Star Fox Zero: The Battle Begins (Animated Short to Premiere 4/20)

I'm two minutes in and this is already pretty cool. The details of Star Fox has always been pieced together and hazy for me.

Within those two minutes I've learned why Andross is doing what he's doing, what the world is like on Corneria (it's a dog planet), how long it's been since Fox's dad died.

This is all probably common knowledge to some but somehow they summed it up pretty well and in an easy to follow way.

Had a ton of fun with this. I would love to see more shorts.

Mission accomplished for Nintendo - can't wait to play this game.

I love how at the end of the short it starts playing the mission accomplished music. And the Corneria theme in the original Star Fox game!

THERE IS SO MUCH FAN SERVICE IN THIS SHORT!

I really enjoyed that.

The Cinematic Nintendo Universe, Mushroom Kingdom Hearts, I don't care, just give it to me one way or another Nintendo!

That was cool. Loved the flying segments, and I hope there's more.

WHERE ARE THE SLIPPY GIFS

Whew, that was a dream come true from my kid days. Like i expected then, this series has so much potential in terms of plot and character development, but the games don't explore too far from the main storyline. If Zero had this emphasis in plot i would be overjoyed, but it seems like that's not the case.

Well, at least i enjoyed this short from star to finish with a huge smile in my face.

Welp, that was pretty much perfect to me. I enjoyed it a lot.

Are we just getting this one or will there be more shorts? I'm down for more now.

Now I wonder what Star Wolf's room(s) look like. We all know Pigma is probably a mess. INB4 "that's racist"

That would be a terrible plan. Shulk's weapon is MADE to take down robots
piloted by humans

That actually kinda undersells it. The Monado has way more significance than that.

I want this way more than Star Fox Zero...

Or at least a more involved Star Fox game that has a proper story that's as fleshed out as this(Saturday morning cartoon style, nothing convoluted). Basically chop this up into cutscenes and pepper
(snicker)
scenes before and after(maybe occasionally during) missions.

Seeing Slippy's big toad tongue twice is a little odd to me. I wonder do these animals just function like humans or do they have real world animal abilites on top of their human qualities? Slippy used his tongue almost like a 5th limb and he was shown bouncing around like any toad would so I guess so.

Can Falco fly? I want to say no. Does general pepper have a super strong send of smell? I'd say yes. Characters like Falco are certainly racist so I'm going to assume some animal races are jealous of the natural abilities of the others.

When he called Slippy a froggy and Slippy got really offended by that... was he... oh god.

Enjoyed it more than I should have!

Also another reminder the Star Fox Zero main theme is not good. It's generic and boring. Huge downgrade from the Star Fox and Star Fox 64 themes.

Don't you ever call a toad a frog! On some planets you get shot for something like that.

Falco's best lines:

"Time to show the monkeys who's boss!"

"Are you going to listen to that monkey?!"

This was life! From the animation dialogue pacing everything was top notch. This has to become a thing to promote Nintendo first party titles literally buying the game because of this.

I am sad that people are saying that he is playing the original star fox when it is obviously the wario ware version because of the smooth fps =P

yes I know it is the snes boss but ....seriously that game had REALLY bad framerate

Not sure why people are so surprised that Production IG worked on this. They've been doing the FMVs for Fire Emblem since the Gamecube.

This is very well made. I love to see more.

Why isn't this a series? Nintendo is looking to branch out, so...

- Make this an anime
- The anime is proven popular and gives more relevance to the franchise
- Nintendo sees more meaning into making starfox games more frequently
- The anime and games are tied and you can complement story details etc from one another

Come on Nintendo, do the obvious!

Because Orange did most of the CG, not IG. IG is there for the name. A bit shameful if you ask me given the quality of the work.

Yeah, they should make this into a tv show - it would make star fox a stronger brand.
I hope this was a pilot to test the reactions.

They can release Star Fox One together with the show and do cross promotion.

I hate Anime 3D characters so much that usually have to stop watching when I notice them, but those were very, very well done, amazing job by production IG.

Just wanted to say I really loved this too. Especially loved how it was filled to the brim with little details and we got to see team Star Fox in a bit more of a casual setting, although that does sort of bum me out Zero won't be like that.

Please make a full series out of this, Nintendo

I really dislike the animation style they've used for the main characters (cel shaded or painted on CG with low framerate). I wish they had used traditional animation like they did on Corneria's population, they look so, so much better. :/

Had to laugh at "Out of his fur?" "nothing weird there".

I think the weird animation style used for the main cast kinda fits, it makes them resemble the old puppets in a way.
