Giant Bomb Vive stream | What a Time to Be a Vive!

I liked when he was in that hover shooting game and he felt like he was running up and shooting someone. Just a cool application of the tech.

Everything seems kinda janky, but you can really see the potential. I'm really curious to see how VR interfaces and hardware evolve.

Ah, just got here about 20 minutes ago, looking forward to seeing that on the archive.

got a warning in GB chat cuz i said "Jason needs to take a dump." when did mods care about a dumb joke like that.

Yeah I think I actually saw some chat messages get deleted for the first time ever. Mods must be getting a little testy coming up on the 8 hour mark.

Oculus already implemented the same tech in their SDK. Valve is working on something similar but I guess it's not quite ready. Elite Dangerous supposedly benefits from it a good bit, to smooth out inconsistent framerates.

It is good as a backup in a pinch. I just can't help how think shitty it is going to look in PSVR running all the time, with foreground objects skittering across your view.

Why is that blonde guy looking so goddamn serious all the time. You're gaming, not finding a cure for cancer. Lighten up a little..

Drew's been to North Korea. Have you been to North Korea?

Shit changes you.

Lol, well that would explain it i guess. I hear the *ssraping in those prisoncamps is really something else...

But still, if he'd only smirk like once in a while...

I really hope you're not saying what I think you're saying.

Fair enough. I concede defeat :)
Fair play for replying. A lot of people in the high profile gaming side GB threads just do drivebys.

The crew are generally very excited about a game if it appeals to them. But you aren't going to get artificial hype unless they're being satirical. Once you get to know their individual tastes, you know when they're calling it like they see it which is very useful from a critical standpoint.

But in the rare cases when they do lose their shit...you know it's over something truly special.

Can't wait for them to roll on the floor and speak in tongues.

Which ones? And were they any good?

archery in Valve's The Lab looked fun, and they called out the vibrations/haptics when drawing the bow felt great.

The other two I remember were Bowslinger (£10) and Holopoint (£5). Neither seemed amazing but I'd happily check them out in a sale - I like archery stuff. Actually Holopoint is cheap enough that I might take a look anyway

Considering the rest of the vile dumb shit that gets in chat caused the modding staff to up their warning game, I'm not surprised they're taking a no prisoners approach to their modding.

well, when you have one of the hosts mention he once farted on someone's sammich, that can influence the people who listen. :p

Heh, IIRC it only lasts for the stream.

oh good. i'll wait for archives.

I think it looks janky from the outside looking in. When your in it I bet it feels 100% natural. Gamers are not athletes and actors. Go watch some go-pro vids, even with pro's doing work, many look kinda lame.

Just because a PC is more powerful than a console doesn't mean it's going to get higher-budget experiences. I know, crazy, right?

Weird, because Pc gaming tends to get higher budget experiences, since not only does it get 99% of multi-plats, but 50+ on average, highly rated exclusives that consoles never see, ona yealry basis. and many of those have decent budgets.

Yeah I agree. All I was hinting was that it takes a LOT for them to be impressed, which is true. So it really bodes well for Budget Cuts in this case.

I agree, however the gun reloading didn't look great. It's just small things that add up. They'll get there.

When Oculus/Vive prices were announced I was so bummed. I wanted them so badly.

Now I see there's nothing worth using them with.

VR is still awesome, can't wait to see what actual games are made for it 2-3 years down the line. Until then, nope.

They having a break just now? Stream isn't online.

10 min break

i like the tech but all the "games" are pretty iffy atm. not worth paying that much money for overpriced tech demos.

Name these higher budget PC exclusives.

I'd say they are having more fun with the Vive than the Rift because they are moving around a bit and using the touch controllers.

The demos/games seem much more like new experiences than what I saw in the Rift streaming.

From impressions of the valve one the way they simulated the tension of drawing a bow with rumble is really good.

Yeah archery is great especially when having people along. Bowslinger seemed to have some meat on the bones, but I have no idea if it plays well.

Really wish every game had detailed reviews, but given the pace at which these are coming out, that seems unlikely

Yep, the controllers seem to be key.

Guessing it'll be the same with PSVR. Playing VR games with a controller seems to be missing the point a little bit, at least for some games.

I kinda want a horror game with asynchronous multiplayer where a VR player is the monster teleporting around trying to catch the other players.
