Your happy a company did something really stupid?
What's stupid with March 2017?
Your happy a company did something really stupid?
3 months after everyone has spent their money at Christmas and a month before taxes are due. I'm sure parents will be lining up for the NX in March.
Why are you depressed? I don't get it. The NX is coming, It's only 3 months later than expected. I honestly don't get how that is depressing? 3 months are nothing. Good time to even save up more money.
I hope we get some sort of tech leaks before then.
You're joking right?
wiiu already on life support and they want to drag it along another year lol.
If the rumours are to be believed about PS4K, Sony clearly didn't get that memo either, but that's neither here nor there.
If it's not going to be ready for the holiday selling period, you can't just magically make it ready. And clearly, none of the upcoming consoles are operating under what is considered "conventional wisdom" of the industry, so...
What's stupid with March 2017?
Everybody will cool off. E3 is not the end all in this age. Sony did its own event and Ms did too. Nintendo already confirmed they're revealing it later this year so they'll probably do their own event.
"Nintendo CEO: NX won't simply replace 3DS and WiiU"
Yikes.
Clearly you don't, because there is little excuse for it. Nintendo has other directors on its board; it has other key management personnel intact, who were all familiar with Iwata's vision, presumably. Iwata's death isn't an excuse.
3 month after the Holiday nobody but The Hardcore will be buying this thing it puts them in a hole.

Last 3 pages of this PDF detail the changes. 4 people on the board leaving and becoming Senior Executive officers. Shuntaro Furukawa is joining the board.
Seems like Reggie & Satoru Shibata will have more power in this system as they will be executive officers.

Shuntaro Furukawa is new on the board (as far as internal Nintendo staff). I believe he worked at Nintendo Europe a few years ago. Naoki Noguchi too on the audit/supervisory committee (current head of HR).
The "Senior Executive Directors" were all previously on the board before and have "retired" from that body.
You know...no new Disney Infinity this fall makes a lot of sense now.
Lol, so much for those thinking the console will be in 2016.
To go as far to not have playable games other than Zelda at E3 is crazy.
I don't joke, I huelen.
All things considered, in the face of adversity and a horrible market, and shifting goals and mindsets, 4.5 years is damned respectable. GCN had a full 5, but... it's last 8 months was REALLY struggling.
People have birthdays all year round.
Perhaps they don't want but they are forced to. Anyway all anger and disappointment will be long forgotten next year.

Seems to me they're gonna have a LOT to say about Zelda.
Lol lets count on birthdays instead of the biggest money spending time of the year. Good luck with that.People have birthdays all year round.
People think of the market in such stupid simple terms. Christ
They're just in an awkward position. They haven't made a console geared toward core gamers since the Gamecube. That market is now heavily tilted toward Sony and MS. The casual market they they managed to appeal to with the Wii has moved on to phones and tablets. So they're looking at an uphill battle no matter which direction they choose to go in. But by now they hopefully know that they need to go all in with whatever direction they choose. The Wii U was fucked from day one because they were trying to appeal to both of those sets of gamers and neither ended up wanting it.
Nintendo's board didn't have operational authority required to just step in and do everything that needed doing; that has been corrected as of this financial results briefing.
And a presumption isn't a fact.
I just think it's rather distasteful and fundamentally naive to say that a company can lose its most influential players and assume they can shrug it off as though he was a mere figurehead with no real impact. NO company survives that unscathed. NOT. ONE.
i'm at work, so can't watch/listen, but assume you're trying to be funny.
I just dont see the big success picture for Nintendo with all the above factors.
Can someone explain for me how they actually will succed?
3 month after the Holiday nobody but The Hardcore will be buying this thing it puts them in a hole.
Not all new hardware needs to be released during the holidays if things are not ready. Sure, you can sell a lot during the holidays. But what if it lost steam after that due to no ready games at launch because they need to rush it during the holidays? If NX gets positive buzz, regardless of the timing of release, it will still sell well. All it needs is good word of mouth (great specs that GAF will talk about for days, launch games that media will hype about, etc.) leading up to its launch. Otherwise, it'll end up like the Wii U.
It's obvious they've planned the WiiU's death for this year but had to delay it internally. Zelda 17 confirms it. They're emergency plan sounds pretty fucking dumb though. Can't wait for Nintendo hardcores to claim that E3 is dead anyway (while Sony's conference will probably again guarantee another year of easy gamer goodwill).
The way they've been talking about the NX this whole time has been super weird.
I thought the rule for product announcements was: Don't talk about it until you can show it.
