The one onwhere theyVenom. I should've seen that coming, but it led to a fantastic duel unlike anything I was anticipating.transform with their own Walker equivalents
I really like that fight, though I think I prefer.the lone wolf fight on fichina, I think the atmosphere is beautiful, the fight is nearly impeccably balanced, you have similar HP, moves aside you get bombs and he gets the lighting tornado which deal similar amounts of damage. It's a rival fight that feels like a genuine battle of equals, in other games this would be easy, but Wolf is always tense because of his fantastic AI.
Finished my first Arcade run. Probably not that great a score, but ah well. Just went the default route.
What's an arcade run?

When you beat the game, you unlock arcade mode, which is a straight playthrough of the game like classic Star Fox. The game tracks all 19 possible runs, so there are 19 possible maximum scores. What's an arcade run?

That's impressive number of hits IMO!
It's a mode which opens once you beat the main game for the first time. No stage select, one continue/level restart max (and you have to earn it!), and when you fail the mission, you have to start all over - I mean, all over from Corneria.

My favourite aspect of that fight waschasing them through the death star style trenches that run across the planetoid. It's especially tense when you're chasing one guy, and another gets into the trench behind you but you can't somersault because of the laser barrier above the trench.
I've only had time to boot up the game and finish the training so far, but Jesus.... the controls feel exactly the way I expected them to. And I mean that in the worst possible way. It feels like trying to play two different games at once. I really couldn't stand how the camera locks onto targets and leaves your ship flying off in directions you can't see in. I'm assuming it'll get better with practice and I've yet to see how the actual missions play with this scheme, but my first impression is the worst case scenario; that all the bad news about the game was completely right.

Yea, I thought that, but no matter how much I shot his hand, it didn't seem to matter. I was mashing the fire button and hitting him, but even that wasn't enough.
Wanted to go back to Corneria and not move on until I get the gold. Took me 3 tries, yay.

Every game is like that. Even Devil's Third had that. The honeymoon phase is a real thing.

Some of the time medals are ridiculous, Salvadora had me sweating blood, is like they want you to buy the amiibo.
I just focused on getting as many +1 hits as possible. Getting the blue charge as much as I could and slowing down during intense sections to kill as many enemies as I can. What's the most effective run to get over 300?
You lucky one! I have all medals but the hit one, and my high score is 299...
I don't think amiibo will help since Black Arwing takes triple damage.
lol I didn't know this, wasn't playing attention. No wonder I died a few times last nightI don't think amiibo will help since Black Arwing takes triple damage.
The dogfights in this game are INTENSE. I've only fought Pigma so far, but I hear that later on you fight all of Team Star Wolf by yourself? That sounds impossible, but I'm eager to try it.
Oh, and the slow-mo when Pigma passes you on the screen is amazing. And I don't know if I imagined it but I felt like there was a bass drop in there. Certainly felt like it.
Game has so much OOMPH.
Lol trust me, nobody wishes there was a demo for the game more than me. I hope it sells well enough for Nintendo to keep the series alive, but hopefully they don't focus so much on these controls so much. Even if it means keep Miyamoto away from the game. That I'll concede. Hell, this is one of the most divisive OTs I've seen for a Nintendo game. Man, if there was only a demo...Demos sold me on the likes of Wonderful 101 and Splatoon, come on, Ninty.
I really thought I was going to control the Gigarilla. Seemed like an obvious place to implement the Project Giant Robot stuff at

And if you defeat someone in a trench, you'll get a medal!
Dear Nintendo,
I'd spend money on DLC for Kat's ship.
Also, give me a dedicated button to make the "meow" sound.
Thanks, and tell Slippy I love him.
Sincerely,

So...looking at some of the posts on the last page or so, looks like some of you are enjoying this game. Is Dan Ryckert from Giant Bomb just full of shit and completely wrong about the quality of this game? He talks about how maybe Star Fox was never that great because of how similar this is the SF64, but I have such fond memories of 64.
