it. Couldn't tell if that's contextual or just a coincidence of the animation itself.

Meh... didn't care for the demo.

Wish the dodge and attack buttons were reversed.

I read that you unlock a summon by finishing the demo. Is there any indication that I unlocked it?

Probably Carbunble when you name it at the end of the demo. The demo makes a hard save after you complete it(and return to the title), which likely acts as the means for FFXV recognizing your activity with it.

Played the demo, thought it was fine for the most part, Carbuncle's (or whatever) audio clip whenever he speaks got annoying quickly though. The final fight was the most enjoyable part definitely.

I enjoyed the combat system, I found you could get into a rhythm by switching between weapons at optimal times. I'm sure the whole system is way bigger than what the demo showed.

Also, I'm guessing the performance will be better in the final release, right?

It has some work and this was a bit of a weird demo to show off, but I really enjoyed it. The combat I thought was fine and takes some getting used to. Hopefully they can tighten it up before launch. I was a fan of The Witcher 3 and this had put me in a similar mindset of knowing when to block and warp and attack. I cant wait really.

Alright demo, specially when I turned into the Alligator. I will say that I just hated the damn camera and the fact that lock on was not at R1.

The luminous engine offers the best lighting and pbr solution to date! Wow just look at these. This engine looks extremely promising I just hope square adds a good motion blur implementation and better aa solution.

If it weren't for the horrid aa/framerate issues this would be the prettiest game out. period.

They got 6 months to optimize so here's hoping. Believe in tabata

It took longer to download the demo than to play it. I liked Duscae demo better. Can they just patch that one again? Anyway, I'm still all in on the game, but that demo actually brought me down a bit. The combat has improved a lot. They need to add air dodging but beyond that, I could dodge almost whenever I wanted and that's all I ever really wanted.

There is air dodging the short directional warp serves that function. I'm not talking about the triangle warp.

You're in control.

Now I strongly believe that this game should be fixed 900p in PS4.

Episode Duscae's graphic with stable fps and rich AA. That's all I want in graphical term.

They do really nice things with the lighting but holy fuck at the visual artifacting and pretty low fidelity assets. I'm hoping that the reason for the visual (and performance) compromises were because areas will be much more open in the final release, but oh man is this not the best first impression. There's aliasing fucking everywhere.

thx about the answer

about the demo:

my only complain is the hair, its kinda ugly and draws atention, the rest is good

Is the normal square dodge useless in the last part of the boss battle? I just found it easier to keep warping and hitting it rather than using square. Also holding square for autododge is useless I guess? And I still dont get what triggers the parry? It seems to happen randomly.

WOW THE GAME LOOKS...
GORGEOUS

Okay, so I haven't played Duscae and have no idea what's changed between the two demos.

-I really dislike the camera here. Noct seems oriented to the left of the screen and it just felt jarring to move around and look at stuff in the environments of the demo. Could be that my T.V. is just too small though, so I'll have to see if a bigger one would make a difference.

-The combat felt fucking clunky. The warping and dodging in particular when mixe din with the combat didn't feel fluid whatsoever. And why was it that I was always taking damage when dodging? Something clicked though, maybe it's just that this is my first time finally playing the game I've been waiting years for. The idea behind warping and wepaon switching is really fucking cool, just needs to be executed better.

Otherwise, the music was 10/10, don't give a shit about the other technical stuff. It was alright!

After experimenting with it a lot it doesn't seem like it has any sort of i-frames on it like the regular dodge. It's just for show/mobility.

True but you could always decide to pull back or go sideways last min in case a swing comes your way. It's useful but not to degree of abusing I-frames of course XD

I thought it would be horrible because of all those negative reviews, but damn, i really liked it

I don't really think that KHish tone is the right thing for a demo for FFXV, but the changes in gameplay are nice(though i'm still with Duscae's commands in my head and that made things pretty hard for me -_-), the weapon switching system is good, and you can switch things mid combo too, so it feels better than that deck thing from Duscae. I didn't get to try the magics in the last fight so much because i was busy trying to climb that building, so i guess i'm playing this again soon xD

The lighting system is amazing, i didn't have many problems with the framerate, it was way better than duscae's actually, but my ps4 got as loud as an airplane turbine( i guess that's what you get buying the first build of a console, huh?), that corridor after Altissia was just beautiful

Altissia looks really nice too, i'm betting the full city map is bigger than that, but i've already liked the layout in that slice, they could just have made an KHish empty hub(like the last area) but they didn't, so i'm with high expectations for the full city...

i've named my carbuncle Sabin, since we may fight Doomtrain ;D

Air dodging is for extending air combos, and you can dodge backwards out of range while attacking with the shuriken.

Am I doing something wrong or missing something obvious?

Attack button is circle. When I press circle, it locks on to enemies but it won't attack....

I've mashed every button and none of them give me a response except using square to block....

help. =(

You have to hold it.

Visually stunning overall, however it could do with some optimizations.

The game feels a bit finicky in terms of traversal and movement. Also wish the character movement and attacks had more weight.

Gotta get used to the combat and controls for sure, but seems promising. Wish I was able to get in on Duscae and play with the combat some more.

Still very much looking forward but this demo somehow brought the hype down a bit.

Which weapon do you have assigned?
