Because its cheaper.

What makes me sad is that people still believe in this company to deliver decent products to fan.

This is utter shit.

They treat their best-selling games and still most popular games with utter contempt. Fuck these guys seriously.

I paste what I wrote in the Steam thread, since not all people read that.

WTF.
I mean, WTF.
I have no words.
WTF.
I was waiting for this and it will be probably an overpriced piece of garbage even worse than Dotemu ports.
Do you know what's even worse? The fact FFVII and FFVIII on PC basically run like an emulator for PSX, at least this was the thing with the original versions, which were the PS1 games with an exe basically. Instead of doing that and polishing things in and there, they fucked up including an Android Emulator. It will probably run like garbage, but that's ok for SE.
At this point I expect a PS4 Emulator for FFXV, this would explain the "tech showcase" too, since you will need 8 980TI in Sli to properly run that.

There's literally NO reason to use an Android emulator NOW. Because they ported pretty much ALL FF games excluding FF1+2 and Tactics. So, what's the reason? If this would be the very first FF port on PC, I would probably say it's to have a tool to properly port all future games easily, but...only three games are missing, and two of them (FF1
2) probably won't get a port since they are very old and outdated.
We had (bad) Dotemu ports, we could get another one for completion.
The only reason I can find right now is SE wants to port all Dragon's Quests, Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana games and with this tool they will literally push a button to do the port.

What in the world are they smoking over there. Seriously, what the hell... Oh well, I will buy iOS version some day if it goes on sale (watch it break with iOS 10 this fall).

It says the installer includes the "third party plugins", not that you have to download them separately in order to run it. Are we sure that the other FF Android ports on PC don't say the same too?

Anyway, expected better yeah, but it doesn't bother me too much personally, as -like I said- most of the other Steam FF games are ports from Android. Just hope it runs ok and that SE releases it already so people can try it out.

Feeling pretty good about that FF15 port now.
I mean nothing is surprising with Square anymore. No wonder they can't figure out XV on PC and their XIII series ports were shit. They can't develop their way out of a paper bag and have business sense of a not particularly bright hamster.

This is ridiculous, I wonder if modding will be more of a pain because of this. Only reason I bought FF6 was because I could mod it to remove the horrible blur filter.

Calm down guys! That page simply lists all licenses used for everything they used to create the Unity port of FF9. You can see this because they even included the license for AutoBuilder, which will certainly NOT be included in any build of FF9 (it is a script for the Unity Editor which means it isn't packaged with the game when built).

So yes, of course they used the Android SDK to create the Android port. Of course they used Google Play stuff. I'm also pretty sure references to these plugins would remain in the build even if these plugins aren't used on PC, forcing them to include them on the list anyway (even if they didn't just create one list with all licenses for all versions).

I'm actually disappointed to hear this. =/

IX's one of my favorites, and I was waiting until the PC port released to replay it. Not sure about now, though.
