Nope, nothing as such. Screen cap?

Here ya go, I clicked become an insider, typed in my EA details and now I get this, I cannot go back to the main screen.

Still think a time travel scenario would work, not like these games are based on current events and it's a video game

That way you can have both future weapons X maps and WW1/WW2 style weapons and locations

Best of both worlds, do it Dice

I was nervous for a second as well. Fingers still crossed for the alternate WW1 BF5.

With Battlefield campaigns sucking ass already I would give just about anything to have a Battlefield campaign with that level of production values that focuses on WW1. Even if the gameplay was boring as hell I want to be on the western front experiencing heavy shelling with the DICE audio team putting it all together. I would buy the game just for that. Just for the attempt at recreating some of those experiences. Get in on a suicidal infantry charge. Some of the underground tunnel fighting that went on to circumvent the impenetrable defenses. Get your fucking ears blown out by the mining demolitions that kicked off the Battle of the Somme or Messines.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2143.

B-Company is awoken from cryo sleep in 2143 to travel to different time periods (WWI, WWII, etc) and fix the timeline. It's Darkest of Days meets Demolition Man meets B-Company.

On looking at it looks like just a generic error because I cannot sign in. Sad, thought it might have been a meta game or something.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I hope for a WW1/2 game. There was a gluttony of them in the PS2/3/360 era's and it felt like too many, but now we barely get any and I'd love to see a more modern update of that genre.

1.0

When it comes to the setting I'll be happy with anything but modern day.

I'd be surprised if it was modern. BF 2, 3, 4 and both Bad Company games were all modern.

I'm not expecting far future either. I doubt EA would release both Titanfall 2 and BF5 this fall if they were similar.

I really hope that doesn't mean they're going with the same colour scheme for the third game in a row.

Edit: Thinking about it, I know it's not exclusive to this industry but announcements of announcements have to be my least favourite thing about games right now.

The blue/orange thing got much better in BF4 when they stripped away the blue filter from the environment and HUD. Sure it was still a thing in the media releases but it didn't feature heavily in the game itself.

Hopefully if they shift settings from modern combat to something else they'll drop the colour scheme. After all, blue and orange lens flare doesn't exactly work in a WW2 setting...

Where is the physical event taking place? Someone mentioned Berlin in another thread, is this accurate?

If so May 6th is the closest weekday to VE Day, May 7/8 which marks the end of World War II in Europe when the act of military surrender was signed in Berlin.

BF4 on PS4 was my first in the series. Know it had a rough start, but it's been my go to multiplayer game pretty much since it launched. Looking forward to 5.

What a classy date and place to announce a video game glorifying war!

Oh man so I'm not the only one who booked that huh. I don't think the date choice is coincidental. If I remember my grade 11 history right, Hitler died sometime between April 29/30, and then the official surrender was signed on May 7/8, about a week later.

Future? But are we not going back in time to WW1? :D

Im curious to see what they're doing.
Anything but MMS would be great at this point.

What I want, in this order:

1) Alternate timeline BF set in the early 1980s with global war between USA and USSR.

2) Korean War BF.

3) Battlefield 3000 or something like that, set in the far future.

I was originally pumped on the idea of Battlefield 1914, but then I realized it would mean very, very simplistic gameplay with very little option for weapon customization, etc.

In all fairness, a near-future/futuristic BF is much more exciting than COD purely because of vehicles, more weaponry and sprawling maps. Thinking about that, I think I'd be happy whichever way the series goes as long as it moves on from modern military.

My heart wants a new WWII Battlefield game built with Frostbite 3. To me, it's a no-brainer.

I wouldn't mind a futuristic setting either, as long as it takes a lot of queues from BF:2142 and stays away from the jet pack/wall running bullshit.

So tired of announcements for announcements. Wish they'd at least tease the time period so I can know if I should get excited. Modern and future is negative hype.

This is so stupid. How else are you meant to tell people they're having an event on May 6th? Hope that people read their minds and tune into the relevant channels on the day?

I HATE how Battlefield games play. The single player is devoid of any character and somehow manages to be more generic than CoD campaigns which is the game's biggest accomplishment.

The multiplayer can be fun but man does it suck to run a mile and get sniped by some random cunt across the map.

They need to completely overhaul the shooting mechanics, their netcode and not give us a reskin of battlefield 4.

This is exactly why Bad Company was sooooooo good. Yeah some big maps but the combat and encounters just happened on a way more regular basis. More close quarters, destruction actually meant something and not having to run miles and miles just to get shot in the face.
