Atlus handling the western localization of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE

If all those contents removal are true then I'm honestly confused who they are trying to sell the game to.

At best, they want a wide as possible audience and don't want to end up on the news if someone's mom happens to walk in the room.

They sell the game to the audience they want, not necessarily the audience they have.

Will there be a special Edition for this in the US? Is there a confirmed release date other than June?

There is. Its already up at gamestop. Will be up at amazon eventually. Those are the only 2 retailers offering the SE.

Release date is June 24, 2016

Edit: curse you ridley dog!

But isn't one the first dungeons in the game all about gravure idols? People were talking about how there was nothing egregious enough for Nintendo to change in #FE (which I always refuted), but here we are. Wonder how that kind of stuff will be managed.

Nintendo should've just focused on capturing and playing up to the vita/psp audience. I doubt sony is gonna come back with a handheld, they seem way too happy with their home console space to care.

That would be really foolish since this game already has an incredibly limited appeal on the conceptual level.

Done a pretty great job of selling it to me.

It's pretty silly and something almost unique to Nintendo-published games. Game was almost certainly destined for a T no matter what.

Didn't Fatal Frame 5 get into that subject? I didn't play it so I'm not sure of the details, but there is recent precedent. As we have seen in recent cases, it isn't necessarily just about what is shown/not shown but the subtext as well.

I tend to find that Zelda should use old age language more than throwing random new age dictionary words in there. And seeing memes in Zelda does affect immersion, other games fine but Zelda? Leave it out. Glad I live in Europe so I don't have that crap in my Zelda games.

It's a kingdom of fashion, I fully expect silly and more modern languages as it's a sign of the times and fashion is constantly evolving into something weird regardless of era. It's trendsetting.

EDIT: Think of that kingdom like Italy and the renaissance. A cultural movement in the late medieval era and the beginning of the early modern age.

I never thought about it until now, but they really messed up by not just calling the game Fire Emblem: Tokyo Mirage Sessions. A lot of people probably won't even know it's a Fire Emblem game. I don't know if that matters a lot, the game probably won't sell well either way, but a lot of casual fans won't even know this is a Fire Emblem spinoff/collab at all.

Gotta say I'm curious to the lengths they will go to sell such a niche game at a T rating and to preserve their image as a publisher.

I will be rather shocked if they perform whole makeovers in a 4kids style.

Yes, but Fatal Frame was rated M.

I think they can't simply slap "Fire Emblem" on the name because, though there are a lot of references to it, it's its own thing for the same reason it also can't really be called an SMT game. Could be misleading to people expecting a console FE title.

So what content removal can we expect in this? Behind spoilers if it's something that requires that.

Currently it appears that the Hot springs DLC will not be making it here. That's the big removal.

Meanwhile Panties might become spats and a character might be aged up. This is all from the 4chan leaks BTW.

Edit: oh yeah and Tsubasa got a shirt to hide her cleavage.

For Violence and Blood, nothing related to gravure:

The edits are an image thing, not a (NA anyway) ESRB thing.

Okay, well TMS #FE also has "Suggestive Themes." It's pointless to compare both games in regards to "gravure content" if they don't cover the same kind of thing at all; Fatal Frame's situation obviously doesn't preclude that content from being modified or outright removed in #FE.

It's almost already a certainty that they've removed the Hotsprings DLC. Gravure idol content wouldn't be far away from that kind of stuff.

So basically, nothing of importance.

We Mormons now.

Because it's cringeworthy, part of the job of a localization team is to localize a product for the local audience.

And there's a lot more. It's bad

I'll be honest, reading those may be part of the reason that this is the only Zelda game I haven't bought or rented since OoT... And I'm terrified for Zelda UNX.

Main Zelda set in medieval Hyrule: Normal and what you come to expect with dialogue and no memes. Still good jokes, slapstic and puns though like every Zelda in existence.

Side game with a focus on fashion and trendsetting: Silly, goofy, dialogue to match. Language more modern in a type of renaissance period where the future of art, science etc., and the modern age starts

To be honest, I can't believe I have to spell this stuff out and that no one can even think about medieval times or what comes after or where it started. I don't think will see that kingdom again so your precious Zelda is safe.

Treehouse isn't as bad as people make them out to be but in my experience atlus is by far the best team to localize rpgs so this is pretty good news.

I am obviously missing something here because I googled Spats and all I got were a shoe fashion item that covers the ankle area of the shoe...

Nintendo changed Panties into that?

That's not the change the 4chan post is referring to. Kiria's outfit had already been changed in the Japanese version of the game prior to #FE's release.

Edit: Oh woops, nevermind that, I thought you were talking about something completely different.

This is the first Atlus-developed game with that distinction, if I'm not mistaken. It's even more surreal with Nintendo being the ones to call that shot.
Nope. It was Persona 4 Arena and it was the main reason why it was region-locked.

What do you mean? The localized version of Persona 4 Arena had English voices.

The very first post said this:

An Atlus USA game with JAPANESE VOICE ACTING?
Is this real life?

I guess I should've quoted that instead, but I was arguing about the opposite: Atlus games released in NA with Japanese voice acting.
